We are young(only in mid 30's :-)) couple and we spent 3 days in Mara sidai camp. we had booked our tour to masai mara via Josphet(reservation manager). The camp itself is beautiful, and well kept with basic amenities. When they learnt we were vegetarians the camp manager(joseph) had arranged for Indian chappathis with veg curry(excellent compared to african standards)... More

Mara Sidai was a great experience. Tends are great, food is excellent, the staff is amazing....I've never been in a place that I felt so connected and welcome before. The place is located very close to the main park entrance and a local community and this makes a huge difference. From Mara Sidai camp you eventually can see giraffes and... More

Mara Sidai Camp is excellent for a budget traveler. Good food, clean tents, friendly staff. It is currently undergoing upgrade which looks very good already. The location is ideal for game drives as it is very near the gate to Masai Mara Game Reserve.

I stayed in this camp for two nights during a Safari tour to Masai Mara, the staff was friendly and the food was okay. I got my own tent which was nice but dirty, even directly after the cleaning ladies been there it was still as dirty.

Expect budget style accommodation. Permanent tents on a concrete slab with an ensuite at the rear. The tents have a raised bed on the inside but these don't fit very well and had quite a slope to fit. Lighting is poor, and water is not hot. Generator runs for a few hours a day but the powerpoint connection in our... More

Mara Sidai Camp: a place where one is welcomed so warmly and looked after so well..a home away from home. We are happily surprised at how good it is to wake up with the sunrise. The tent has a toilet and shower. The bed is very short for a tall man. Fresh air was still a good night's sleep. The chef is very attentive. My husband does not eat onions. When the cook saw that he is not eating, he... More

This is a basic camp. Tent and attached bathroom with soft mattresses and 24 hour hot water supply. Electricity is available 5.30-7 in morning and 7.30-10.30 in night. The property is extremely serene and beautiful and very close to Masaai mara gate and masaai villages. Food is excellent home -cooked with enough vegetarian options. There is bonfire in night as... We had a great time at Mara Sidai camp! The property is absolutely beautiful-there are lots of trees and flowers. The power goes out at 10, which was not a problem for us since we had early game drives in the morning! This was actually a very good thing-since the camp was dark, the stars were shining bright! The tents... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The camp comprises 23 luxurious en-suite tents. Each tent has a private bathroom and water is heated by charcoal boiler . Camp facilities include a restaurant , a bar and a lounge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the restaurant but one can also choose to enjoy a romantic bush dinner served beneath the starlit African night. Bush breakfast is the perfect surprise after an exciting morning game drive with astonishing view over the Mara plains. We at Mara Sidai are passionate about cooking and our chefs have put together a tantalizing assortment of their own original recipes that capture the taste of long gone colonial days from French, English, Italian and Danish classical cooking. Our menu also includes food from the international cuisines or best of all, exotic traditional Kenyan meals are also served. ... more   less
