This is the greatest place I've ever stayed. Ahmed took care of me right from the beginning since I arrived until I left. He met me at the bus station and led me to the camp, made me food day and night (I only ate here because his food was great) and always offered me help, whatever I needed. The... More

Great food, brilliant location if you want to be away from the main town. Ahmed is a really good guy and was straight up about everything. Bit run down, but where isn't after so long with no tourism, go and stay and really make a difference to a lovely family that deserve a break and get a very different experience... More

Against all the odds, I (a middle aged middle classed old English girl) LOVED this place! You see, it was so totally UNIQUE.. camping out in a bamboo style hut with birds perched right outside and the morning sun peeking through the cane windows. Just getting here was an adventure, crossing the Nile by ferry, and then strolling along the... More

We were very happy staying at Al Salam Camp with Ahmed this September. He was very helpful cooking for us and providing us with everything we needed. It's definitely a 'camp,' so don't expect anything much nicer than a tent. This means lots of bugs everywhere! There's a lovely common area with plenty of fans to keep you cool. An... More

Arrived after a long journey and Ahmed was welcoming, very good English and some interesting conversation! However when it came to organising a tour around Luxor, he wasn't completely upfront. Having enquired about getting a guide and a driver around the west and east bank by email, he went and booked without any confirmation from us and left us with... More

Ahmed and his family are excellent hosts at this peaceful camp on the west bank of the Nile overlooking Luxor. Ahmed speaks good English. Accommodation is primarily simple, clean huts around a shaded courtyard with fans. Camping is possible, but space is limited. The food is delicious home cooked fare, and Ahmed can provide alcohol. Excursions can be arranged either... More

This is a basic place but we really liked it. We camped so I cant comment on the rooms but there is space for people with rooftop tents. The owner gave us such a warm welcome and offers very good hospitality. There is a communal area, clean toilets and showers and they are happy to do simple but tasty meals.... More

We spent (only, unfortunately) two nights at Al Salam camp with Ahmed and his family but it certainly was one of our most fantastic experiences in all of Egypt. The place is extremely peaceful, located away from the noisy city center of Luxor on the west bank, very near to all of the sights around the valley of the kings.... More

Even though it was a nice place to stay, with good food and excellent common area, the owner was not honest when it came to his prices of his excursions...when it came to checkout and settle my bill, he used the excuse that he forgot to tell me that all prices were for two people...that he was to caught up... We were expecting to stay in a 4 bed dorm but on arrival were told by the owner Ahmed that he had torn them down so we stayed in two double bedded huts instead, which was for the same price. The camp itself was ideally situated on the west bank of The Nile, very peaceful and tranquil and just a... More
