A beautiful tented camp in the heart of the Maasai Mara. Charles and his team run a 6* service. Maasai escort you to and from your tents, your tent is prepared at night with screens closed, lights on, bed turned down and chocolate on your pillow The food is fantastic, all of it, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Lots... More

This is a tented encampment. The tents are huge, spotless, and have ensuite facilities with a tiled floor. The rooms are cleaned daily and to a very high standard. There is a large dining tent which serves high quality and varied food. I am a very fussy eater but was delighted with the quality. There is a large inside lounge... More

Located near Talek gate, it was an excellent site for game viewing. You can actually cross a bridge and get picked up inside the park. Tents were comfortable and plumbing was high quality. Food good. Great customer service. No complaints!

Tent was fantastic and very clean , you will find two little treats left in your bed before going to sleep. Camp design adds alot to the experience , masai people always present between tents to observe any wild animals approaching. In the early morning l was able to enjoy my breakfast watching giraffes very close. Food is very good... More

We flew into the airstrip from Wilson airport and were met by John our Masai guide. On the way to the camp we saw lots of animals including some lionesses with Cubs. We got within about 6 feet of them and got some great photos. When we got into camp we were shown to our private table for lunch which... More

I didn't know what to expect before I came. To be honest I was expecting a tent crawling with bugs, but this wasn't the case at all! The only thing I saw was a tiny ghecko on the first night, then there was nothing. There are baboons wondering around, and they will try to go into the tents if you... More

We stayed at the Ilkeliani for two nights as part of a ten day safari and we have to say they could not have done more to make our stay feel special, from flowers on arrival to a candlelit dinner under the stars, the staff went well out of their way. Our tent was spacious and cosy with a full... More

This was our first trip to the Maasai Mara, and Ilkeliani was a wonderful spot to stay. The tented camps were very luxurious with beautiful wood furniture, tiled updated bathrooms and very comfortable beds. The staff was superb, helpful and attentive. The food was excellent. Our son loved every minute of it and the Maasai staff were so attentive and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in a riverine forest in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, the area is a favourite for elephants coming to drink from the Talek River. Ilkeliani camp consists of only 17 tents, each commanding views of the plains and the wildlife action throughout the day. The tented rooms are raised up slightly on earth mounds, overlooking the river and the plains. These mounds are covered in vegetation, and feel quite natural, and each one has been sited under its own cluster of shady indigenous trees and you do feel like you are out in the wilderness. ... more   less
