Nestled in a prime location, the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence is often celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere with a cozy vibe, complemented by delectable cuisine and pleasant music. While many guests admire the luxurious and spacious accommodations with breathtaking views, some have expressed concerns about rooms being dated and not well soundproofed. The hotel's cleanliness and amenities receive high marks, although a few visitors have reported issues with upkeep. Service is generally lauded as attentive and professional, but not without occasional hiccups in efficiency. Despite the array of positive features, a number of travelers question the value for money, pointing to steep prices and unexpected fees.

Stayed for 3 nights here in Four Seasons First Residence towards the end of our Egypt sightseeing trip. Everyone was very polite and professional, including check in staff. We had complimentary fruit plate and a hand written greeting card, which was a nice touch. Room was quality standard, more of an vintage luxury decor, which we did enjoy. There was no noise, housekeeping was also good (although we had to ask for shower gel and dental kits on the first day). We did not have breakfast as it was 28 USD per person, which was slightly too expensive, as we wouldn't have such a big appetite in the morning. Good amenities with shopping mall, casino and various bars/restaurant.
There was only a slight incident. Myself and my partner wanted to use the swimming pool in the evening. We asked the manager in the front, he said we could use the swimming pool anytime, if we did not need a lifeguard. However when we got to the pool, we were challenged by staff there saying that the pool was closed. They did let us swim but we saw a supervisor storming out after conversing with his colleagues. They let us swim for about half an hour then asked us to go out, which we did.
We got the swimming that we wanted anyway so this incident was quickly forgotten.
One thing that was appreciated, that perhaps distinguished this hotel from a 3/4 star hotel, was on check out the guest experience manager (female, didn't catch the name) apologised to us for the trouble with the swimming pool (which we had already forgotten about at that point). She insisted on requesting a complimentary car service to the airport for us, and offered coffee/juices while we waited. Although the swimming pool incident was a minor fault of the hotel, the hospitality towards the end more than made up for this. Good experience overall.

From the exterior the hotel is essentially a 20 storey tower block, although not an unattractive one. Inside however is a lovely grand old hotel.

The rooms are large and well furnished. On one side they look towards the Pyramids at Giza, if you are above the 7th floor, although the pyramids are some distance away. On the other side, you overlook the Nile. Although the view directly in front is obscured by the First Residence villa tower, you can see both upstream and downstream to each side of the tower in front. If you are sensitive to noise, you might prefer the Nile side as some noise from the incessant hooting if horns does penetrate the double glazing on the pyramids side.

Although there is only one relatively small bar (on the 4th floor, with some quite eccentric canned music at times), you can also order alcohol in the Tea Lounge. This is also where breakfast and afternoon tea are served and it is a lovely large room that gives a pleasant sense of a bygone age.

All the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous.

We dined in the Asian restaurant on the boat that the Four Seasons has moored on the banks of the Nile about 200m from the hotel. The menu covers Indian, Chinese and Japanese cuisine, and you can mix and match as you wish; we had a nix of Indian and Chinese. The meal was perfectly good but nothing to write home about. As everywhere in Egypt, imported wines are hugely expensive. We had a local Egyptian wine (a Viognier/Vermentino blend) which was very acceptable and exceeded our expectations.

If you want an alternative, a restaurant called The Fish Market is on the next-but-one boat downriver. You choose your fish from a display counter and the chef cooks it however you wish. It’s completely unpretentious but the quality of the fish was excellent. (We had sea bass). They will bring an interesting selection of starters to the table to choose from. It’s not licensed.

Overall The Four Seasons is a lovely hotel with excellent staff.

Stayed 2 nights as part of tour. Unfortunately not in a non smoking room and rest of public area have tint of smoke.

Rooms on the 29th top floor have nice views of the river.

Restaurant Nairu is excellent with great variety of fusion dishes, but a bit heavy on the salt. It’s actually located a block away behind the hotel across the street. There is a person helping with crossing across a very busy street.

WiFi needs to be upgrade with extra 150 Egypt LB to have decent speed.

Breakfast in Tea Lounge has limited selection but more than acceptable.

The First Mall next door has limited options for shopping but the open restaurant is fair.

Located in busy part of town with not much worth walking around.

Recommended.

The wife and I were in Cairo with Ama Waterways seeing the sites and stayed at the Four Seasons (which is actually on the Nile but is technically in Giza). We loved the entire facility with the mall attached. The rooms are elegant and they and the bed is set back inside the room away from the hallway so you don't really hear the foot traffic walking by which was nice. The breakfast restaurant on the third floor was lovely and had quite a spread waiting for us every day.

Honestly, we spent most of our time at when we were at the hotel at the pool which had great service and the cigar bar called "First Bar" because we can buy CUBAN cigars on site. While we were at First Bar were pampered by the nicest server named Nadi who's service and attention to detail was above and beyond. We had some friends during our say so Nadi arranged for a nice dinner for us right there on the comfy lounge chairs. It was a really nice place to unwind after a long day at the museums and the pyramids and it was great to see Nadi's smiling face each time we sat in for a cocktail and stogey.

Anyway, you cant beat the Four Seasons and if you are in Cairo I highly recommend making this your hotel of choice as it is perfectly located, has old school elegance, is VERY secure and the service is impeccable.

For those familiar with the Four Seasons brand in other locations, I am sad to say, you will need to lower your expectations. This is not up to Four Seasons luxury standards by any means.

Check-in was painful. There was one person working at reception in the tiny, cramped, charmless lobby and a tour group just arrived. It took forever to check in and I honestly thought maybe we had the wrong hotel.

No assistance with baggage - my wife carried her suitcase up the stairs to the lifts. At a typical tourist hotel, fine….but at the Four Seasons?

Room was surprisingly dated. Just old fashioned with beige and mauve colors. My grandmother would have loved it.

They provided 1 regular Nespresso pod for 2 guests (?), so I phoned housekeeping to request more. I was informed they could bring me more…and charge me for them. This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard of. The idea of the Four Seasons in Milan or New York charging a guest for an extra coffee pod is so unbelievable it’s almost funny.

Worse part is the smell of cigarettes outside our room was unbearable. All Four Seasons in Europe are smoke free so this was very surprising. (Yes the hotel allows smoking “on some floors” but this seems to be very poorly regulated.) Management tried to correct this with an air freshener but it’s hard to counter the extreme smell of cigarette smoke. It’s disgusting they allow smoking at all - impossible to get that smell out of the upholstery or carpeting.

I left my shoes out for the complimentary overnight shoe shine available at Four Seasons across the globe. The next morning they were still hanging there, unpolished. Only difference is that they now smelled like cigarette smoke from their night in the hallway.

The only part that seemed proper Four Seasons to me was the delicious breakfast. The spread of food was impressive and the service was excellent.

Altogether very disappointing. We will book the St Regis next time instead.

Honestly perhaps one of the best decisions we've ever made in the selection of places to stay. The room was in impeccable shape, especially as it pertained to fit and finish and the room itself and bathroom were quite large. The bed was quite comfortable and the air conditioner more than sufficient at keeping our room very cool when necessary. The room service was another significant highlight with the quality of food being excellent and the service equally so. Youssef in room service bears mentioning as one of the friendlist and pleasant folks we met along the way. The staff also at the front desk and in security at the entrance were all equally friendly and pleasant. After a long day touring Cairo, coming back to our room was something we looked forward to every evening. I highly recommend especially pertaining to value for money well spent.

As part of our recent Smithsonian Journey to Egypt we were privileged to stay at this place -- Twice! We expected elegance and got that. We didn't expect great gobs of space; enough where we could be said to rattle around in our accommodations in the style of some old money travelers. We had an entry hall, a sitting room and a very spacious bedroom and bath. Too bad that we had to go out touring rather than sit and enjoy the space and view of the Nile.

Service and food were fine, and elegantly done. Even the laundry was elegantly done as socks and underwear came back tied in silk bows They were packed under the individually wrapped shirts, with the whole package wrapped gently in a cloth that could double as a scarf.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the first residence for 6 nights. The decor is very nice, the bar and restaurant food/staff are amazing and the location is very good. Unfortunately the following negative points made me rate it a 4 instead of a 5: the key card for your room will deactivate if it goes anywhere near a mobile phone. The staff are a aware of this yet management haven’t resolved the issue, making it very annoying to keep going to reception for them to re-activate our card . The reception service itself takes too long -There are around 4 desks yet only ever a maximum of 2 staff available to help. When we arrived, no one offered to show us to our room or take our case up for us, despite me clearly dragging it up the lobby stairs in front of the staffs view.
It was my birthday on one of the days we were there which I didn’t disclose to the hotel, despite this they very kindly left a birthday cake in our room which was very thoughtful.
Overall it’s a very nice hotel with great food, the staff are lovely and will go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable and having a great stay. Overall I recommend this hotel for couples wishing to explore everting Cairo has to offer.

You gonna face:
> negotiation with trying to convince you that every thing is ok instead of giving the guest what he needs
> no service passion
> they get apply the get me right standard because they are not good listeners
> they never give you alternative solution ( you better ask them )
Am outsider guest went to buy cookies on the last Friday on September11 st. I got my order on Monday on September 14 Th. The cookies were so delicious . The quality is fabulous. The presentation is amazing. I got my request as it was Requested.
The problem when I came back to ask for a smaller bag and smaller take away box because I can't walk in the street with the bigger ones. I got a bizarr answer from Abanoub the server there ( this is our availability for the moment ) instead of adapting himself to the guest's mood and situation ( no attention on what I said )
Some charge came to me, after asking for it. He was holding his Name Tag in his and hided it from me and didn't introduce himself.is it a kind of respect ? Is it a four-season standard to hide your Name tag !! and then i got the same answer with negotiation and conveniences that the their stocks are empty for the moment because of the Country conditions and it's a cost for them to fulfill their stock. Cost is much better for them than the guest satisfaction!! At the end he told me what can do for you now ? Any thing you gonna say I gonna do it for you instead of adapting his to the guest's mood and situation and give him alternative solution without asking for alternative solution. Am guest not a server to ask them for giving alternative solution. Where is the service passion though !! Is it equal to all the quests or the outsider guests only !! Is it discrimination?

This is a traditional hotel, which unfortunately has been completely over developed. Although the hotel didn’t appear full our room was situated right next to the lifts which was quite noisy, this would have been ok if it was the only issue but every evening there was loud music blaring out until late into the night which kept us awake. I’m not sure if it was from the hotel but our closed window did not keep it out. We had a few problems with the room, the cleaning staff seemed to only carry out a basic clean everyday infact I noticed that they didn’t appear to vacuum the carpet, they never replaced the shampoo, bath gel etc and the television was faulty. The reception staff were generally poor, telling you exactly what you wanted to hear but doing nothing, examples of this was saying that they would call you back and not doing so, giving incorrect information and not actioning what was agreed. The pool area was nice but was completely over shadowed by a huge building overlooking the Nile that both blocked out the sun from this area and part of the view from the main hotel. On a positive note the food was good, restaurant staff professional and there is an excellent Lebanese restaurant on site. When checking the final bill I noticed that we had been charged for the mini bar in the room which we never use, again we were promised that it would be removed and so I settled up . When finally checking out at 4am I was told that I still owed for the mini bar, when I explained everything the receptionist removed it from the bill but made me feel that this was a great service/favour. This is not a bad hotel but did not meet my high expectations for the brand/cost.

Yes. The concierge arranged for a certified laboratory to take our tests and produce the result in about 12 hours, in both English and Arabic. It is, however, costly, at about $100 USD per person.
