I absolutely loved my stay at Banana House where I stayed for 4 nights with my friend this March!! Warm, friendly, always helpful and professional staff, fresh, tasty healthy and locally produced food, inviting little swimming pool in a cosy garden and plenty of places to launch and hang out... If you like yoga, you will also love their open-style studio at their own wellness center. I am very much looking to return next year!!!

Lamu is the kind of warm feeling that gets into your soul...hits you hard...and doesn't go away! And that feeling was born at Banana House from the moment we walked out of the sand into the front door and were greeted by lovely Nimu and team. The Penthouse Suite was our very own family paradise for 3 nights complete with candlelit dinners, delicious fresh breakfasts of fruit and homemade bread and days spent swinging on the day beds or languishing on colorful cushions. After morning sightseeing we returned to the comfort of the crystal green swimming pool and had grilled calamari, salads and rice! Love everything about this gem from the location to the amazing staff to the truly delicious food. Highly recommend!

Friendly staff especially the ckeaners Really enjoyed the yoga I stayed at the back house as it was a single room. First I felt disappointed as it wasnt part of the main building. Bit then I enjoyed it more as it was more private and lots of space. Good breakfast. Great coffee

Banana house was everything I expected and so much more. The second you arrive on the island all stress flies away. The staff will carry your luggage up to the hotel, they will show you to your room and welcome you with a refreshing juice. While settling in, Monika, the owner, comes to personally welcome you. She was very informative on the trips you could book, the wellness centre and yoga facility, and the beautiful Lamu culture. She gave gentle tips on how to behave with respect towards the locals, something I find very important, so I really appreciated Monika took the time to explain this. You will most likely encounter Banana, Monika’s partner and owner of Banana House, as well. If you do, you must ask him to tell you a story about the island, he is an incredible story teller and true entertainer. During our stay, we felt very much at home, because the atmosphere is very laid back. The staff are all incredibly kind!! Like I’ve never seen before. We stayed in Banana Wellness, were Haro was responsible for our level at the time. Every morning he would bring our breakfast with a smile, and have a little chat with us. The food at Banana House is also the best I’ve experienced on the island. Their tuna carpaccio is amazing! As are their curries. I would highly recommend staying at Banana House!
