Mara Explorer was just 3 to 5 minutes from the airstrip overlooking the beautiful meandering River Talek. It is in an unbeatable location in the centre of the park & all the animals just there or minutes away. The camp is clean & with a private feel. Our tent had an outdoor bath tub to relax in after our game drive. From our tents we could view a baby crocodile, hippos & elephants. All the employees are phenomenal with exceptional service & hospitality. Gregory the camp manager organised our trip to perfection. Our driver/guide Samson was very accommodating & knowledgeable. He had a sixth sense when it came to spotting animals. He fulfilled all our wishes - with leopard sighting on our very first game drive & the next day, 10 lions & a kill, 4 cheetahs & a kill. We also saw the river - crossing of the wilderbeest migration twice. Collins attended us with great care at the restaurant with the chef's delicious meals. Mary was full of surprises with Bush breakfast & Bush dinner. Look no further - will not be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed at Mara Explorer in August 2021 as the last leg of our 10 day safari and what an incredible stay it was! If you are looking for a little luxury (gorgeous facilities with rooms overlooking the Talek river, full shower/bathroom, etc.) in the middle of outstanding wildlife viewing, this is the place for you. As soon as we stepped on the grounds we were made to feel as part of the Mara Explorer family and this feeling continued until our last minute there (and the last minutes were tough as weren't ready to leave!). The Mara Explorer staff is second to none. From Geoffrey seamlessly checking us in, to Kenny Rojers ensuring that every meal was spectacular for the couple from Room Nne (inside joke for Kenny!), Kaka taking us back and forth to our room for safety, and the Chefs coming out to greet us to make sure the food was to our satisfaction (and also setting up a romantic candlelit dinner in the bush under the stars). To the rest of the staff, Thank You as well! The aforementioned accommodations were so spectacular, but of course we were on safari for the animals. Once again, Mara Explorer nailed it. We had our own Landrover vehicle with Joab as our driver. From the outset, Joab very graciously asked us what we would like to see. Since this was our last stop on our overall safari we had scene quite a bit already, but Joab somehow found a way to show us nature in a way that we hadn't experienced. From the leopards and family of 10 lions spotted just outside the camp with a kill, to the drive down to the Mara river for a crossing, the numerous cheetah in hunting mode (I could go on and on). Joab's knowledge to put us in the best viewing spots and friendliness made our game drives all that more pleasant and harder for us to have to leave. Thank you again to everyone at Mara Explorer for an unforgettable journey. We hope to see again sooner than later!

We couldn’t have asked for more from our stay, we had been recommended this camp and had high expectations before we arrived, but from the moment we arrived the exceptional service, the kind and incredibly friendly welcoming staff, the fantastic food, Dennis our guide, the ultimate safari vehicle Landrover to ourselves, the views from restaurant, our tents overlooking the hippos (and lion) in the river down below, the early morning tea and coffee delivered to our tent…..plus so close to the air strip that you can have a full morning game drive before the late morning flight! We will be back!

Mara Explorer has the most incredible hospitality. Each staff member, without exception, is extremely friendly, helpful and effective at complying with any request, no matter how large or small. One night, the security guard, Simeon, entertained us with tales of encounters with lions and buffalos, late in the night around the campfire. Our safari guide, Samson, laid out a breakfast spread for us in the middle of a herd of wildebeest and zebras. It’s the stuff lifelong memories are made of. Samson was an amazing guide, and we had seen all the major animals within our first 2 game drives - in addition to seeing the Wildebeest migration river crossing. We were well looked after by a waiter called Kennyrodgers - an extremely caring and skilled waiter, who made every meal time a time to look forward to. The facilities at Mara Explorer are excellent - you sleep in beautiful luxury tents with en suite facilities and ours had a balcony overlooking the river, and a front row seat to the hippos which bathed there everyday. The food is really good, and they vary the menu every night. The camp is also only 3-5 minutes drive from the airstrip, and conveniently located to all corners of Masai Mara, and nearby Masai village experiences. A wonderful stay, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Mara Explorer camp to anyone.
