We have just returned from our holiday that included 3 night stay at Mara Explorer camp in Masai Mara. The whole experience was once in a life time for us but what made it more memorable was the professional, hospitable and friendly staff at Mara Explorer camp. This includes the guides and drivers, who ensured that we saw all the animals, including (Lions, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephants, Buffalo) several times during our stay. Lawrence and Victor who work at restaurant, reception and everything in between. Chef Shadrack who is a true artist of his trade. The staff members who prepare your tent daily and the security who walk you to and from the rooms during the hours of darkness. The little touches such as leaving hot water bottles every night, arranging a dinner under the stars and sundowners with other guests in the Mara wilderness were truly memorable and something that’ll stay with us forever. We’ll certainly miss the Hyenas calling at dawn across from our tent and the hippos having a scuffle in the river below it. We have every intention to return in a year or two.

We have just returned from our holiday in East Africa that included 3 night stay in Masai Mara between 11th and 14th February. To say that our stay exceeded expectations would be an understatement. Masai Mara experience was once in a life time for us but what made it more memorable was the amazing staff at Mara Explorer camp. From our guide and driver Simon, Lawrence and Victor who were at restaurant, reception and everything in between, Sammy (Samuel) who took care of our tent, chef Shadrack and even the security who walked us to and from the rooms, everyone ensured that we made the most of our time there. The little touches such as leaving hot water bottles every night, arranging a dinner under the stars and sundowners with other guests in the Mara wilderness were truly memorable and something that’ll stay with us forever. We are avid travellers and don’t generally leave reviews (good or bad) after a holiday. However, in this case I am making an exception. The point of this review was to say that if you're visiting Masai Mara then we strongly recommend a stay at Mara explore camp . We intend to return in a couple of years during the migration time and we’ll certainly be enquiring about availability at Mara explorer first.

We stayed in Mara Explorer for 6 nights wich i highly recommend to experience the most and also have time to enjoy and relax in the camp itself. We could skip 2 afternoon drives for swimming in the Main camp because within 3 days we have seen all the animals already. Tents with very comfi beds and sitting/dining area are wonderfull with views at the river with more then 25 hippo,s as permanent residents so always something to watch. The game drives are truly wonderfull with out of this world stops for breakfast, the guides have a lot of knowledge how to find the big cats.We were lucky to watch a mom leopard with 2 cubs as well large pride of lions and cheetah. Don,t forget to enjoy the magnificent views of the Masai Mara and all the other wildlife there is so much to see. The whole Explorer team is out of this world they will pamper you in every way they can. The food is outstanding with a lot of different choice. Thank you so much Explorer team for giving us the time of our life

We have stayed in many camps in East Africa over four safaris, and Mara Explorer Camp is one of our favorites. The staff is superb and provides personal service that makes this camp outstanding. The menu never disappoints. Maisila was our butler and we can't say enough about how well he looked after us, Nelson took care of our tent without fail, and Victor provided overall care. Dennis was our driver/guide and in our opinion is amongst the best in East Africa. We highly recommend Mara Explorer Camp.

6 of us came here for 4 nights. We had been before but this was their first experience. It was just as wonderful as we remembered. We asked Samson to be our driver again and he truly is the Man!!! So knowledgeable and friendly and his driving is second to none, no towing out of rivers for us!!!! We saw everything in our 4 days including rhino, but the highlight was being present at the killing of an impala by a leopard and seeing the leopard drag it up a tree. We also saw a 3 month old lion cub playing with its older sister and following its Mum out in the open. The park fees have gone up from 70dollars/day/person to 100dollars, which has definitely made the park quieter. As for the camp itself, it is expertly run by Mary and Victor. As always the food made by the chefs is wonderful. We had a bush breakfast which was amazing as well as a sundowner experience. Special mention has to go to Malisa our waiter who was lovely and kept our wine glasses full! All of the staff, from the security to the gardeners to the people who look after the tents are brilliant. We will be back.

We just left our Honeymoon of dreams thanks to Mara Explorer and it’s incredible staff and guides! The tents are absolutely wonderful, the little touches by the attentive staff add an element of great surprise (like the hot water bottles and wonderfully strong morning coffee delivered to the tent before the game drives). The food is incredibly tasty and beautifully presented (different menus each day, twice a day to choose from) - thanks to the friendly chef. Victor gave us a warm welcome and Masila was our lovely waiter who made us feel at home as soon as we arrived and always had service with a smile and some nice chat. Most of all, we want to thank Silas who is the most incredible guide, he has such a good eye at spotting animals far in the distance, as well as being able to share his extensive knowledge on the animals and birds in the Mara, he made us feel so relaxed and his skill in driving in tough conditions is admirable, and super exciting. What we saw on our drives was spectacular and that was down to Silas 🐘🐆🦒🦛. Thank you everyone at Mara Explorer for an experience I will never forget. We will be back one day. If you’re thinking of booking this for a special trip, do not hesitate - you will not regret your choice. From Karen & Mark 🥰🥰

My wife and I stayed at Mara Explorer for 6 nights in September 2023. This was our third Safari in Kenya. The Mara Explorer is the most magical and enchanting location for a safari I could ever imagine. Everything was impeccable - the amazingly friendly and professional staff, wonderful hospitality, service, and beautiful food. The tents are an absolute privilege to stay in, especially being woken up to the hippo chorus at each morning! The bed was so comfy - I slept like never before. The drives were just incredible! Witnessing the migration at its peak was a humbling experience. We saw numerous spectacular crossings and the big five. A huge thank you to everyone at Mara Explorer, especially Dominic our guide. Spending several hours a day with him for 6 days was a joy and he tirelessly ensured we found a rhino (on our very last drive!). He is a true gentleman and an expert wildlife guide. I have never experienced 4x4 driving like his - we didn't get stuck once in sometimes very challenging conditions and always made us feel safe and comfortable - as did everyone at the camp. To sum up. If you want a dream 5-star Masai mara safari, choose Mara Explorer. Richard and Katie

This really is the most incredible place with the best hospitality we’ve ever experienced. We had a truly amazing time and were so sad to leave. It was our second safari in the Masai Mara and it totally exceeded expectations. We are recommending it to everyone we know and will certainly return. The location is superb, with hippos, crocodiles and baboons to entertain you as you chill overlooking the river. The team are unbelievable friendly, caring and helpful. A huge thanks to the incredible hospitality of Lawrence and Joseph who do everything they can to meet every need and make every day special, with surprise treats and occasions thrown in. Lawrence became like a friend with his warm personality, quick humour and ability to put everyone at ease, as well as always supplying drinks in a heartbeat! The food was also fabulous, with Shadrack and his team preparing 5 courses every lunch and dinner and again going above and beyond to cater for special occasions. Unbelievable. The tents are luxurious and it is brilliant knowing that you are in the midst of it all, but you are kept safe by the wonderful security team of Kaka, John and Sammy. And last but not least, the game drives with Sakuta were phenomenal. We saw 3 of the big 5 in the first couple of hours and had seen everything by the end. We had a wonderful viewing of an elephant protecting the body of her calf, which had been killed by a pride of 11 lions, who were impatiently waiting to feed. We also saw so much more, including leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, and it’s hard to put into words the special experiences we had. The balloon ride was also phenomenal and well worth the extra cost for an experience of a lifetime. Thank you so much to the Mara Explorer team for this wonderful holiday. We can only hope to return soon!

We had an amazing time at this beautiful place. Right outside are hippos who certainly keep you entertained along with hyenas at night adding to the atmosphere ! The tents are certainly 5 star snd food was fabulous (thanks to the chefs Josephat and Shadrack ). Food exceeded our expectations for every meal with 5 and 7 course meals, all freshly prepared and menus covering every choice. We were looked after by Joseph and Lawrence who made every moment in Camp just perfect- attending to everything we could possibly need. Always there with another beer. The game drives with Dom were superb. He made sure we got to see everything and his experience and expertise ensured that every possible sighting was followed up by being “in the right place” to capture the moment. We even got to see a Leopard hunt and make her kill, seeing animals right up close in their habitat was certainly special. Had a massage in camp snd Ana was also fabulous - certainly recommend. Evenings by the fire with Jonathan also added to our experience and as a Masai himself, we gained a first hand experience of life in Masai Mara. Finally, but not least - Sammy and Kaka with John Lelo ensured we were safe in the open site, patrolling and taking us back to our tent each evening. A special note to Jambo for his singing ! All in all a really memorable time with great people. If you choose to come here you will have the best time !!!
