Visits to Lamu are special, for me and surely for everyone who sets food on the archipelago. This ancient Kenyan port town remained, by and large, as it was decades ago and gives an insight what life was like in those days when trade was done by dhow and Lamu was renowned for its dhow building craftsmen. Trips by road...

Wonderful hotel right by the beach. The staff were very friendly and courteous right from when we were picked at the airport to the very facilitation of our check in. We were welcomed with madafu (coconut water) and some nice face & hand cold towels (due to the heat). We were upgraded to their Suite room and they even gave...

Lamu was the last bit of the itinerary in Kenya. After hectic travelling from one national park to the other, the time in Lamu was something that was needed so very badly before returning home to India. Lamu is quaint, easy, green, quite and so very relaxing. Kijani Hotel in Lamu is perfectly in synch with each one of those...

Tucked away on the more idyllic side of Shela beach, this place evokes an idyllic sense of wonder and tranquility all in its own right. Tastefully furnished rooms with wide open verandas facing the sea, the entire location is bathed in a certain timelessness that is uniquely characteristic of the charm and history of the Lamu archipelago The considerate and...

Incredibly surreal. What an experience. When in Kenya, Kijani Hotel at Luma Island is A MUST VISIT. As your boat pulls up to the hotel shores, you automatically feel embraced by the island's historical richness, especially when the owner of the hotel is the one to greet you and welcome you into the hotel. First glance of the rooms leaves...

It's a sad day, as we're about to leave this delightful oasis, having enjoyed a blissful few days here, pampered by the gentle attentions of the wonderful staff. Three lovingly rehabilitated old houses have been turned into a gorgeous traditional Lamu setting, filled with palms and bougainvillia and other lush greenery. B&B is standard, but you can order other meals...

Kijani hotel gave me the full experience, the rooms are beautifully designed with a ocean front view and the atmosphere was exceptionally peaceful. There were various activities available for reasonable prices. My personal favorite activity was sunset sailing, the sunsets and sunrises in Shella are mesmerizing with so many vibrant colors. Overall I think Kijani Hotel is an excellent choice.

We found Kijani an excellent price-value choice in Shela, a small picturesque village 3 km from Lamu Town. It is located at the water front; with all the rooms facing the ocean the light night breeze makes the nights bearable in the equatorial heat. Authentic Swahili design and furniture add to the charm. The famous Shela beach is 300m or...
