I chose this hotel for it's proximity to Wilson Airport, as a I had a morning flight. I arrived late at night and was pleasantly surprised by the room. The receptionist was polite and friendly, as was her colleague the following morning. My breakfast was delicious, the coffee plentiful and the avocado on toast was so fresh. Unfortunately, I did not have time to explore the mementos but the bar area evoked a bygone era. I would definitely stay here again when passing through Nairobi.

Conveniently located to local travel hub Wilson airport a stay at the Aeroclub still manages to invoke that amazing ‘Out of Africa’ feeling with old engine parts, propellers and photos scattered around the dark rustic timber structure of the main building. A fairly recent renovation and upgrade of the facilities have done wonders to the guest’s comfort. My big double bedroom was shielded from the noise of the busy road and aircraft taking off and landing by sound proof double glazing. The shower had good water pressure and was enjoyably hot and the mosquito netting was free of holes and already covering the bed when I arrived. I also quite like the fact that in a double bedroom the club provides two portions of creamer and coffee for the the potentially two people staying (amazingly that is not the case in every hotel). Checkin was very friendly and quick - admittedly I am a repeat customer (although not a member) which might have sped up proceedings - as was checking out and paying the bill. The restaurant serves hearty and enjoyable breakfast or just a beautiful frothy latte. Note that you pay for food at the restaurant and drinks at the bar and not via your hotel room bill.

I stay here occasionally as I pass through Nairobi Wilson. It's very convenient for catching an 8 am a flight out of Wilson Airport. The pilot-wing rooms are good quality with great showers and very clean. You will hear traffic noise from Langata road in the early morning - which is not a problem for me because of my early flight. Aero Club staff are really welcoming and friendly. The only option for food is the Java chain restaurant in the reception building. The food is average and variable and the service on my last visit was awful. We had to wait for menus, wait for our order to be taken, the food was not hot when it arrived and we waited for an age to order dessert and to pay. I'll continue to use the Aero Club as it's so convenient and avoids traffic jams in the morning and the staff are so welcoming.

The East African Aero Club is situated in a quiet part of Wilson Airport, with a spacious guarded car park. The Club is very welcoming to members and non-members alike. The Java House Restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices indoors, on the verandah and in the shaded garden beside the swimming pool. The staff are friendly and give attentive service. Their Kenya coffee is always good. Highly recommended for a relaxing lunch in an old-world getaway from bustling Nairobi or for a snack and drink after a flight.

Always reliable and now with magnificent accomodation as well. It's history, the proximity to the varied quality attractions not far away in Karen and Langata as well as the appeal of being located at the airfield where almost all of the fly-in safaris leave from make this a great option for a nights stay or else breakfast, lunch or dinner. The bar is a must as well for a cool long drink and to talk tales with some of the local aviators, also with some of the barmen having been with The Aeroclub for decades.

Having stayed here several times, it is clear to us that we will continue to do so. It could not be better to check in next to the next morning for a flight to the Mara. The service is good, the breakfast was wonderful, the staff very friendly and the rooms very clean (new bathroom) - what more could you ask for? We are thrilled, say THANK YOU and can always recommend the club.

Great place - room (a crew room) was on the basic side but more than comfortable and perfect for the night before my flight to the Mara. The bar was fantastic, with loads of flying memorabilia, and the restaurant (just a coffee chain) did a great light meal with fab service. Super-friendly, lots of offers of help with bags, and incredibly close (walking distance even with my massive bag!) to the Governors/Safarilink departure. Recommended by a travel agent (the fabulous Helle from Africa Travel Resource) who really knows Kenya/Nairobi, and it was the perfect functional but a bit different place to stay. Will definitely stay again if have a night before safari in future!

The place definitely had it's high time decades ago. While the ambience is quite charming, the club brought in Java Cafe as vendor running its restaurant. It servers the same greasy and not very appealing food it serves elsewhere in its numerous chain outlets all over Nairobi. Awful. A drink in the club might be OK but stay away from the food. Management of the whole place is terrible. Toilet dirty with soap stains from the last year on the wall. Tables, chairs and menus greasy, sticky. First and last time.

I recently had lunch at the Aero Club while transferring between Air Kenya and SAX airlines. It was suggested because it was right in the airline complex. What a great place to have lunch. I had the chicken quesadillas and they were really tasty. The portion was very large and more than I could eat. The service was good too and it's fun to sit and relax and watch the planes coming in.

This was my first visit to the Aero Club and I was a little concerned, because there are so few reviews. I had a Captains room, clean, large, quiet and with everything you would need for an overnight stay, including a tray with kettle, tea and coffee. The advantage of not having to face Nairobi traffic in the morning, before flying from Wilson, was wonderful. A much more relaxing start to my trip, an enjoyable breakfast and no worries about how long it would take to get to Wilson airport.
