We came here as part of our safari package. The restaurant and grounds are quite beautiful and you can buy local paintings if you're so inclined. The food was delightful! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Fish dish was great and the breads to start were incredibly fresh. The staff are very attentive and good at what they do.... More

Having stayed at a number of different hotels in Nairobi over the last 30 years, this is most definitely our favourite so far. Situated in the quiet suburb of Karen, the lodge is set in large grounds with flowering trees and bushes and plenty of colourful birds. Rooms are in individual cottages dotted around the grounds, and are spacious, clean,... More

Go for the scenery. I found the tour quite scripted and is informative but can be skipped. Lovely view of Ngong hills. Great location for a picnic. Get there by matatu from the city center, I found that cheaper and quite convenient too.

These cottages are perfectly situated for a tip to Karen Blixen Museum and there is a good restaurant on the grounds but very expensive! Unless you are a huge Out OF Africa fan - as I am - best to pick a more reasonable place. The rooms are big and spacious, but cold, There is a fireplace but our fire... More

Stayed for 2 nights after Masai Mara safari. The "hotel" is a number of large, spacious bungalows set in extensive grounds, with a small central swimming pool adjacent to the breakfast room. The rooms are large, each with comfortable beds, a large shower/bathroom and sitting room, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there is... More

Unfortunately our hotel of choice was booked in Karen so we had to settle for Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens. The old lady would turn in her grave is she experienced the complete lack of focus and attention the current hotel displays. The setting is nice - old fashioned bungalows with large rooms and spacious areas. Add in a nice garden... More

Had dinner at the restaurant before going to the Masai Mara. Even though set in a suburb on Nairobi which can take a while to reach because of the traffic, you feel like you stepped back in time. There is an extensive cocktail list and the staff are knowledgeable about the food and wine on offer. The appetizers are quite... More

Only stayed for a few days on s business trip. What a great location! Spacious bungalows, great beds and a beautiful green environment. Not to mention the history of the place. Very relaxing way to start a trip. Staff were very helpful. Hope to be visiting again some day.

Recently in Karen on business and our usual guest house was booked so the office put us here. What a lovely surprise. Beautiful gardens and charming rustic cottages. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple but good, the coffee of course was excellent. The restaurant had excellent food whether dining in the formal restaurant or outside which has... More

It's not so impressive. The sights are good, yes, and there's a nice pussycat who keeps the evil people away, but an sich the coffee gardens of Karen Blixen are more exciting in your head's imagination than at the place itself, which is quite boring, next to the multiple trees and the wonderful views.
