we booked Enchoro as we were looking for budget accommodation and we were told it is right outside the entrance of the park, which is true. We booked a superior double tent. The tent was clean and the bed was comfortable so we slept well both nights, waking up to the sound of birds. The shower was barely warm and without any pressure so taking a shower was a challenge. the power (supplied by a generator) was not strong enough to properly light the tent or restaurant, so in the evening the whole place was quite dark and we needed to use our phone flash light. Food was ok.overall i would say that for the price we paid we did not expect more, so if you are looking for budget accommodation while you enjoy the safari, Enchoro will do the job.

I‘m writing this review, not only because the tour was everything we‘d hoped for (I was a bit unsure at first if everything will work out), but also because I got absolutely frustrated beforehand trying to find a good camp with mostly positive reviews.

We booked the three day, two nights tour. I immediately reached June on the phone and she patiently and always quickly replied to all my questions the following days until we booked. Here it‘s important to book through (!) Enchoro Wildlife Camp and not any travel agency which just uses the camp for accomodation purposes, it seems some negative reviews are here for that reason. For us everything was reliable and they picked us up on time at the hotel in Nairobi.

Our driver Thomas, was amazing. He always went the extra mile for us and received the nickname „Big Eye“ from us; he saw so many hidden animals. The communication was easy-going and all the departure and dinner times were communicated well.

The camp staff was so friendly and the tents have lights and warm water if you let it run for a while. After a safari day a cold shower isn‘t the worst either though. The water is clean and the toilets flush.
Recently they built new tents and are currently expanding their facilities further.
They have enough chargers in the restaurant area. If Kenya power fails, they put on the generator, so there‘s always power.

The food is absolutely amazing, options for everyone. Say hello to the extremely nice cook Steve from me, if you happen to read this and go there. They also have a bar with soft and hard drinks.
Everything is clean and I can‘t think of anything to complain about if I‘m honest.

I sincerely hope someone is searching for a budget safari and reads this; you can stop searching now and book Enchoro.

We traveled as a family of five, two adults two kids one infant, Looking to exploit the beautiful nature of Masai Mara, fortunately we came across African Home Adventure Safari who took care of our accomodations and safari form Nairobi SGR terminus to Masai Mara and back. Thank you Mr Albert and Alan for making a dream come true.
This campsite is situated a few minutes drive from Oloolaimutai gate of Masai Mara. They provide the best budgeted Tent Accomodation for Safari Goers.
The tents have different names instead of numbers for there identity.. We stayed in tents named Mount Kenya and lake Victoria. The tents were fully equipped and self contained with hot shower and electricity 24/7... The beddings were very comfortable.
We were booked on full board basis, meals were served on buffet basis for breakfast, lunch and dinner except on a day of full day safari where they provide you with packed lunch. Food was plenty with different varieties and very delicious. Chef George was always on his toes making sure guests were satisfied.
The staff were very friendly and always helpful Jacobs , Naserian and the rest of the team thumbs up...
To conclude with I will always recommend this campsite anytime.. You will have the best time of your life in this little paradise in Masai Mara..

Sad we were only there for 1 night, if visiting Masai Mara then I recommend staying here… we were greeted with a very warm welcome by the Receptionist, who introduced herself as Stella & another member of staff whose name sadly escapes me, he helped take our cases to our tent & made sure we had everything we needed, we had arrived as the sun set so it was dark very quickly so unfortunately didn’t get to see very much in daylight hours on arrival.
We were called 20 minutes later as dinner was ready & made our way to the dining area.
I loved the fact that it was an open area slightly raised from the ground with a straw type roof (from what I could determine in the dark)
We helped ourselves to food comprising a tasty meat casserole type dish with carrots & onion etc… accompanied with rice & cut up slices of chapati, also another dish that I believe was a lentils type but didn’t try it. What I had was very tasty & actually had 2nd helpings 😁 followed by some refreshing Watermelon, whilst enjoying a glass of red wine & hubby had a beer.

Such a shame that there were so few of us staying the night we were there, we only saw a group of 4 others, who retired to bed straight after dinner.

A fire had been lit by one of the Masai for us to all sit around & talk but sadly we too were so tired after our extremely long day that we also returned to our tent & were in bed just before 9pm.

Tent was clean, flooring good, Bed was very comfortable with comfy pillows & we both slept very well. We felt very safe in our tent & the facilities were quite adequate for a budget camp, with flushing loo & hot & cold shower, hanging space for clothes should you be staying longer & electric lights.
If you want a power shower, rugs on the floor & coffee making facilities, this is not the place for you
BUT …. if you want fabulous staff with a friendly face & made to feel welcomed, with good wholesome food, a comfortable place to sleep, followed by a good breakfast then look no further…
ENCHORO will supply all this & MORE
Stella was brilliant, her & the team work together to create a great Camp … we hope to visit you again … thank you Stella 😁

REMEMBER to take a 🔦 torch with you to find your way to your tents in the dark … we admittedly also had help from staff but if it’s busy there aren’t enough staff to guide everyone over any tree roots on the ground! 😊

We stayed here for two nights and found the staff to be pleasant and accommodating. Jacob was amazing in giving us directions to the camp seeing as we came quite late and organised a fantastic game drive for us with our Maasai guide and driver Jonathan and Sasini. We managed to see all the animals we wanted to see and received useful explanations throughout the drive. However, the food could be better and the rooms including the bathroom could also be improved so they are not dull and look more welcoming.

I was quite impressed with their superior rooms featuring ensuite bathrooms compartment for clothes and valuables and the interior of the tents were very spacious. Meals were very delicious considering the style of service was ( buffet) . I must say I had the best value for my money and if time and money come I'll be back again and again.

Thank you so much John for taking an interest in our camp and staying with us during your safari. I am glad that you chose Enchoro as your place to have a therapeutic moment for your soul. It is very necessary, I believe, for everyone to spend some quiet time alone for retrospect. This is good for overall mental health. I appreciate your kind words about our facilities which we endeavoured for the past few years to revamp. You are more than welcome to visit with us again even with your friends and family to see other new highlights. Once again thank you for choosing to stay with us.

We were on a self drive safari and google maps told us to go through Sekenani gate. They wanted us to pay for entry (even though the accommodation is nearer the other gate). Anyway, the tent itself is fine. Not very clean, quite dark. I feel they should cut some trees down to make it a little less humid. Felt like we were sleeping in a pool of water (humidity). Food was basic but they were very accommodating to make some pancakes for my kids. We traveled with young kids. Maybe if just adults the stay would have been a bit better. We had a booking for 3 nights but had enough after 2. Staff were nice to entertain our requests. We had strong mosquito killers and protectors so we didn't get bitten much. Enjoy :)

We are glad you sent us your feedback about your stay with us. It's quite unfortunate that you went through the hustle while driving to our camp. The Sekenani gate officials having their own set rules gave us very little control over the situation but we are glad you managed it well. Next time you try to access the camp through Oloolaimutiek gate. We try as much as possible to leave and keep the environment unaltered and that its only our camp that has kept its natural beauty with trees all over but we assure you that the darkness was caused by the dark clouds due to the rains at the time you visited. Otherwise the place is usually well lit. Thank you for appreciating our staff, we are glad you enjoyed the meals and that the baby was also well taken care of. Thank You!

Our stay at Enchoro Camp by Masai Mara was fantastic thanks to excellent staff and great accommodations. We were greeted by Jacob who spoke great English and helped orient us when we arrived; George, the chef during our stay, cooked great foods for us; and all the staff were friendly and professional. We enjoyed the bonfire held after dinner to meet and talk to some of the Masai people. Our tent was clean, had hot water, electricity, and very comfortable. We were very impressed with the bathroom extension that had toilet, shower, and sink neatly organised & separated. Overall, would absolutely recommend this camp!

Myself and my girlfriend spent 4 days at enchoro camp whilst experiencing the maasai Mara. The camp was both beautiful and amazingly authentic. The staff were very kind, welcoming and helpful and catered for every need. The food was simple but very tasty and represents typical food around the Mara. The tents were fantastic and you felt like you were really experiencing Africa how it should be experienced. We were also lucky enough to have Thomas as our guide. He is one of the most incredible people I have ever met. He was extremely hard working, respectful, kind, honest and generous. He tailored our trip to our every need and has the experience that allows you to see everything you could ever want on safari. Thomas is both professional and friendly and if you ever visit Kenya I highly recommend requesting him as a guide, whatever you choose to do. Enchoro lodge and Thomas, we can’t thank you enough for making our safari experience so much better than our wildest expectations. If you want an authentic African safari where you can really immerse yourself in the culture and put your phone away for a few days then choose Enchoro lodge and choose Thomas!
