The hotel is quite handy to the pyramids at Giza, but is a good hour's drive from the airport through very heavy Cairo traffic. A very nice hotel but the surrounding area is rather run down with few local dining and shopping options. Our room was clean and comfortable with a roomy bathroom. Plenty of cafe/restaurant options for coffees and alcohol, the menu was reasonably priced but lacked variation. Breakfasts were very good, with fresh cooked eggs.
Amazing stay in Barcelo starting from warm welcome by reception to a proffissional treatment from hotel staff. Room is clean, fabulous breakfast. Attendance of management is clear. It was a memorable stay.
As others have posted, this is a good hotel, in a great location, with a good breakfast and dinner full buffet and an excellent staff that is super attentive, especially the concierge at Guest Relations. (If you have a problem skip the front desk and go directly to her.) We were there for four nights in February 2020. We were able to opt for an extended 6 pm check out our last day as our flight did not leave until 2 am. After that the porters kept our luggage quite safe until we left. The Horus Dining Room on top of the hotel was fantastic! I had the Ginger Shrimp - large, succulent and perfectly seasoned. I highly recommend you skip the buffet one night and try them out. Prices were actually very reasonable and you get to see the lights on the pyramids while you eat. Outstanding. Our room was adequate, clean, comfortable beds, great shower (although the shower door leaked) and quiet- which are really the most important things needed in a hotel room - however it was tiny (two twin beds took up almost the whole room) and the window faced an alley and the building next door that is only a few feet away. (I imagine this is because it is a very nice hotel and we opted for "Comfort Class" on our tour - worst room in one of the best hotels type of deal.) We also had a late night scare with someone trying to get into our room at about 4:30 AM. Luckily the hinge lock kept them out. We called the Front Desk - they were of no help - "Generally, we are very sorry" - really?) In the morning we had the concierge look into it as there was a camera in the hall right outside our room. Turns out the Front Desk had mistakenly given our room to a new, late arriving guest. I think they need to do better in training their Front Desk. But overall, it was a good experience. a good hotel and we had stories to bring back with us.…
Good/clean hotel with very friendly staff always willing to help. Located on a busy main street so some rooms will be facing the road and hear local traffic. Also no good restaurants within walking distance so you will need to book a taxi. Breakfast was good - great mix of continental and local cuisine with the executive chef on hand to provide recommendations. On our last morning , we had a very early flight and the hotel provided the group with a with very generous breakfast box. The rooms are clean, spacious and with a very comfortable bed.
I recently spent four nights here and really enjoyed the location (close to the Pyramids at Giza, to Fustat (the ancient capital) and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, Cairo Geniza and Hanging Church, and also convenient for shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable, the service typically warm and friendly, and the food was great. And for those like me who need it, the shower was excellent! There are plenty of spaces to sit and relax, the staff can't do enough for you and the rates are reasonable. If I had to find fault, it would only be the noise of the night traffic which is ubiquitous and hardly avoidable anywhere in Cairo. I warmly recommend it to families and travellers who don't want to spend top rates, but still want comfort and a little luxury.
