Very ordinary/typical hotel for middle-level officials. No WiFi, no electric iron, no coffee, no working internet cable in the room. Actually a kind of suite with 2 rooms/beds but a bathroom only accessible through one of the rooms. Breakfast is in another building, coffee not drinkable

We passed this hotel many times when living nearby for several years. On a return visit, we decided to try it out. Not bad. Not great. Convenient to Wudaokou and Liudaokou and the Subway lines 13 and 15 aren't too far away. Definitely an older hotel but fairly well maintained. The big test though was how the hotel responded to something out-of-the-ordinary: after we checked-in, the embarrassed bell hop told us: "You should know...we don't have any...water". "That's OK", we said, brandishing the bottles of Nongfu Spring Water that we always carry. "No," he said, "We don't have *any* water. No showers, no toilets..." That got our attention, especially after our long flight to get there. Turns out, there was planned maintenance going-on from 8:00am to 8:00pm and there *would* be water in our future, but not just now at 1:00pm. It's great that the hotel was maintaining their water supply, but...this was a planned interruption and no attempt had been made to notify us, either by e-mail, phone, or during the check-in. Someone who looked like a manager was just standing there...looking. Or, if no notification (a sign that was posted by the elevator doesn't count as notification) couldn't provisions have been made ? Arrangements to take showers at a nearby hotel ? Or only turn off 1/2 the hotel at one time ? Or provide buckets of water to fill the toilets ? The mind reels with possibilities! But no provisions at the Mengxi (which means, loosely, River of Dreams. Ah, rivers, water ! we were dreaming of it) The bell boy was a real trooper, though. He made some calls and found a place for us to take showers and wrote instructions to give to the taxi driver to take us there and bring us back. We never found out what this "place" was because we just took a nap and woke up at 5:00 to find the water running again. No real harm done, but darn annoying. Come on Mengxi, our arrival wasn't a surprise...and there were other people staying at the hotel, so *be prepared*. Or at least alert us so we could have made a change

I stayed here just one night to catch a plane next day. so, I have no idea how conveniently this hotel is located, except that it took about 40 min by car to get to Terminal 3 Beijing airport. Room was big, comfortable, and clean.it was quiet. shower is not poorly designed: the rest room got flooded after taking shower. WiFi was available but disrupted frequently in very poor connection/reception. Breakfast in the restaurant in the adjacent bldg.

On arrival, my first impression was the friendly reception and the no-fuss check in procedure. I thought the lobby area was somewhat dated and my thoughts didn't change as I took the elevator and walked the corridor to my room. Definitely in need of refurbishment throughout! That being said however, the room was very clean with typically dark furnishing and a superbly hard bed. The bathroom light was a bit too dim for my liking so my shaving was a bit hit and miss during my stay (lol). I didn't try breakfast there, having alternative arrangements with friends, but I did try the small cafe for a cold beverage in the evenings. Service was wonderfully amiable and the beverage was delightfully chilled. One small thing though. The room keys are very strange. The keys are credit card-sized which would normally fit neatly into your wallet and you know where it is. For some reason, probably economics, they have glued a large chip type reader on the card which is presented to the room for entry. This is OK as it works; but inconvenient from a portability aspect. I stayed there purely because of the location and I think, frankly, it's little bit expensive for what you get. I'd like to reiterate though that I found all staff I encountered to be really friendly and customer service oriented.

I stayed at this hotel for almost 3 weeks, while working for the Beijing Games in 2008. This was a business trip, so not sure what the cost was, but judging from the hotel I guess it was an economic stay (or should be!). The hotel is quite old, definitely needs a face lift in terms of decoration and furniture. I was in a room with 2 double beds, so I had a bit more space for my suitcase and clothes. The furniture was relatively old and dowdy and the room was a bit cramped. The bathroom though must have been redone recently because it was quite good. I had a tv, a bathrobe and slippers, but the towels were SO synthetic that I literally couldn't dry myself with them! I had to ask someone to bring me some towels from back home when they visited! There was also no hairdryer, which I had to request each morning but it was taken away again when the staff came round to freshen up the rooms. The staff was frienly and helpful, but no one could speak English. They had a very good 24hr laundry service which was needed during my 3 week stay! The buffet breakfast was OK and so was the hotel cafe-bar. The location wasn't great, but Beijing is a huge city, so it could have been much worse. There was a frequent bus service right outside the hotel and the metro station is 15-20 minute walk away. Overall a decent stay, but quite basic. If this is a reasonably priced hotel (as I said, I never found out how much it cost), I would suggest it as a value for money stay.
