Our first 2 nights in Kenya were spend at Karen Blixen Cottages. What a way to start our Safari. The staff was very nice and the cottage was very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast by the pool was very nice and ready to made omlets were a nice touch. The bathroom was quite large . We had a very nice... More

This is what colonial Africa was like back in the days. Everything about this place is period. Nice little cottages surrounded by exceptional garden setting. A perfect place to have a very tasteful lunch. My room was bright and clean. The room safe was broken. Getting the water temperature right was a challenge in the shower. Service was inconsistent (some... More

This was a very pleasant stay to end our safari. Food was not outstanding, but staff helpful, grounds very nice, and rooms spare and elegant. Very nice bathroom, hot water, pressure, all fine. A nice gift shop with no pressure, but staff willing to say "that's from Nigeria" or "this isn't from Kenya" when it's not:) Evening had live local... More

We loved spending a couple of nights here BUT our room was cold, why have a fireplace if they don't light the fire for you, or even lay it. At 1900 metres, evenings are chilly which is why they gave us a lovely small chiminiere next to our table at dinner in recognition of the temperature, but nothing in our... More

This was our final day in Kenya before catching the flight home. We had an excellent lunch during which the service was excellent. Everyone was most welcoming and friendly. Following lunch we were invited to wander through the gardens. We took the advantage of visiting the two well stocked gift shops to buy a few final presents, the girls were... More

For $500 a night surely one would expect something...anything..to write home about? This place is over priced, tired, worn out, patchy, and at best adequate. There is nothing inviting or romantic about this space we are sitting in. Not even the bed looks inviting....unless you have been sleeping in a sleeping bag on a ground sheet en route. Karen Blixen... More

This was an unexpected pleasure and escape from Nairobi. We stayed here over night on route to the airport. The tranquil and stylish setting is beautiful. The rooms were superb, I only wish we had longer to stay, hopefully next time.

After a morning of sightseeing and bumping around this area of Nairobi, this was the perfect lunch spot. We ate outside in the delightful afternoon sun, the food and service were both great, lots of options, even for the vegetarian (me). This is located not far from the Elephant orphanage and of course the museum, so an easy way to... More

When we got to Kenya, we were looking for a place where it is comfortable for our 10 month old baby too, where he can play around and no need to be in one room only. we got to Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens and it was the answer. The cottages are spacious clean and exactly what we where looking for.... More

For those arriving at Jomo Kenyatta airport in Nairobi, it can be very stressful to make the drive into Nairobi for your first night's stay in Kenya. I'd recommend travelers consider instead to make a detour to peaceful Karen. We did just that and stayed at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages. We arrived around 11 PM, exhausted from...
