#2 of 11 hotels in Maasai Mara National Reserve
Travelers' Choice
Welcome to Angama, inspired by the Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’. Located high above the floor of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, Angama Mara is a remarkable owner-run safari lodge overlooking Kenya’s Maasai Mara, considered by many as the loveliest game reserve on the continent. Here guests will find a lodge where everything is as it ought to be: two intimate camps of just fifteen tented suites each, a private airfield and access to the Mara below, tailor-made safari days and a famously warm Kenyan welcome.

Angama Mara is an absolute must. My husband and I enjoyed part of our honeymoon here and we could not have asked for a better experience. The staff is absolutely incredible and they truly will stay in our hearts forever (shout out to George, Farida & Eric). My husband and I actually got emotional when it was time to leave, that's how special our stay was. Everything from the accommodations, to the food, staff and surrounding nature was breathtaking, utter perfection. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Don’t know where to start or how to end this review. Everything, Everyone and The Lodge itself is spectacular. If your considering don’t consider, just book it and you won’t regret it. The views, the rooms, the surrounding, the game drives, the staff, the food was above and beyond amazing. I worked with Tamsin arranging everything before our arrival and she was wonderful to work with. Sophie was our game driver and she was amazing! She knows the Mara like the back of her hand and could tackle some of the rain soaked tracks, where others wouldn’t dare to venture. She is a true professional in the Mara. The rooms are stocked with Gin, Whiskey and wine which is all included. There is a beautiful pool with views. We were there in March so a bit too cool to swim. The restaurant was great! Always has great drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol) and food ready in hand. The rooms had astounding views of the Mara and binoculars are providing for game viewing. We saw the big 5 and so much more on our game drives! I hated leaving Angama. They say Africa is a once in a lifetime experience and I’m so glad Angama made it a perfect one. Definitely have a yearning to go back at some point in my life. Thank you angama for everything.

I am so sorry that your beautiful review on TripAdvisor slipped past me and I am only replying now. The world is upside down thanks to the pandemic but that is n o excuse for my lack of manners. From your gorgeous title, to your unrestrained enthusiasm and to the kind words about the team we simply love this review - thank you so much. I see you cracked the girl power team in Tamsin and Sophie and I know they are both tickled pink by your comments. Please don't thank us. It's our great joy to welcome our guests and spoil them rotten and without them we would be nothing. How lucky we are to have such wonderful guests. Warmest thanks Nicky

We came to Angama Mara for our first safari of two on our honeymoon. We were blown away by the amenities as well as the exceptional staff. Our guide, Daniel, was incredibly knowledgeable and great to be with. The food and animal sightings are next level which are both complemented by the quality of the accommodations. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to be spoiled.

Dear Deets Thank you both for coming to Angama for this very special celebration. We know how difficult it has been for couples planning weddings and honeymoons over the past 20 crazy months and because of that the Angama team is committed to spoiling our honeymooners all the more. We all loved reading your kind review - especially Daniel who asked me to please forward his heartfelt thanks, too. He so enjoyed taking you both on safaris during your stay with us. Wishing you both all the happiness and many adventures in your life together Warmest thanks Nicky

Experience/food/luxury accommodations are all taken care of and worth every penny. The people are beyond kind and staff and hospitality are top notch. They always had great good and changes daily menus so you weren’t eating the same thing everyday. They offer luxury wines and spirits and again all included. The per person cost is justified in my option. Amenities include everything from the pool, spa, activities every evening and even a photo studio that has lenses for rent and photo editing/camera help. I even got engaged here:) they have an amazing champagne, drink set up on the out of Africa filming spots and it made for the most memorable moment in my life. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I will be back one day.

Angama Mara is an amazing place. I stayed there from 4th to 7th October. I must say, it's very hard for me to leave. The property was just perfect. But a perfect property won't mean a thing without an amazing hospitality from people behind it. I would like to say thank you to Ibrahim and Doris who welcomed us with wide arms and amazing smile. Their warm personality really make me feel at home since day 1. To Kimani, my amazing butler. He never say no to our requests. No matter how busy he is, he always accommodate our request with big smile. Mosses my safari driver.... on my first safari, I was able to see lion, Leopard, lioness kills wildebeest... whatever our request was, he made it happen, with smile!!!! He was awesome! Felix, cleaned my tent every morning and prepare for our bedtime perfectly! Samuel, Lynette, and all the staff which I can not mentioned one by one... they have the amazing Kenyan hospitality... Stay here and you won't regret!!!! This is a true hospitality. They will take care of you like a family! Maybe the only downside of this property is only the swimming pool, it could have been better such as temperature control and make it more "alive"

I had to read your lovely review twice because it made me feel so proud of the team at Angama who took care of you. You mentioned no less than 7 of them by name and that is when I know we hit the jackpot in looking after you. Thank you so much for coming to stay and for sharing this wonderful feedback. And to witness a lion kill on your first safari is fantastic. I know Moses is delighted by your kind words about his guiding skills and his lovely smile. Heartfelt thanks from us all at the lodge Nicky
