Detailed Reviews
Where to begin! Stunning property with rooms sorry tents on the edge of the river. The tents fashioned practically and also aesthetically beautiful. Lovely deck to sit out on good weather days.
Most days was a limited and fixed menu, the food was decent. I would only say avoid any Indian bread/roties. On days of the buffet, the spread was pretty awesome.
What sets this place apart though is the staff. Our safari driver and guide - Jeremiah with 21 years under his belt, one of the most entertaining and knowledgeable guys to get to go on the Mara rides. He helped us spot all of the big 5. If you can I would specifically request for him as the guide.
Our lunch and dinner waiter - Peter, who went out of the way to make sure we had what we wanted on our plates and on the last night we got a complimentary cake and song routine that made our evening :)
Also special mention to the housekeeping stuff, Adan who constantly kept our room ready, hot water bottles for the cold night and even left us some local jewellery as souvenirs we could take back.
I have stayed at many places but hands down the staff here is the best I have had the pleasure to interact with. Combined with the dreamy property, well it was a dream stay! Thank you Fairmont Mara!

Came to Kenya with my husband for our 6th anniversary and spent the first few days here at the Fairmont! It’s been an amazing experience. We flew in on Saturday morning via AirKenya and our wonderful driver/guide for our time here, Timan picked us up. We had a 1 hour drive back to the hotel from the small airstrip and it was like a game drive in itself! We saw many animals on the way to the hotel and we were able to stop and take pictures along the way. Once we arrived we were offered hot towels at the entrance and then we sanitized to enter. The check in process was done with Karong’a was simple and informative. We were able to go to our beautiful tent around 10:30am and rest before lunch. The tent is gorgeous. We’ve stayed at several outdoor style hotels in many countries but this by far was the best! The tent has bathrobes, hot water, coffee and tea maker and Caleb who helps keep the tent running was so kind and helpful. We went on a game drive around 3:30pm after lunch with Timan and were able to see many more animals and the sunset. The meals were very good and having the option to eat indoors or outdoors was lovely either way. Mumbi was so sweet at every meal. At the first meal, when we first arrived, I happened to ask for honey with my coffee. For the next few days whenever I asked for coffee she always remembered that I enjoyed honey with my coffee. A small but incredibly impressive and personal touch to show the level of kindness, professionalism, and service from the hotel, The turndown service included putting a hot water bottle in the bed to keep it warm and it was perfect. Even though it was chilly outside between the comforter on the bed and the water bottle we were very comfortable. The next day after breakfast we went on an all day safari to the Maasai Mara Narok conservatory which was about an hour and half drive away to see the migration. The non resident fee was $80 per person. Once inside we saw Lions, elephants, many zebra and wildebeest as well as giraffes and more. The following morning we went on a nature walk with Joseph. We went relatively close to the hotel but it was beautiful to see the nature and animals in the morning. Joseph was very knowledgeable and kind.
We did check out with Karong’a and Faith at the end and they were so kind. I 10/10 recommend this hotel for your safari experience. The price is unbeatable and the details and quality are top notch. I hope to be able to return again one day. Thank you so much to the lovely staff at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club!

The Fairmont Mara Safari Club was lovely, on our arrival we were greeted at the door by a member of staff with a warm flannel, as happened when we also returned from every dusty game drive.
Everyone greeted us as we walked through the lobby, and on a daily basis, with the greeting “Jambo” (the Swahili for Hello) and everyone had a smile on their face.
Our tent/room was spacious with a large and comfortable bed, shower and toilet, phone charging facilities and a room safe. The latter was essential as there no room keys as the tent had a long zipper for an entrance, you kept this well and truly closed to prevent monkeys from coming in searching for food (though we never saw one near our tent)
Each tent had a veranda that overlooked the Mara river below, and it took a little while to get used to the noise of snorting hippos that seemed to be permanent residents there.
The food in the restaurant was very good, varying from buffet to à la carte depending on the number of guests. We were treated to barbecue in their outdoor restaurant area, with a performance by Masai warriors and the drinks prices were very reasonable too.
Where they excelled was with their game drives, we had the same driver throughout our stay, Mike, and he was brilliant at finding animals hidden in grassland and bush. In the first day and a half we had seen all of the big five! I cannot praise him enough, though he did have one flaw, he was an Arsenal supporter. How he went off-road in the big Toyota Land Cruiser and found us hidden gems was incredible, finding tracks we couldn’t even see that led to a den of lions or a family of well fed cheetahs.
We talked to other guests in the bar and they agreed, some had been to other parts of Africa and they were impressed at how close the vehicles got to the animals in the Masai Mara. On drives elsewhere they had stuck to well used tracks and only seen animals from a distance.
I think we were really lucky in staying at the Fairmont for both the accommodation, the location and especially the staff.
I would recommend the Fairmont to anyone.

What can I say? This was a once in a lifetime wonderful experience. We stayed 3 nights at the Fairmont and it was amazing. Got to the Fairmont from Nairobi, by Safarilink flight on the 6th and the minute we landed there were Zebra's, Baboons and Wilderbeast running around the landing strip. We were picked up at the landing strip by our amazing guide Nicholas who took amazing care of us for the next three days. He made sure he took us to see all the animals including 2 White Rhinos, who are protected and held separately from the other animals, and he did an amazing job driving in the rain on the second day of our visit.
The hotel faces a river, which is teeming with Hippo's, and on the other side it is surrounded by an electric fence (the voltage is not high enough to kill any animals just sufficient to sting them a little) and faces the Mara. The hotel lies inside a private conservancy and the rooms are tents, with a toilet and bathroom. The best tents face the river, and preferably choose one close to the main hotel area.
There are two tours of the Mara daily one in the morning from 6:30 to 8:30 AM and another is from 3:30 to 6:30 PM. For the morning you can have a wake up call of coffee and cookies at 6:00 AM. Breakfast is served at 9:00 AM after the first Mara trip in the morning, lunch around 12:30 PM, and dinner around 7:00 PM. The food is excellent and caters to everyone's tastes. Lunch and dinner include two starters, a main and dessert. Drinks are very reasonably priced. The hotel also has a pool, which would be worth chilling in when the temperatures are warm. I believe there is also a massage service offered inside the hotel, which starts after breakfast, but you need to book in advance as there is only 1 masseuse.
As we visited during a period of high rain, everything in the Mara was green and the animals looked fat and happy.
We saw plenty of giraffe, zebra, antelope, impala, bushbucks, elephants, wilderbeasts, hippos. cheetah and lions.
Some other options which the hotel offers included a balloon ride through the Mara, an evening sunset cocktail, which we unfortunately could not do as it was raining like crazy, dinner in the wild and a visit to a Masai village.
The staff are very nice, warm and helpful, and go out of their way to make the stay wonderful and memorable.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club. Everything about our time there was wonderful. We had very high expectations coming into this trip, and it exceeded those expectations on all accounts.
Our daily game drives were excellent- we saw all of the "big five" and learned SO much about the wildlife, land and Maasai people. The Fairmont itself is beautiful, and the accomodations are so unique and cool to stay in a tent (a really nice tent with running water and all the amenities of a normal hotel room) overlooking the Mara River. The food at the lodge restaurant is delicious too!
Our Safari guide, Anthony ("Tony") was excellent, and we could not speak more highly of him. He is brilliant and knows so much about the Mara. We had a blast with him daily on our game drives.
Our dining room server, Dennis, was fantastic- so helpful and a hard worker. We loved getting to talk to him at each meal and spend time getting to know him.
Our room attendant, Ntaiya, was wonderful. He would bring us coffee and tea each morning with a smile on his face. We really enjoyed talking to him as well. He is so kind and hardworking.
Our final night, they treated us to a special private dinner overlooking the Mara River, and it was something we will never forget!
We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to spend a week here (which we definitely recommend doing if you can!) and get to know the wonderful people at the Fairmont Mara. They made our experience unforgettable. And we are already planning our return!
Thank you, Fairmont Mara (and Tony, Dennis and Ntaiya) for a wonderful trip that we will treasure forever!
P.S. Their Instagram account (@fairmontmara) does an excellent job of showing a picture of what it's like to stay there.

The Fairmont Mara Safari Club far exceeded our expectations for our recent family Safari vacation. From the time that we stepped out of our plane, we were greeted by Fairmont staff who took care of our every need. Our “glamping” accommodations in our luxury tents were very comfortable. To be greeted each morning with hot coffee or tea & cookies by our Steward, Samuel, was a treat. Dennis warmly welcomed us to our table for each and every meal in the dining area and made sure that we enjoyed the local offerings. He even taught us a few Swahili words and made us feel like we were a part of the Fairmont family. Our Safari guide, Anthony (Tony) was amazing - educating us about the culture of the Massai people and the Mara itself. We saw the big five and beyond up close and personal. We expected to fall in love with the animals, but falling in love with the people and the Fairmont was a real gift. Our lives will be forever changed for the better from our experience.

I am so fortunate to be able to come here again. Although I came alone, it is also suitable for families. There is a small swimming pool with sunloungers around it.
The sleeping accomodation consists of permanent tents and so luxourious. Your room attendant will do everything within his/her power to make your stay there as comfortable as you could hope for.
The dining area is either a table beside the Mara River, or in the dining room. There is a spendid choice for your meals, sometimes a la carte, sometimes buffet style. They are happy to meet your diet if the choices are not suitable for you - just let them know soonest!
The grounds are beautiful with tall trees giving shade to the tents, and many beautiful birds to see and listen to. A stroll around the grounds and you can go to Hippo Corner and watch the hippos and maybe a croc or two.
However it is the safaris that everyone goes for and they are unbelievable. Two regular drives every day, early morning and late afternoon which avoids the midday heat when the big cats will be sheltering in the shade of the bush. There is an opportunity to see all of the big five if you are lucky, and many many more incredible animals.
The location is in Ol Choro Oiroua Conservancy which permits going off road to get closer to the animals. All the drivers are excellent guides, drivers and very knowledgeable about the Flora and Fauna in the area.
Thank you to the whole team for such a memorable time.

The traditional Maasai greeting at the airport set the tone for a memorable stay. This beautiful resort which is completely surrounded by fencing and protected from visits by the local animals who live just on the other side of the gates overlooks a river loaded with hippos. You may awaken to animal sounds in the middle of the night. The luxurious tents include en suite bathrooms and beds that have USB ports built in. Tea and/ or coffee and cookies arrive to announce the start of another amazing day. There are two game drives daily. Our guide made sure that we got to see the "big five" during our two day stay. We also ended up taking a balloon ride that sailed right over our tents. Beverages in the bar were fairly expensive all things considered. I liked the fact that there was always an Indian option at lunch but overall food and beverages were the least memorable part of our stay.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway with adventure and luxury, this place is IT! We stayed in the deluxe riverfront tent, overlooking hippos and crocodiles! Our fully powered tent also had a comfortable four-poster bed, a bathroom, and both an indoor & outdoor shower! And yes, there's a blow dryer! There's no wifi in the tent which enhances the experience of being off the grid. There is access to wifi in the main lobby/restaurant area.
For game drives, there are two options: early morning and late afternoon. Our guide Mike was fun knowledgeable and did a good job finding so many animals (lions, elephants, cheetahs, and much more).. During downtime, we enjoyed the pool, a soothing massage, and relaxed on our deck.
The culinary experience here was nothing short of amazing. We dined at the hippo deck for dinner, had a bush breakfast, and had an interactive lunch where we had a farm-to-table experience with Chef Haziz! Special thanks to the general manager Steve for curating our unforgettable stay, and to our F&B team Dennis and Martin for showing us an incredible culinary experience throughout our stay. They went above and beyond. I would recommend this hotel to luxury travelers, honeymooners, and couples!

You do go to the Mara Reserve but all fees are included in your stay at the Fairmont. You don’t pay extra when you are on the drives.
Full board and two drives daily are included. Drinks with meals and bar items are extra.
Hotel has a recreation desk & they guide you with everything !
You are actually on the park where you stay, so you dont have to drive to the parks you are staying in the heart of the park, this makes this an amazing hotel
the hotel has a daily conservation fee - but honestly you wont regret paying this, its worth every penny
