This is most ideal place to stay in Mombasa if you've been travelling or just want a break from reality. The amenities are amazaing, the stuff are welcoming and friendly. The rooms are always well maintained and the bar is quite lively. The food menus has a good mix of local and western cuisine at an affordable prices. The pool is definitely the highlight as well. All and all, its great place of meet other travels and share stories and experience.

Regular visitor here.Non existent security or more like some dude crashed out in the box.dont wake him. Brenda and Cynthia are a breath of fresh air around the place which helps negate the stinky toilets and showers. New hut by the pool being constructed. The former comfy lounging place in the corner needs upgrading. Bar is still a pleasant place to relax at,the proximity to the mall and clubs is perfect as is the walk to the beach and Moonshine. Place needs a serious overhaul to recapture its past stellar rep.

Guy hanging around when we got dropped off didn't greet us or say hello. I was confused if he was staff or not. We followed him inside hoping it was the right gate. Admin girl was fine, but not overly warm and welcoming. Rooms are cheap, true, but doesn't mean they have to be disgusting. Ours was so dirty and unmade when we arrived. They said people had just checked out. We were ok with that, but when we returned to the property after a huge day of touring, the beds were still unmade, and we had no towels, at 10.15pm. Exhausted, we then had to chase down the staff, which were difficult to find. Eventually we found someone and they said the cleaner was at our place now. We went back to our room to find no cleaner. We waited another 20 min for someone to come. The shower mat was absolutely filthy - looked like a bed for a dog. Better to throw it out. The shower and bathroom were dirty and the shower door creaked like a horror movie. One of the most filthy hostels I've ever stayed in, and I travel very frequently. Place was empty but staff apparently didn't care or were too lazy to take any pride in their work. I would suggest the owner spends some time facelifting the place. Super run down and uninviting. Very unimpressed. All you need in a hostel is simple, CLEAN accomodation and friendly, attentive staff. Tulia House has none of these.

The beds are clean, food large portion but my problem is the food was flat...for starters the breakfast, sausages over done from the outside, inside not done, chicken no marination at all or very little to add to the taste, salad and fries was okay.. The location is good walking distance to the city mall, and the beach..a lot can be done to make the place look more presentable i think. Mwende was very good service wise same to Nelly..
