Kicheche Bush Camp in located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy in the Greater Masai Mara of Kenya. It is a pretty tented bush camp located in a riverine area of the Conservancy with exceptional wildlife viewing and safari drives. The tents are breezy, roomy, comfortable, with plenty of hot water in the bathrooms and a sitting area too. Staff is very friendly, food is delicious and abundant, and the guides are superb and very knowledgeable. Special needs and preferences can be accommodated. There are charging stations, a photo editing area in the main lounge/dining area and comfortable reading and lounging sofas and chairs. This private conservancy is based on the model of sharing of land between communities and wildlife, with excellent management and resulting abundant wildlife viewings. OMC has arguably some of the most amazing big cat sightings anywhere, and low vehicle pressure and tourist numbers. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, ellies, plains game herds, hyenas and cubbies, etc are all around. Excellent photographic opportunities too, as there again are fewer vehicles and people. The owner of the camp is a superb energetic photographer himself, if you get the chance to meet him. We did have an excellent stay, although we also had one very very difficult sad wildlife encounter. The camp staff again were very empathetic and helpful dealing with this situation (not their fault, of course, it is just the nature of being in the bush with wildlife going about their normal lives and existence). I recommend this camp for experienced safari-goers, big cat enthusiasts, photographers, and small groups traveling together.…
What an amazing first safari experience! Our family of 4 adults and 1 child spent 2 nights/3 days in this lovely unfenced camp (with nighttime guards)! The tent accommodations were new and well-maintained; beautifully sited, comfortable and secure with hot and cold running water and 24 hour solar EV-generated power. Wifi was spotty, but who cares, you're on safari! Nightly turn down service and hot water bottles in our beds were a surprise, and appreciated, as the evening weather was chilly during our visit. The food was outstanding with Chef Nicholas and his kitchen staff preparing delicious meals, including game drive breakfasts, lunches under the acacia trees and dinners in the comfortable lodge. Most vegetables are grown in the nearby shamba (garden) and refrigerators and freezers are available. Delish! Best of all are the morning and evening game drives, with incredibly close encounters with wildlife. Our guide Bernard was super knowledgeable and especially tuned-in to photographic nuances (we understand that many of the visitors here are professional photographers). The Conservancy allows for off-track travel, in contrast to the more strict rules of National Parks. Last but not least, a huge shout out to Torbin and all the staff at Kecheche. especially Kennedy and Abraham, who welcomed us with open arms, we're attentive to our every need and exhibited a most professional and friendly manner. We would not hesitate to recommend Kecheche Bush Camp and look forward to our next family visit. Many thanks! The Pattillo Family…
We stayed at three of the Kicheche Camps and while they were all absolutely wonderful, Bush Camp was hands down the best. Darren and Emma made you feel like you were sitting in your living room (well your living room with awesome service). All the staff were super attentive. We rented a lens from Darren and OMG were the pictures stunning. We were 10 so almost took up the entire camp, but Darren and Emma introduced us to the other guests and make everyone feel part of the family. We had a number of food issues in our group and they accommodated us all. The kids all had a ball and our guides were fantastic, including helping us learn to take better pictures. I am still totally amazed by what we experienced. We did a night at fly camp as well and I highly recommend that. The experience walking across the Savannah can not be replaced. No wonder they have so many repeat visitors. My wife and I will be back to hopefully stay a couple weeks and just soak in the wildlife. Thanks to Winnie in the home office for arranging everything and answering all of our questions (and questions and questions). The whole trip was out of this world. You can't go wrong at Kicheche Camps.…
Kicheche Bush Camp is a very special place to visit. Hosts Emma and Darren are really friendly and helpful, as is all the staff. The guides are skilled and fun to spend time with, so game drives are exceptional. When I visited, we saw lions, cheetahs and/or leopards every day. Tents are luxurious and the food is excellent. I'm already thinking about booking another trip for next year!
We spent 4 nights in Kicheche Bush camp in October 2021. The location of the tented camp is excellent, being located in Olare Orok conservancy and close to the border with Masai Mara national reserve. The camp is small, including 6 tents. We had a tent with a fine viewpoint on the bushy savannah. Because the camp is unfenced, we slept in the middle of the wildlife. During the night : - we saw elephants and buffaloes, grazing on the grass and trees around the camp - we heard many lions roaring, spotted hyenas… The tents are very well equipped and clean; the beds are very comfortable. Good hospitality of the staff and of the managers Daren and Emma. The staff is also attentive to guests and ready to help us. The restaurant is located in a heaven of peace. The food was good, although it was not was not in line with the standard of the lodges Kicheche, which might be improved Exceptional level of knowledge and competence of the guide Charles, who speaks English fluently. We were also absolutely amazed by his outstanding availability and ability to listen to us. He enabled us to see many animals (e.g. lions, cheetahs, leopards, caracal, serval cats with cubs, black backed jackals, spotted hyenas,...) during unforgettable day game drives in the Masai Mara national reserve. CONGRATULATIONS!!! We HIGHLY recommend to ask the managers for him as a guide if you stay in Kicheche Busk camp !!!…
We spent three delightful nights at this wonderful camp. Our hosts Emma and Darren were outstanding; they were helpful, personable and informative. Evening bonfires were great. The tents are comfortable, pristinely maintained, and spaced perfectly for privacy. Our knowledgeable safari guide Nelson was fantastic. Loved his sense of humor! The game drives were spectacular. Kudos to the chef and his capable staff for providing delectable, gourmet cuisine. We were sad to leave this beautiful spot in the Mara.
We visited several camps and this was our favorite for many reasons. First, the food, just outstanding. We had specific needs and they met all of them flawlessly. I am gluten free and the gf sourdough was simply out of this world as was everything they served! So fresh and unique and it pleased the palate of 3 teenage girls which is impressive! The tents impeccable and private. I personally loved loved loved the bucket shower because after all it is a safari! The nightly fire was lovely. Darren and Emma were just wonderful hosts, so sad we didn’t stay longer! Charles our safari guide found us so many animal viewing opportunities and allowed my husband some incredible sunset photo ops. Everything top notch! And all the staff-how could I forget the most lovely and helpful people, they were kind, helpful and loved their jobs. Can’t wait to go back!!!!…
We had a wounderful time at Kicheche Bush Camp and three nights were definitely too short. Darren and Emma are very nice hosts who take care of each and every guest with great empathy and with the english humor I really like. It is very amusing to follow their stories. The game drives were sensational and our guide Charles did everything so that I could photograph giraffes at sunset the way I wanted to. Of course we also saw lions and leopards and we could extensively witness a group of elephants. Each guest gets their own really good water bottle to use during the game drives and then keep as a gift, a very nice gesture. Every night, except for the last night, we received hot water bottles in bed, which we were very happy about. The food was just great and the staff took loving care of us. I found it very pleasant that all the guests were seated at one large table. But most of all we enjoyed the relaxed, laid-back atmosphere in the camp, which I will miss very much. We will definitely come back and then stay a little longer. …
Our time at Kicheche was fantastic. We stayed at both the valley and bush camp as well as fly camp and every aspect of our safari was fantastic. Our guides were amazing and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. I’ve been going on safari since the 80s and I’ve never seen so much game in such a short period of time. However, what really made our trip so successful was Minnie, the GM of valley camp. She was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure our stay there was perfect. We had several flights canceled while there and without her the second half of our trip would not have happened. Her professionalism, courtesy, and kindness are outstanding, and Kicheche as a whole was a great experience.
I recently returned to Kicheche Bush Camp, having visited in December 2020, but omitted to write a review! My second visit did not disappoint and I had a fabulous four night stay, hosted brilliantly by Darren and Emma. I was guided by Nelson, a truly great guide; he is extremely knowledgeable as well as personable and professional in equal amounts. I saw lots during my stay, although the leopards were more shy than in December. But I did see Fig, the very well known leopard in these parts, as well as cheetah and lion aplenty, a serval cat, elephant, buffalo... and all the usual suspects! I was also extremely lucky to see a pangolin, a very rare sighting indeed, and my first after many safaris. The camp is set in a very lovely area and the photographic opportunities are great for both the wildlife and views. The tent was lovely with everything you may need. The food was excellent and I had lots of delicious vegetarian meals. The wine is great too! Everyone at the camp was friendly and the service superb. I couldn't recommend Kicheche Bush Camp more highly. Thank you all there for making a memorable stay.…
