House of Waine is a family owned and run property and this is reflected in the name Waine which is made up of the initials of the family members. Originally a family house, it was lovingly converted to a boutique hotel and eventually opened in 2004. The interior design takes its cue from the Matriarch of the family and is imbued with a timeless elegance much like her.

We arrived from the US after long flights. We were met with champagne and very delightful staff members. This was not a surprise because we had read GREAT reviews of this hotel. We were taken to the Malaika Suite - the BIG Room - and it was magnificent. Sitting out on the back veranda of our suite, we had drinks and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Dinner was served in the dining room and it was terrific. The beef fillet and seared skirt steak were perfect (rare). We enjoyed the beautiful gardens all around the hotel. This is a very nice place to unwind. My only advice: large tips are expected

Can't really provide a fully comprehensive review since we were really only here for less than twelve hours. I will say, the rooms are very, very nice. We had three rooms for our family and each was decorated differently. They were luxurious and spacious. They had a nice selection of TV channels. The sleep comfort was high. Loved our bathroom too. Nice rain shower, large tub and double sinks. Lots of plugs available for charging. The dinner was where they lost some points. The bar had difficulty getting some simple drink orders correct. I also found the menu quite limiting. At breakfast, the eggs were not cooked properly.

We arrived at House of Waine after more than 24 hours in transit. We were tired. We were met by gracious staff members who provided hot towels and cold drinks. The check-in process was simple and fast, and we were in our room relaxing very shortly. We had delicious room service and went to bed. We listened to the sounds of Africa waking up from our balcony. The full English breakfast was delightful and delicious. We did not stay at this place for long, but we wish we could have stayed longer. The decor was charming, and more importantly, the staff was most helpful.

This hotel surprised us very much. First of all I want to say thank you to all stuff, who were extremely careful and helped us a lot. What was very nice is the food. It was just above expectations. So fresh and good. The best snapper in the world !We had just one day, because we have to continue our journey, but we would definitely recommend the hotel. Clean. Comfort. Nice. The view from the room was great.

We stayed here for 1 night in July 2019 as we were touring Nairobi, very close to the Giraffe Centre & Elephant Sanctuary and the hotel is based in a very lovely area (Karen) the staff are very accommodating and do go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. They arranged an early morning breakfast to our room before we headed for a long drive to the Maasai Mara and made sure it was there for 6:30am, the manager said he likes the guests to 'feel at home' which I thought was a really nice statement and they certainly made us feel that way. I couldn't fault the service of the staff! The rooms were big and quaint 'old fashioned style' the hotel is overpriced in comparison to where I have stayed previously for the same price. Overall I would recommend though.
