5 of us visited The Fairview for 4 nights. This is an excellent location in the city with beautiful gardens, pool with excellent staff services. Lovely fresh fruit served at breakfast and full buffet available. Poolside bar and meals were great along with the staff, who couldnt do enough for us. John, Kevin Boniface the poolside team were great. Hannah in the breakfast room and Florence as receptionist were excellent. All rooms were spacious, clean and lovely big bathrooms. Top quality Hotel and thoroughly recommended.

Fairview's location in the heart of the Upperhill area is convenient for business meetings, but the hotel complex takes you away from the bustle of the city. It's 4 restaurants provide variety without the hassle of going out for evening meals after a long day and the staff are very attentive.

My friend and I went for lunch. We sat at their beautiful garden. The waitress brought the menu but each item we asked for from their own menu was unavailable. Upto and incl pineapple juice!! This was annoying. Finally we settled on available meals that were on the menu. The food was so so bland. No taste at all. The supv had the audacity to come and tell us that the suppliers had not delivered some particular items of food and that the food we had been eating may not have been prepared well. We were offered another meal, "well prepared", :-( but the experience had already been marred. We ate to finish not to enjoy the meal. Beautiful garden, good service but horrible menu and no supplies. The management is putting their own staff in a very precarious situation with guests. It was my first time there and won't be going back at all. Never!!

We are regular visitors to Kenya with a place near Nanyuki. Whenever we come with friends for a visit, we stay for the first couple of nights at The Fairview in order to help them get over the time change a bit and to see some of the usual sights in the city. As always this time the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The service is genuinely sincere and friendly and positive. Our guests were just delighted, and they are all experienced travellers. This trip the GM, Stefan, suggested we have a private dinner in the hotel’s wine cellar. (We were a group of 9.) At first we were a bit skeptical but a quick tour and a meeting with the Chef convinced us to give it a try. And what a great decision this was! The arrangement is “family style” dining, meaning the staff bring in, with appropriate fanfare and flair, each of the courses one after another and set the dishes on the table. They offer two three course menus, each with two entrees as part of the main course. The food was excellent and plentiful. At no time did we feel rushed by the staff. The ambience was charming, with lots of candles and lanterns. The entire evening was first rate and lots of fun. And, quite frankly, it was very reasonably priced. I recommend you investigate this as an option if you are staying at the hotel or if you are a resident of the Nairobi and are looking for an interesting dining experience with the family or a small group of friends. 10 out of 10!

Still a wonderful, smaller sized place to stay. My favourite hotel, certainly in Africa if not globally. Old world charm and green oasis captures you. Not to mention many of the staff have been here for years and are brilliant. Unfortunately the skyline is changing with high rise office blocks appearing. Prices have gone up but the tusker is still cold.
