I stayed here 3 nights for a big workshop, and enjoyed the stay. The hotel (well outside Nairobi city center) is enormous and spread out over large lush grounds, with lots of greenery, different buildings containing rooms, several restaurants, a casino, reception, bars, etc. As we were in all-day meetings we did not leave the hotel grounds, so I appreciated that the grounds were so lush and big, with lovely pools and walking paths (looking more like a resort than a conference hotel). I did get lost continually, despite having a map, but that was an excuse to get in more walking each day. The hotel has a gym, though I did not try it. A highlight was the walking/running trail all the way around the property (about 2km), which was very nice for jogging in the early evening. Breakfast and restaurant meals were fine, with one nice dinner spent at a table next to a large pool on the garden terrace. My room was large and well appointed, with a mini fridge, tea/coffee maker, couch, large bed with mosquito net, good-size bathroom with plenty of hot water, and a lovely large balcony overlooking the gardens (which I sadly didn't have time to enjoy). Wifi usually worked quite well, though was very limited in the conference rooms (probably due to the large number of people on line at once). The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would stay there again, and hope to have more time to enjoy the grounds and pools next time.

Stayed 8 nights for meetings. The Guest Relations team at the entrance are phenomenal. The porter Paul Mwaka went out of his way to accommodate my special requests, was very attentive to the point of taking notes to make sure he got things right. Daniel too was very kind and supportive and whatever may not have gone quite right was somehow made better by this team. The laundry team also took care of my clothes with special needs. Restaurant chefs at the meat feast restaurant are also very friendly and make you feel at home. I would return thanks to this team's positive energy and warmth.

Will start with a positive review, the ambience is to die. However, the food was horrible!
We ordered sirloin steak, pork chops and fried chicken from cafe kigwa, the meats were not tasty at all, poorly marinated, incredibly tough and the portions were just plain mean. Good gesture they replaced our meats when we complained but there wasn’t much improvement in the quality. The waiters were okay and helpful. Access to the restaurant could be made better for wheel chair clients
. Ramps are very few and the ones available takes a longer route. We had a baby stroller and struggled with access into the restaurant. The management has also not responded to our complaint several weeks later

I'm always loath to leave particularly negative reviews but my advice is do not stay at this hotel. The hotel is very dated and is not value for money.

The hotel has great facilities (swimming pool, bath tub, gym etc) but it is very dated. Most of the facilities could do with being refreshed.

The same can be said of the room we stayed on. The room is spacious and nice but we had issues such as faulty plugs, faulty taps and faulty appliances. Unusually the hotel had queen sized beds as opposed to single beds which was welcome.

We decided to eat on site and chose the Italian restaurant La Piazetta. We arrived at 7 o clock and didn't leave until 9:30 despite only order soup, salad and two pizzas. One of the pizzas was not cooked properly and despite this being raised with the staff and sent back to the kitchen a replacement was also brought that was also uncooked. In fairness to the waiter Joseph he was extremely apologetic and was doing his utmost to try and resolve the situation. The food was subsequently removed from our bill by reception.

I do not think that warrants the star rating it has and I also do not believe that it is value for money. The hotel is dated and ultimately there was a number of issues. It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the efforts by the waiter Joseph and the manager in trying to resolve the issues I had so I have given the hotel 2 stars.

This is a lovely rustic safari-style hotel set in a large parkland garden in Nairobi. The majority of the rooms face towards the expansive lawn, only one story above ground. It holds many rooms, and has approximately 5 restaurants, all offering different food, which is a real treat. A lovely buffet breakfast each morning - with a variety of croissants, muffins, cheeses, etc, as well as Yoghurt, fruit and the more traditional eggs and bacon 'English breakfast'. An endless supply of coffee and Kenyan tea!

The rooms can be quite far from the central restaurants and swimming pool area, which immobile people would need to bear in mind when booking. But for those enjoying the good food on offer the walk is good! The only other negative was the fact that they were Habib problems with the geysers sorting out set of rooms when we stayed, so the shower/ bath water was a little chilly!

Other than that I would recommend this place

Thank you for the great review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the lush surroundings and diverse breakfast menu. It’s wonderful to know that our diverse culinary offerings, particularly the breakfast buffet, delighted your palate. We also appreciate your insightful feedback regarding the distance of the accommodations rooms from the central dining and pool areas; this is to enhance privacy and a balance bearing in mind that we are set in 40 acres of land. Your feedback about the geyser issue is invaluable, and we are actively addressing it to enhance future experiences. We definitely look forward to welcoming you back for another wonderful stay!

This was meant to be a festive (gala)dinner for the group and in preparation for it our food limitations/preferences had been asked for and collected. When we sat down for the dinner, it turned out that the information that had been transmitted to the restaurant had either been ignored or not passed down to the f crew that was in charge of the restaurant. It is a good thing that the group was really in high spirits as the restaurant and its service staff did not seem to have a clue, also freely over-charging for drinks that were meant to be included. My advice is to find another spot in this amazing town for your dinner.

Superbly appointed and with beautiful hotel gardens and my brother and his guests stay there several times a year. We had a delicious Teppanyaki dinner in the Japanese Restaurant.

But sad inattention to detail - how can an up market bar not stock even one premium grade Gin? And still display a floor sign saying "Caution - work in Progress" for work completed more than half a day ago!!

Dear Vivien, Thank you for visiting us. We thank you for the continued business support. We apologize for the lack of premium gin, however our bar manager assured us that that will not happen again. He intends to ensure the bar stocks are always updated. We have also been renovating the hotel and the roof was being repaired hence the signage being there for 2 days. However, we are glad you enjoyed the gardens and look forward to hosting you again.

Currently attending a few days of meetings at the hotel. I haven't visited for many years and was surprised by state of the hotel.

The hotel sits on a big property, several of the others guests commented the space is great for morning walks. Grounds are not well tendered.

It's an old hotel that has not benefitted from updates. The meeting rooms while large are musty and got very hot. The room had an old noisy air conditioning unit.

The lunch buffet was horrible. The food was lukewarm, and the taste so bland. The chicken consume soup was salted water, the buns that accompanied the soup were cold and hard, almost old. Cafe kigwa the restaurant has old carpeting and is rather dark.

The tea time set was OK. The mandazi however were very tasty.

The pool had near green water with soil residue settled on the pool floor and dirt everywhere on the sides. Not appealing at all.
I Would not recommend the hotel.

This hotel looked beautiful and was well-manicured. It appears to be designed for work conferences, weddings, or group takeovers. All the amenities (gym and food) were charged separately which was a huge disappointment to our family. But our room was very pretty with a balcony. The best part of our 5-day stay was the rock slide into the pool and the staff members!

not sure, as never needed one , but the reception will either change for you or point you in the right direction. We carried US dollars in small denomination notes all through the trip and they were accepted almost everywhere...your change is usually in Kenyan shillings.

Hi Fistclass, Hope u already found a suitable answer. For what it is worth, I am just adding few notes for other maybe who would have the same question. The best and affordable way to get into the city center is by using Uber (taxi services, especially the Uber Chap-Chap). This is cheap (between $2.5 to max 5) per trip depending on the time of travel (whether rush hour or not). The hotel arranged taxis are also secure and always available, the only downside is the amount you will pay is often hiked.
