If you're looking at Matira, you know you're not looking at a 5 star grand hotel. You're looking at a bush camp that facilitates the point of your trip: seeing the wildlife. Matira provides an excellent option for this - just make sure you know what you're booking (we did and were happy): Location: Amazing. In a wooded area with... More

This is a wonderful camp. Excellent location, comfortable, great food, knowledgeable staff, superb guides. We saw a lot, including leopards, cheetahs, lions, a bat-eared fox, and a crossing of wildebeest and zebra. Saw 3 zebra get taken down by crocs. I've been to the Mara 6 or 7 times, and I highly recommend this camp.

Just returned from a great stay at Matira. Location of the camp can't be beat, we were lucky that the migration started early this season and had huge herds right outside the camp. Super-friendly staff, great food.

When you visit Masai Mara as a serious wildlife enthusiast, its all about location. You need to choose a property well located to enable you to find the wildlife of your interest when the light is best- early mornings. For that purpose alone, its hard to beat Matira. The lodge also has good staff who make sure you are well... More

When traveling here, you'd better be with someone who knows the location as there are no signs. We were coming from Mara Serena which means you have to cross the river. This can be a little challenging when it has rained. As people have commented, it is in a good location for spotting wildlife. There were a number of big... More

Great place to spend time in the Mara bush . The girls and guys there are so nice and accommodating . We were a tough crowd to please for meals but they did an excellent job . You are in tents that have there own toilets and showers . Very comfortable . Our first day there was zebras , buffalo... More

Being among the wildebeest migration was incredible and the wildlife we encountered will stay in my memory forever. But why stay at this camp rather than any of the others? I think it beautifully combines simplicity, comfort and value. We knew we were in tents but were pleasantly surprised by the level of comfort we encountered. The previous reviews have... More

The actual camp - the camp was fantastic. this has got a lot to do with the location, you are in the middle of masaai mara and the game drive begins literally outside the perimeter of the camp. you fall asleep to the sounds of hippos and hyenas, and if you're lucky you'll have lions relaxing up in the trees....
