We stayed for 3 nights here whilst travelling in Egypt to join an organised tour. Excellent service and a great room, although it had a couple of glitches. The air-conditioner developed an issue the first night and we couldn’t get it to go above 17°C - very nice at first, and ideal to get to sleep, but bitter cold the next morning! An engineer came quickly to fix it after we reported it. The last night, I put the hot tap on, but couldn’t turn it off. Again we reported the problem, but it took some time for maintenance to fix. Fortunately, it was back to normal when we got back from dinner. The hotel is ideally positioned next to the Cairo Museum, overlooking Tahrir Square and a short walk from the Cairo Tower. The consierge will arrange taxis and trips out if you desire. The food in the restaurants is delicious and well-presented. The Nox restaurant on the roof/top floor has great food and fabulous views of the Nile and surrounding city areas. Out of the Nox is a terrific area to sit, sip coffee or cocktails and watch the nightlife whilst being entertained by live musicians/singers.

We got in after midnight and they had a big wedding party going on out back. Our room faced it so was difficult to sleep that night. It was so loud. So be sure and ask for a room that faces the street. I have to agree with an earlier review about the ciggy smell. It hits you right away. But, it’s just not this place. It’s everywhere you go in Egypt. It seems smokers rule. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfy. We had breakfast each morning at the top and the view is wonderful. Food was good but be careful when ordering eggs. They tend to undercook them. I learned the first day so started ordering them “overcooked” from then on. I should say that it’s this way thru out Egypt though. The people are so nice and kind here. You are treated very well. Pool area is clean. We thought the drinks were very weak. The Illy coffee makers in the room were awesome. I wanted to take it with us 😂😂 Might have to buy one when we get home. Wasn’t perfect but really wasn’t bad either. I’d return just for those beds and coffee makers.

I am a huge fan of the Ritz and stay there often, but they really need to do something about the cigarettes smell at that location, I booked a one night non smoking room there and when I walked in the room and it literally smelled like an ashtray, talked to the manager (Bishoy?) there shortly after, and he was great and switched the room for us and sent some dessert and fruit which was greatly appreciated, but even the new room in the middle of the night, my wife and I both woke up to strong cigarettes smell, walked down to the lobby for breakfast and it also smelled like strong cigarettes smell….still a fan of the Ritz and I hope they fix that problem at that location.

Yesterday we had a dinner for the board of directors in the Vox restaurant on the 13th floor of the nile Ritz-Carlton. The place looked old and tired. The lights and music didn't make any sense. The disappointment was mostly in the 5 courses meal we had. Attention to details was totally absent; soup served as truffles soup was basically mushroom soup, the shrimps and sorbet were ok. The Greek salad vegetables were saggy and tasteless with a very poor quality feta cheese in it clearly to cut cost. I asked for steak rare but they decided to serve it to their taste, well done, the garnish of the th steak was extremely poor with a very strange bowl of white rice which didn't fit in at all...desert was supposed to be crème brûlée, but it was a crème caramel with thick crust of sugar on top .... Very disappointing experience...

The service at the Cairo Ritz was exceptional. Hossam took excellent care at each meal to meet and exceed our expectations. This was an amazing Ritz experience, rivaling our Ritz stays around the world. The history in and around Cairo are worthy of exploring and studying.
