Love the simplicity of the complex. As are all Hutongs, Best Year is not situated on main road so research address and location and arrive in Beijing prepared with directions. Love the historic feel of ancient China which you instantly grasp upon arrival at Best Year and it's surrounds. Considering we only need a place to sleep and shower, it... More

500m from the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Centrally located hotel! 90rmb taxi from airport to the hotel. Our driver had no problem to find the place. I also used the map apps in the phone ( be careful with roaming if you don't have a Chinese number). You can also use airport express (25rmb) to Sanyuanqiao (Line10 ; 5rmb)... More

The only plus of this place is the location, very close to the Forbidden city (5 min walk), the room is ugly and bathroom smell terrible. Very hard to find for whatever person the first time even for local taxi driver that had a lot of problems to find it and the driver called by phone for help. It was... More

A ten minute walk from The Forbidden City, Tiananmen BYC Hotel is a great choice for Beijing-tourists on a moderate budget. Camouflaged by the cozy hutongs, the Tiananmen oozes historical China without feeling artificial. There is a nice reception area where one can bring food, make tea, read or look at the expensive Ming-vases on display. The rooms are simple... More

We spent four nights in this wonderful, rustic Hutong type accommodation. Our room was spotlessly clean with laundered towels each day, bathroom was basic. It is situated very close to both Tiananmen East metro and next door to Forbidden City. A short walk to Wangfujing night market (to eat spiders and scorpions). Gu jie was so helpful with all our... *BEWARE OF SCAMS NEAR FORBIDDEN CITY* - we got approached by two Chinese women pretending to be on vacation and chatted us up. They invited us to Coffee which turned into beer and dinner. When the bill came it was 10 times the amount it should have been. I'm sure there's some sort of kick back arrangement going on. Two... More

This hotel calls itself "four star" and says it has a business center and all kinds of services for guests, plus "hi speed wifi" and breakfast etc. Somewhere I also read that my room had a balcony. I was surprised when I arrived to find a rather gray, sad and unattractive place that smelled bad and had no balcony. In... More

I stayed here 2 weeks ago with my family (mom and brother). The position of this hotel is ridiculously comfortable!! Just 5 minutes by foot to the metro Line 1 (tiananmen east) and 10 minutes to the Forbidden City, perfect if you want to visit the city center of Beijing. The price is not exactly backpackers standard, but the price/quality... More
