I stayed here with my family in February, ages from 16 to 66 & it was fabulous, I can't fault the customer service the family that ran it were extremely attentive, informative & very friendly. The rooms which may seem basic to some travellers were warm, comfortable & very clean with nice white bed linen. The rooms were just off... More

It is located in a quiet little hutong in a really good location. Everything is either a walking distance from there or you could just walk to the nearest bus or subway station and access the whole city easily. And the surrounding area is beautiful and for all you street food afficionados - there is a food street 10 minutes... More

The first thing to say is its a hostel, so the bedrooms etc aren't hotel standard ... you'll live out of your suitcase/backpack. That said, if you want authentic Beijing and not some bland high end hotel, this is the place for you. It's within easy walking distance of Jingshan Park, Beihai Park, the Forbidden City , Tiananmen Square, Dashilan... More

Fantastic location. Really, really friendly and helpful staff and an invaluable written guide with suggested local walks, day trips and travel advice. Comfortable room, good food, good services (clothes washing and internet). We were on a five week tour from Mongolia to Russia via China and Khazakstan and this was the best place we stayed.

This was our first accommodation to stay in on our trip. It is located right in the middle of the hutong which we loved as it really makes you feel part of the city. We were so lucky we picked here as the staff were so helpful getting us to grips with the place. They booked flights, train journeys and... More

I have mixed feelings about this hotel: - location is bit hard to find. Its near Forbidden City and some sights but quite far to nearest subway station (15min) which is best and easiest way to travel in Beijing - we received very nice explanation of everything upon our arrival and also during our stay - room is ok, but... (+) The place is absolutely great! It has an excellent location, nicely designed patio, relatively big rooms, helpful lady at the reception, good breakfast (amazing coffee, dumplings, yummy chicken soup - huge portion). The lady at the reception will explain you everything in the best way. She can give you 2 A4 with tips and Chinese translation for most of... More

Located in a hutong, not too far from the north exit gate of the Foribidden City, this is an excellent choice for Beijing. The room I had was comfortable and well heated. On arrival, guests are given information on the services, tours and other relevant information, that is very useful. Staff speak very good English and are always willing to... More

I started my backpacking adventure at the Sitting on the City Walls Courtyard House while on the 72 hour free transit visa in Beijing. The reason I started here at a more expensive hostel rather than at one half the price was because I wanted to ease my way into Asia with relative comfort. Having worked at a Scottish hostel... It has been a while since I stayed here. It has been awesome! The staff friendly, clear explanation by the reception what to do in the area, where to go, what to see.. Tranquility in the middle of a gigantic city!
