Detailed Reviews

We stayed for two nights to take advantage of the Steigenberger’s close proximity to the Great Pyramids along with those in Saqqara and Dahshur. It was a very good choice.
We knew we would be arriving well after midnight, and the hotel promptly responded to my email advising them in advance. The room was clean, modern and sufficiently spacious, and when we arose in the morning, the “Deluxe Pyramids View” room we booked indeed had a wonderful look at them — and well worth the premium. The staff was professional and friendly at all times. As for the food, the breakfast buffet had an excellent omelet station and plentiful offerings, but some of them, especially the pastries, were not up to levels we found at other Egyptian hotels. We chose to forego the evening buffets, but we enjoyed some Egyptian beers and wines and lighter bites at their Italian restaurant/lounge.
The Steigenberger has an ATM and gift shop just past the swimming pool -- I would suggest bargaining at the gift shop.
We believe the Steigenberger offers good value for the its location, the quality of the rooms and the quality of service. While we believe the breakfast food offerings could be at a more consistently high quality, we would happily choose to stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We chose this hotel because my daughter particularly wanted to have a room with a view of the pyramids. Here are the pros and cons of our stay:
Pros - Excellent location for a view of the pyramids and it was lovely to eat breakfast while looking at the pyramids.
Loved the swimming pool bar area because the staff were excellent
Food in the pool area was excellent
Good size bedrooms with interconnecting rooms
They allowed an early check in
Cons - As our rate didn't include breakfast, we were offered the buffet breakfast @ $15 per person per day (pppd), which we declined because we thought it was excessive. Instead, we ordered room service and paid EGP 195 pppd including tax and service, which is approximately $6 pppd (or £5 pppd).
There was a terrible noise in our bedroom, which we reported to reception. Nobody came back to us and the noise continued throughout our entire stay.
The bath and shower plugholes were blocked in both bedrooms, so you had to have a quick shower. When we reported this on our departure, the receptionist grumbled that we should have told them and they would have fixed it. Needless to say, given that the noise in the bedroom was never addressed, we didn't see any point.
Bedroom carpets are not hoovered between stays.
If you do not wish to have housekeeping knocking on your door before 9am, put out the "Do not disturb" sign.
When we asked about using the Spa, we were told it was under construction.
Swimming pool not heated
We ate in the Italian restaurant and the food was average. We did not eat there again and ordered room service instead as the hotel restaurant didn't appear to be serving non coach party people.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but this was mainly because of the view of the pyramids and the food/service at the pool bar.

It is a wonderful hotel, located literally in front of the pyramids of Giza, which offers an amazing postcard throughout the day.
Reception: very comfortable facilities to check-in which is done very quickly. It has a large area to sit and relax while waiting, for example to start excursions.
Room: very comfortable, of considerable dimensions which gives it a lot of comfort. It has a relaxing area and with a terrace with direct view to the pyramids, really wonderful. The bathroom is very good dimensions, and with all the essential amenities for all travelers, they also offer complimentary gowns and slippers. Also in the rooms there is a work and reading area for those who need it. The cleanliness of the room is impeccable.
Breakfast: super complete, resort-worthy, offers all kinds of options both cold and ready at the time. Variety of fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, bakery products, also vegan options. Really a highlight of the hotel. The important thing is that they serve it from very early in the morning (4 am), which is fantastic because many excursions or departures to other destinations in Egypt are very early in the morning.
The common areas of the hotel are very nice, the park and pool area is a very pleasant and relaxing place.
It is certainly a hotel to return to, to enjoy its excellent services and especially the views of the pyramids.

We did not have a good experience at this hotel. Great location, close to the pyramids and in front of the brand new GEM.Beautiful view of the pyramids. The room was large and very comfortable.
The management of this hotel, the service and the cleanliness were far below our expectations, for a hotel of this category and price, and in comparison with other hotels of the same category during our stay.
A succession of small cuckoos, empty shower product, impossible to reach the reception, different elements fell in the bathroom, but above all, a dirt of carpets in the hallway and our room, full of dust.... The pillow covers were full of small blackish stains (makeup style). In a word, dirty.
The snack we had at the bar, waited nearly 30 minutes, was frankly bad. The second night we went out to eat and it was superb!
At breakfast (whose buffet is very good, large and varied, pleasant indoor and outdoor rooms), there are no small spoons. When you request one, the waiter throws it on the table!
Finally, the breakfast boxes ordered for 05:55 in the morning (very early departure), were not ready, we had to swallow a coffee standing and catch some pastries on the buffet before our departure.
When I expressed annoyance with this situation and the service was generally lamentable, the receptionist simply did not respond.
I will not go back and do not recommend this hotel.

We arrived late morning and were most appreciative that the friendly front desk personnel could allow us into our room early. The room was spacious and comfortable. After flying all night, we were happy to be able to relax for the day before a full day of pyramid touring planned. Unfortunately, our experience at dinner put a pallor over the whole day. I had ordered an ice cream at the pool, signed my bill (very small) and, as usual in the US, collected the bottom carbon of the check, assuming, with no indicator otherwise, that this was the customer copy. Again, at the bar, with no one informing us otherwise, I signed and collected the bottom copy of the check. Off to dinner - and I was suddenly surrounded by 3 rude men, demanding the OTHER copies of my 2 checks. It took me a while to understand what they wanted. When I said, “oh sorry, I took the wrong one.” They wanted me to go upstairs to my room to get it. The maitre ‘d said he would send someone with me to collect and bring it down when we finished dinner. This was, by the way, about a $2 check for one scoop of ice cream. By now, my husband was furious at their rudeness and had to insist that he would bring the carbon copy downstairs himself and did not want an escort. To add insult to injury, there was a tray of readers available for diner’s use. I had taken one, thinking I would need it to read the menu, reflecting on what a lovely idea this was. Discovered there WAS no menu since buffet was the only option. I returned the reading glasses to the exact spot I had borrowed them from, and as we left, the manager came after me about the reading glasses! This is an EXPENSIVE 5 star resort. To treat guests - women - in this rude and offensive manner is simply unacceptable. I would urge anyone who values courtesy to avoid this hotel and it’s unpleasant and offensive dining staff, who effectively ruined this experience for us.

The hotel sells itself as 5 stars, upon arrival there was no one to help us with our bags, the room is relatively new, the bed is comfortable and in the bathroom there is little water in the shower, the towels smell like cigarettes and the hairdryer doesn't work. The next day I asked for the hairdryer to be changed and when I came back at the end of the day the hairdryer was still the same... I went back to reception and asked again, the concierge informed me that the hairdryer stops after 10 seconds for safety reasons. The hotel does not have an a la carte restaurant with air conditioning and this is really uncomfortable when you are in summer in Egypt in 40 degree heat. On our second day, our room was inexplicably not cleaned. The location was also a real problem because for any plan you are going to do besides visiting the Pyramids it will take you at least half an hour and the path didn't seem very safe to us. Anyway, I don't recommend this bad experience to anyone. I researched and found many other options with better value for money:

A very wonderful visit and a very beautiful stay. It was one of the best vacations I spent in the hotel. The room was organized and had a very special location overlooking a private swimming pool. The restaurants were fully prepared and the service was very special and the food was delicious and different, making it a wonderful mixture of Egyptian and Italian.

We stayed here before and after our Nile Cruise
The first stay we had a great room on the second floor, everything worked well and we were very pleases
The second stay we got a room on the third floor and the air conditioning was breaking and hard to turn on, and the shower had half the pressure as the first room, and the toilet seat was barely hanging on and broken.
The other downside to this hotel is some of the staff. The front desk and restaurant staff were rude and did not have great customer service skills.
However the bag person, and the guy running the scanner at the door and the room cleaners, were all very friendly

We had the most incredible stay at the Steigenberger by the Pyramids. We booked directly with the hotel with the assistance of their reservations team, Mariam from the reservations team was so helpful! She helped us making our booking and supported with helping us plan logistics associated with our trip! The rooms were incredible, we had a pyramid view which was amazing! The rooms were large, very clear, beds were comfortable and the location was perfect for all the tourist attractions we wanted to see!

Hi I think from around 5 pm till at least 22 pm, but I am not 100% sure sorry
Hi, You will need to check with the Hotel but I'm sure at worst they will let you wait in the reception area - it's a lovely hotel and the Staff were great so I'm sure you're not the first to turn up 'early'!! Enjoy your trip.

Eccleshall, United Kingdom112 contributions29 helpful votesWe are due to stay here in November, will we be able to exchange British currency at the hotel or is there an ATM. We arrive late at night and need to get this ready for a trip the following morning. Thanks in advance.
There's an ATM at the hotel near by.. Just ask the staff.
Sorry, I cant answer your question as I'd pre-booked all my tours before the holiday. I don't see why you can't book at the Hotel - I'd be amazed if you can't. Why not email them and ask? Hope your trip goes well!
Hi traveller
We were told the hotel did have the facility for laundry. best to ask to get it, pretty sure they do it though.
The swimming pool is great with the swim-up bar.
Have a good 'un
