We stayed at Kicheche Bush camp as part of our honeymoon. It was our first ever safari experience and we've shot ourselves in the foot a bit there because I don't think this experience could ever be topped...! The tents are beautiful, the entire team are so welcoming and friendly, the food is exquisite, the guides are fantastic (Nelson was ours, we saw SO much...even a cheetah on the drive from the airstrip to the camp!), and Darren and Emma are perfect hosts. We were made to feel very welcome. We very much hope to return again. Thank you to the entire team for making this part of our honeymoon completely unforgettable.

From the minute we arrived until we left 4 days later we felt at home in this truly magical place. Greeted by Emma and Darren the managers and not forgetting Frank their Jack Russell we were made to feel welcome and it was like coming into their home. The camp is small only 6 tents and everyone eats lunch and dinner together which is a great way to get to know your fellow guests. Tents are well spread out and are extremely well appointed with everything you could need, being spacious and looking out over the bush. The camp is completely unfenced which adds to the magic and the feeling of being very much part of it all. You do get visits by lions, elephants etc and the wilderbeast chorus every morning was better than any alarm clock! Our guide was Charles who was extremely knowledgeable and had an amazing knack of getting the jeep in just the right spot for a perfect photo opportunity every time. Because you are in the conservancy it is much much quieter than being in the main Mara reserve which means you never have the jostling of vehicles when there is something special to see. The food was amazing including the packed breakfasts every morning and sundowners snacks. This truely is a very special place and certainly one we will be returning to very soon.

From the moment we arrived, Bush Camp, managed by its wonderful hosts, delivered a truly great experience. Our welcome made it feel like home and we soon hit the seamless rhythm of the camp - relaxed, celebrating Africa and the whole safari experience, and being able to blend into this fantastic part of the planet. The staff were fantastic. Darren and Emma (despite heavy cold) made our time and that of all the guests feel like friends getting together and enjoying a relaxed time. This is a pretty unique skill. The real star was the conservancy itself. But this was brought to life by the legend that is Charles, our guide. Lions - face off with Hyenas, ten day old cubs, massive males, an injured Lioness that hadn’t been seen for 4 years. Leopards - the eponymous Fig and her daughter plus a young male. Cheetah, Elephants, Buffalo aplenty. And of course Wildebeest. In his inimitable, relaxed way, Charles showed us this in all its glory. The highest praise I can give Bush Camp, is that I almost don’t want anyone else to realise how good this place is. For anybody that loves safari, and being immersed in the purity of an African experience, this is the place for you.

I just returned from a most excellent week at Kicheche Bush Camp. Everything about the camp was top notch, from the phenomenal animal sightings to the luxurious tents to the incredible cuisine. Darren and Emma are amazing, welcoming hosts. You stay in tents, but it very much feels like they have welcomed you into their home. One note – this is an unfenced campsite – so you sometimes share the outdoor space with lions, elephants or wildebeests. You’re always with a Masai Askari escort after dark, so it does not feel unsafe, but you do need to be aware you may see or hear animals near your tent. Also, don’t forget insect repellent. The flies can be a little aggressive. If you fancy a generic hotel or room service, this will not be your place. But if you’re looking for a memorable safari with great animal sightings, hosts who quickly become friends and accommodations that include comfortable tents and five-star restaurant quality meals, you may want to give Kicheche Bush Camp a try.

We spent 1 night at Fly Camp (full moon a lucky bonus) and then enjoyed a beautiful 2 hour walk to Bush Camp for our last 2 nights in Kenya. Emma and Darren provided us with a very warm welcome upon our arrival and after showers (love those eco friendly bucket showers) we joined the rest of the guests for a delightful lunch under the trees. Charles, our guide, was wonderfully knowledgeable about all aspects of Kenya, including of course the animals and culture. He was very helpful with photography tips for my son-in-law and knew exactly where to line us up for that perfect sunset shot. On our first afternoon drive, Charles found a beautiful pair of leopards and to see them that close to the vehicle was just unbelievable. In addition to the wonderful hosts and staff, I have to say the highlight of our stay was the unforgettable birthday celebration Bush Camp provided for my daughter’s 30th birthday. After lunch, the entire staff, in full Masai tribal attire, danced and sang their beautiful music for my daughter. Thankfully Darren had tipped me off in advance and I have it all on video....and to top it off, a bottle of champagne for our sundowner and last night in camp. Many thanks to everyone at KB for a truly unforgettable stay!
