It was the most incredible experience of my life. We were treated like royalty thanks to Cylenka for our dining experience. Richard (Guide) That gave me a trip I’ll never forget. The meals were A+ with chef Enoch! I also would like to thank the rest of the guys who always took care of us back to our tent in the evenings. Everyone always made sure we were safe and felt safe. Thank you so much! I’ll be back for sure! 😁
My fiance and I stayed at Basecamp Maasai Mara for 2 nights and their sister property, Eagle View in Naibosho Coservancy, for 1 night. Right from being picked up at the airstrip in the Mara to drop off, we had an excellent stay. We had the "Obama tent" at Basecamp that overlooks the river and has a lovely deck with a swing and sitting area. Our meals were great and they paid attention to the presentation of the food. We are vegetarians and there was always a veggie option on the day's menu. Manfred was our Maasai guide and driver for all our game drives and he took great care of us. I picked this property to stay at because they are eco-friendly and are truly investing in conservation as well as in the local community. Definitely recommend.
Thank you for an excellent stay at Basecamp Explorer in Masai Mara last July. Our family of seven spent 2 nights at Basecamp Masai Mara, 2 at Leopard Hill and 2 at Eagel View. It was a lifetime experience to see the animals so close. Our guide, Derek, has to be the very best of all possible guides. He has a deep professional knowledge, he knew where to go to see different animals, and he took care of us in a kind, service minded and flexible way. He was fantastic and so was the total experience. Each and everyone from Tyson who met us at the airport, all those who gave us so excellence food and service at the camps, Derek who guided us, as well as Diana at the office, gave a warm, kind and professional service. The experience is also much more authentic when it all over is based on the Maasai culture and brought to the guest by the Maasai people. Everyone who have the pleasure to visit Basecamp Explorer in Masai Mara will remember it for the rest of their lives. Best regards, Karl Eirik Schjøtt-Pedersen, Norway…
We spent 5 night with Basecamp Explorer, 3 in Masai Mara Basecamp and 2 at Wilderness. Great experience all around. Guide Manfred first class. Food very nice. This company really seems to care about the local community, which is a big plus. In terms of value for money, their Naboisho camps are much better, as we found the tent in the Basecamp a bit basic.
I travelled with a Canadian friend who had never been to Africa, to Kenya or on a safari. She was totally overwhelmed by this first experience. I am a Kenyan and have been in many camps in the Mara and in the conservancies but specially enjoyed my first visit to Basecamp through her eyes. This ecolodge is in an ideal location by the Talek River and the tent we had faced the river. The food (by Chef Enock), the staff (including Cylenka), the guide (Richard) and the whole experience of being in a warm family who showered us with loving attention was amazing.
