On the recommendation of a personal friend I chose the Emakoko as an overnight destination to give myself and my five year old son our first taste of African wildlife. With only a limited window available in our busy schedule spent mainly in the Nairobi slums working on my football foundation projects, We were looking for somewhere within easy reach...

We stayed at the Emakoko for the first overnight of our two week safari, having flown in early morning. We were met at the airport by Elisaban, one of the guides who was delightful and extremely knowledgeable. We had a lovely game drive through the park, arriving for lunch which was delicious. After a couple of hours rest we were...

As you cross the bridge from the parking area over to the lodge, you're crossing into an oasis. This is a gorgeous spot right in Nairobi National Park in the middle of Nairobi! But it has all the benefits of being out in the bush on safari (except elephants). The "rooms" are really each individual houses which are wonderfully decorated....

I heard about the Emakoko from a colleague who couldn't help but rant and rave about the place. Turns out they were right, I haven't shut up about it since my stay. The Emakoko truly is a wonderful find. Emma and Anthony have clearly used all their experience to create a lodge that, to me, is one of a kind...

We had the pleasure of staying here one night before we left for our safari in Tanzania. I was surprised how close we were to the airport but it felt like a different world. For those who did not, or do not, want to schlep into the City from either Nairobi Int'l (Njomo Kenyatta) or Wilson Airport - like us - as we flew into Wilson, but did not fly (ex-Nairobi) on the next stage of our Itinerary, until the next morning - this proved a brilliant find, a real surprise, and an absolute...

Thank you very much for your very detailed review!
