This a great value with a convenient location. Rooftop patio is a great relaxing breezy place to unwind after a long day in the heat exploring. It has the absolute best sunset views of the pyramids complex and free viewing of the nightly sound and light show at the Sphinx. Staff was polite and extremely helpful. Breakfast was a great start for a day on the run. We had two rooms for a family of four. Both rooms were super clean and comfortable. The a/c worked fabulously. The short walk along the back streets to and from the guest house gives a glimpse into the everyday lives of those who serve the Giza tourist industry. Everyone we met along these streets was welcoming and we always felt safe and at ease.

*** Please note, I wrote this review of events in chronological order, and I'll be referring to them as hostel and guest house interchangeably*** This quandary begins when the property delayed a response to my request for airport shuttle service. Said they would charge me 60 US dollars for shuttle service per car (see attached photo), more than triple the price of what Uber would charge for the same service. I ended up using a real airport shuttle van service altogether. Also, not mentioned up front of the listing: the hostel isn't at a door service location (no vehicular access), so you have to walk about two blocks dragging your luggage through an sandy and poorly lit alleyway that's laden in with animal excrement and urine all the way . This was our experience, late at night. Neighborhood kids will run up to you, and audaciously start digging in your pockets, or purse, while asking for money. I consider it false advertisement when the listing states free bottled water (which you need as a necessity in the middle of the desert) is offered to guests, however, upon our arrival and request, we were denied bottled water. We were told we could buy a small glass of water for 3 EGP/large glass for 5 EGP. Then we were told of was to use the bathroom sink water and boil it in the in-room tea kettle. Thank goodness we have our own water jugs with filters). In my opinion, that is inhumane af to say the least. Also not mentioned up front of the listing: no elevators and in the middle of shanty buildings/dwellings.Climbed five flights of stairs, after being on almost 18-hour flight, three international airports, customs, security and and shuttle drive, the last thing we wanted to do was climb stairs. The rooms and common areas were clean, beds were sleepable, and there's a awesome unobstructed terrace view of the Pyramids and Sphinx, atop the building. There was both visible and the smell of mold in the bathroom. Elements hidden in the online posting to obstruct any potential guests from making well informed decisions in booking. Now, here's where the insult to injury to I the customer happens: The online travel booking site invited me to do a review on my stay at the hostel. I stated my review of dissatisfaction on the travel site. Moments later, the hotel sent me a very hostile and indignant message (screenshots attached), calling me a liar, twice. Then tried to use "God" in fallic attempts of judgement. I have since reported and filed a complaint with the travel booking site, who refunded me for my troubles, and are investigating the guest house. I've stated more here on the tripadvisor review than I initially did in the travel booking site, as in retrospect, I'm surmising how toxic and aggressive this establishment behaves, or really thinks of their customers. No embellishments here, just recounting all details I think pertinent in this review on Tripadvisor for all to see. There are a lot of individuals who've had good experiences and left great reviews unfortunately for them, I'm not one of them. I know I'm not the only one because they just felt too comfortable to have the level of indignancy in communication and treatment towards me. In my initial review on the travel booking site I rated them a 6 out of 10 but in light of all the extra nonsense they gave I've deduced them to a -25. The guest house been advised to not contact me further and if they do, it's considered harassment and I am at liberty to involve the proper commissions as needed. P.S. Now that my trust in this establishment has been compromised from their unprovoked verbal attack towards me, and since I know the owner is reading this, if EVER either of our identities are compromised, I'll know who/when/where/which culprit direction to point and trace both the local/federal authorities to. As it is said, "Manners and character will get you a lot further along in life and places that money and education can't.* Ultimately, from one night stay in this what should be shatted shanthouse, has lost all credibility with me going forward. Either they're in the wrong industry or they pick the wrong customer to "fudge" with.

Response from Hamad Wallace Tan, Owner at Pyramids Guest House
Responded May 18, 2021
Dear Guest, Thanks for your review. However, we would like to clarify the truth about the whole situation. First, regarding to the airport shuttle, kindly note that there are 9 luggages and our standard charge is 30USD per car. Hence, we required to send 2 cars for such service. Also, the journey from airport to our guest house is about 40mins, and the price is definitly not overcharging. Furthermore, we didn't receive your message regarding to the airport transfer before your arrival. Secondly, as what we have promoted, the guest house is located at the neighbouhood and hence, we don't have a proper drop-off at the main entrance. Along the journey, you may meet the kids asking for money, but they have no harm. Also, we did not claim the place is assessible, all claim in the internet and website are correct and as per the condition. Furthermore, our staff is helpful to assist you and carry all the luggage to the top floor. Thirdly, we have provided a bottle of water during the breakfast and our staff has already informed that additional water is 5EGP. We never wanted to be in any argument however the guest is unwilling to accept our offer, so we have to make a suggestion- never mean to insult anyone. Lastly, we also never advised that you not to contact us. We serve our guest honestly with a great heart and we hope that we receive the same respect. Thank you
