If you looking for a few relaxing days on Lamu, Banana house it is. Excellent and helpful staff, free airport pick up and drop off. This old Swahili style house is located few minutes walk from the beach and some 30 minutes walk (by the ocean) from Lamu village. Food was really delicious!

This isn't 5 star luxury but it's most definitely that tropical, get away from it all, understated spoiling that I needed... comfortable rooms, charming pool and communal areas, staff on hand for anything, almost anytime and then chill out yoga so you start day the right way and feel you earn the lazing around and gin and tonic fueled day...

Indeed we are not the 5 star luxury, which we don't want to be as well. We like to give our guests an experience of connecting with the environment and...

We spend 4 days at Banana house. (Already missing it) It was the best holiday we've had so far. The hosts treats you like one of the family and always willing to accommodate you. I look forward to visiting banana house again to get away from the hustle of the city. Thank you Monika and crew.

I had the most incredible six nights as a solo traveller at Banana house. Whilst various governments advise against travel to Lamu island it is the most magical and peaceful place and I highly recommend a visit. Banana house has a lovely location in Shela, which I would certainly recommend staying in over lama town which feels relatively 'hectic'. The...

I have been deployed to Kenya and have heard of Lamu Islands but never managed to make it there. When I finally did make it there, it was an absolute delight. It was like being transported to a fairy land. The hosts, the people, the area, the food...everything was as authentic, exotic, and unique as it can be. The Kenyans...

A click on a name in a dropdown list of Kenyan coastal fly-in destinations brought us to a magical system of islands and specifically Lamu. We had booked 3 nights in the Wellness Penthouse @ Banana House. Having been transported into a different world, landing on Manda Island, we were struck by the surreal beauty of the Swahili Lamu old...

We stayed for several nights at Banana House and couldn't have enjoyed it more! The house is run by wonderful and hospitable Monika. The penthouse room was beautiful with sweeping views over Shela and the sea. Food was delicious and very fresh. We did a few excursions, all of which were nice, in particular a trip to see turtle hatching....

There are many cheap lodging choices in Shela Beach but none of them can compare to Banana House. Banana House is an experience not just a place to sleep. The staff is amazing!!!Saadi made sure we had the best transport, guides (ask for Hamza if you really want to explore old Lamu Town) and sailing trips. All were just awesome!...
