Hob House is a family-run guest House with the guest(s) as our number one priority. The proprietors - Peter and Kelly have travelled extensively for work and one of the things they missed was arriving at night to the comfort of a homely room with staff who made us feel less alone on our travels. We have created a social space 6 living rooms for all our guest(s), plus a beautiful garden where social interaction can happen, and if needed the peace and serenity of a relaxing quiet space can also be achieved. We have massages and Mani/Pedi ordered in advance. We also have an extensive vegetarian and vegan menu but cater for people who like meat also, our restaurant is one of the only Organic Traditional Lebanese restaurants serving Manoushe with Shakshouka and delicious home made mountain food from the various regions of Lebanon.. We have warm and friendly Kenyan staff who are trained to meet all your needs. Welcome - Karibu Sana!

I patronized the Hob house for lunch with friends in January, 2020.It was my first time there and I am happy to state that they exceeded my expectations. The cuisine is traditional Lebanese served in filling portions, family style dining and it was very tasty and flavorful. The ambience was cozy, quaint, charming and intimate with local art displayed on their walls, for sale. My only request for an ammend is to the Chef on the Umm Ali dessert, the flavors were yummy and it was delicious I enjoyed it.Only make it less runny, make it more moist (like the moistness of a well baked bread & butter pudding). I enjoyed my lunch experience and will definitely be back.A must try if you haven't yet been. Many Thanks, Roselyne

Hob House was the first stop on a 3-week trip to Kenya and Tanzania. It is a charming period-style house converted to a guesthouse, in a green and hilly area of Nairobi. On the lower floor and in the garden the proprietors have also created a popular and highly-regarded Lebanese restaurant. It's available to guests and is also patronised by locals and other visitors to the city. The food was fresh and enjoyable. Accommodation-wise, we had the suite, which was most tastefully furnished and decorated. The bed was large, with good quality linen - great for jet-lagged travellers. There was a small balcony giving a view over the garden. The communal areas are also presented tastefully - with a fused Middle-East/African aesthetic; they open on to the pretty rear garden, scattered with lights and outdoor eating areas. However, the restaurant can be a bit noisy if you're in your room trying to relax or sleep. The staff were friendly and generally good - occasionally uneven service. But Kelly - half of the proprietor couple and the mastermind behind the Lebanese cuisine - puts emphasis on service quality, she's committed to staff development. The property is well secured, with a high fence and an attended driveway. It is a 20-30 minute drive from downtown (not necessarily a bad thing) and 20 minutes from Karen, location of most of Nairobi's tourist attractions. Little of interest is walking distance. Therefore you have to use taxis/cars; there is no easily-accessible public transport. Hob House arranged a good airport transfer for us; it can also arrange for reliable taxis to get around Nairobi. They also recommend contacts for safaris and activities outside Nairobi. We enjoyed some long chats with Kelly, who's had a fascinating life and has many stories to tell. A real raconteur. This was a memorable start to our Africa trip.

I had lunch here, this was my second time. The location is in an upmarket residential area of Nairobi, the ambience is very good- a cosy place in a nice garden setting. Service was good, the food was fresh, well-presented, a lot of Lebanese. Unfortunately, Kelly, the owner needs to realise that guests have come for a private meal, and while she may pass by in a friendly manner, it is NOT required that she stops by, then takes over the conversation for most of the time, and simply does not shift! This was my experience BOTH times I went there, which is why I have not bothered again.

Green, gorgeous and all things cosy - this BNB will make you want to come back to Nairobi the minute you step in. HobHouse is a beautifully designed BNB, run by the loveliest Kelly! The staff is super helpful and always smiling, the menu & food is incredible and the rooms are spacious and well designed. They have a very green backyard and dining space. Every corner of the house has been designed and thought of to the last detail. Kelly has curated gorgeous pieces of art all through her life and used them all around the house, restaurant and rooms SO beautifully. We had plans of going into the city to explore a few places and restaurants but cancelled everything to spend more time at Hob House and make the most of our one night there. The entire experience comes together because of how nicely the entire house is designed, how fresh and tasty their food is and how Kelly and her team make you feel at home, as though you're a part of their happy happy family! Thank you to the entire team and to the loveliest Kelly! We will be back very soon! ♥️♥️♥️

For those who don't have time to read the long review (which in itself should speak volumes) - This is Nairobi's best kept secret, do yourself a favor and don't miss out! I dined here 8 times in the 2 months I lived in Nairobi. Right from the time I stepped into the gastronomical wonderland, I knew there was something special about the place. My experience began with a warm welcome from Kelly, the owner, who enthusiastically seated us at our table and helped us with the extensive menu that included Lebanese classics, loads of vegan/vegetarian options and delicious spinoffs! As someone whose favourite cuisine is Lebanese - I can confidently say the best Lebanese culinary experience I've had has been in Africa! (And, I've eaten many a times in the middle east). This is not only because of quality of the food - a lot of which is grown and flown in from Lebanon according to Kelly - but also because of the curated music, the quirky furniture and the quaint African pictures, paintings and quotes lining the walls. However, what defined my experiences were people I met here - the ever-smiling and hospitable wait staff (I've had Rose every time, and she is just awesome!), the most interesting, diverse solo travellers on the community table (Yogi from Australia, AIDs researcher from the UK and Political Scientist from the USA) who are now friends for life, and last but definitely not the least the owners Peter and Kelly. Peter and Kelly truly set the bar for hospitality and truly care about their diners. They are definitely one of the most interesting couples you'll meet Peter is passionate about the environment and running while Kelly is a global citizen and gifted foodie. Together they are the most fascinating, loving and positive people I have met who made Hob House a home away from home and ensured I always left entertained, happier, and satiated.
