Wonderful, amazing place to visit. The hotel is amazing, and the food is just out of this world. We spent New Year 2019-2020 at Kijani, and it was amazing. The staff take care of your every need, and the Manager who runs this place does a fantastic job of running the place. The chilli crab is fantastic, and I recommend getting somasas for an evening snack. The swahalli breakfast is also awesome, and can be a full days meal. There is a resident dog Mr. Nice, who is a wonderful loveable fellow, and a resident turtle that resides at Kijani. The rooms are spacious, and wonderul in December, when Lamu Island tends to be windy. We also did snorkeling on one of the days during our visit, which was a wonderful experience, and the water in the bay was very clean. All in all a wonderful memorable visit. Thanks Kijani! :)

Kijani is my idea of heaven. Small but perfectly formed, this hotel is exactly as per the pictures. Large airy rooms with fans in lovely, traditional Swahili-style. Shady balconies and terraces. The ocean just over the wall, with boats plying their trade between Lamu Town and Shela village. Tropical, shady gardens filled with magnificent trees and shrubs. Honestly, what's not to like? And the food was delicious. In the end, we ate here every night of our stay - there was always something tasty to tempt us so why go further? Staff were friendly and attentive and made our stay extra-special. Can't wait to return.

Kijani is an absolute gem! We (wife and I) stayed 3 nights and would have loved to stay longer. Real boutique feel. Beautiful Swahili architecture and decor. Stunning rooms; our suite had its own living area, balcony overlooking the sea, and beautiful bathroom. An oasis of peace and tranquility. Lots of peace and privacy, and many cool and breezy places to relax and read around the 2 pools, balconies and courtyards. Perfect location right on the beach just steps from other bars, restaurants and shops in Shela. The restaurant and food are divine! Seafood platter was spectacular. And the Japanese, Tahitian and other twists on seafood dishes are perfectly done and make every meal an adventure. Good and affordable wine list. And leaving the best for last... just excellent staff. Vincent the manager was very personable and informative. And all the restaurant, grounds and room staff were very friendly and helpful, giving the place a real family-run feel. Given the quality of Kijani, we found it to be excellent value for money. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend to anyone looking for real quality accommodation, food and service in Lamu!
