Set in the up-market suburb of Karen, Macushla House is about 40 minutes from the international airport (with no traffic) and closer to the Wilson airport. As noted it's close to a lot of local sightseeing spots including the Kazuri Bead Centre (well worth the visit) and you can spend a relaxing day taking in the sights. It's very nicely...

My husband an I stayed at Machshla House for two nights upon arrival in Kenya on Qctober 2nd, 2014. We did not arrive until 11 pm and were just looking forward to a light snack before bed. However, we were encouraged to have a full dinner as it wold be “no trouble.” We were treated to a delicious soup, fresh...

Even though my wife and I were in Macushla House three (3) years ago, our memories of Macushla is still evergreen. It was our honeymoon and we had been in Mombasa and Seychelles. We planned to spend the last two days in Nairobi before heading back home (Lagos, Nigeria). We chose Macushla because of the comments on TripAdvisor. Everyone seemed...

We had a delightful stay in room 6 which has its own courtyard. Room was well appointed and charming. We loved all the birds and monkeys playing. Staff was super- very nice, welcoming and friendly. Only problem: no hot water and very low water pressure. We pointed it out to staff who seemed mystified. Never got fixed and no explanation...

Have just returned to Australia from Nairobi and wanted to review Macushla whilst the whole experience was fresh in my mind. I book all my travel independently of agents and dealing with this guesthouse found all correspondence was timely, courteous and nothing was a problem. Booked airport transfer thru Macushla at a very reasonable rate and then used Peter for...

Stayed at Macushla House for four nights during August 2014. It's the ideal place to recover from a long flight, or to recharge your batteries after safaris. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable beds and good bathrooms. The staff are friendly, kind and professional, food very good, with a wide choice each day, and excellent coffee and cakes! The surrounding...

I had heard about this place from many a person. Therefore I gave it a try. And got disappointed. Big time disappointment. I mean it is just an old colonial house turned into a bland guest house and overpriced (emphasise on overpriced) drinks. You wanna know how expensive? I will let you in on that secret - $1.5 for a...

I only stayed one night here, but I loved it. Great location in Karen suburb of Nairobi close to loads of must-see attractions. Room was clean and most comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. I arrived rather late at night, but staff was very attentive and accommodating and made me feel right at home. I was asked if I was hungry,...

I've stayed at Macushla twice now and loved it both times. It is a reasonably priced, characterful peaceful haven away from the city of Nairobi in the suburb of Karen ("Out of Africa" fame) and within minutes of the Giraffe Sanctuary, Sheldrick elephant orphanage, Karen Blixens' house and Kzuri beads. Not far from Wilsons airport if you are going on...

Macushla House was the two day preparation site for our safari with a family of ten. Excellent location away from the bustle of downtown, it is located in the western suburb of Karen near all of the "want to see" activities including David Sheldrick elephant orphanage, Giraffe Center, curio shopping and Karen Blixen House (Out of Africa author). The accommodations...
