Basic hotel right in the heart of Cairo. Good location with Egyptian musuem 5 mins walk away, Zamalek only 15 mins walk away and the bars, restaurants, shops, hustle and bustle of Downtown right on the doorstep.
The hotel is very central, so it's easy (and cheap) to get a taxi to the sites (Islami Cairo, the Citadel, Khan el Khalili, Coptic Cairo etc) or to jump on the Metro.
My room was basic but still came with TV, satelite, fridge and bathroom and was an absolute bargain.
The staff are awesome! Really friendly and very helpful.

For the price we paid, you'd think the walls wouldn't have unidentifyable crap smudged on the walls, or really dirty bathrooms, but yup! They did. We ended up moving Hotels a few times before realizing downtown Cairo - a mere few blocks away- offered cheaper, cleaner, better locations. Skip the hassle of this area by going to a more bustling street - the noise is actually less there, people will nag you to go into their stores less, and you have a slightly more authentic view of Cairo.

Make sure if you do stay here to negotiate a lower price for no breakfast - plain bread and a boiled egg can hardly be considered food of any quality.

Serious safety incident
I was staying here with a programme called AIESEC. I stayed here from the 5st of June 2018 until 19th July 2018.

Please, please please stay away from this hostel. I have lived here for over a month and I have seen some of the most horrific things.

When I first moved in, I was sharing a room with other AIESECER's from India. The girls left for a weekend trip to Hurghada and when they came back, their iPad went missing. The receptionist, Ibrahim, blamed me and said that he would call the police on me. What's funny is that the girls had given the keys to the reception to keep safe, and it is obvious that they went through the room and stole. Unfortunately, I had my bags searched (an invasion to privacy) and found nothing. This all happened in room 605.

Then, when those girls went back to India, I had new girls move in on the 18th of July. I left for the airport to pick up a friend, and when I returned, I had all of my money ($500) stolen from my bag which was hidden behind the bed. This is not the first time money has been stolen from people. Others had clothes, large sum of money, passports, laptops and ipads stolen from their room. My new roommate, just a few days ago, had ALL of her clothes stolen.

I complained and they said they will check the camera's; but they never did. I reported it to the police and alot of mess happened at the police station. The owner arrived, who was a horrible person, accusing me of madness and lying about my money getting stolen and that I've made it all up. When we returned from the station, they apparently 'checked' the cameras, and claimed that no one went inside my room. The corridor which my room is situated has NO CAMERA's and I have pictures to prove that.

Three of my friends have been sexually assaulted by Ibrahim, who previously stated that I was the one who stole the iPad. Also, I was religiously and racially discriminated against by a woman named Dalia, who said that "slavery should be back because black people do not deserve rights." Management did nothing about it and did not remove her from the hostel.

This hostel is run by gangsters who make a living by stealing possessions and then blaming it on you and have the audacity to threaten to call the police on you.
Also, they have SEVERAL copies of keys. I found out when I stumbled across a box behind the counter that had hundreds of copies of keys, even though they had previously claimed to only having two copies for each room. The workers at the hostel
watch when people go out for the day around Cairo and steal your possessions when you're not there.

These people are gangsters who steal and prey on younger girls. I cannot tell you the amount of girls i have seen in tears over sexual harassment and the feeling of not being able to talk to anyone about it because nothing will ever be done. I, myself, was sexually harassed by someone who wonders around just outside of the hostel building.

This place is dangerous, especially if you're travelling alone. Also, food is handled quite badly in the kitchen (if you opt fot the breakfast option). I saw Ibrahim clean his teeth with a nescafe coffee sachet and put it back in the box. I almost vomitted with disgust.

-The toilets are not cleaned properly

-The floor and furnitures are dusty.

-The matresses are filthy so please check before you sleep on them.

-Wifi is awful.

People here do not care for you, all they care about is your money and valuables you are carrying.

I was there on May 2014 and I must say it was a very pleasant stay. The rooms are OK but what makes the difference is the nice and hospitable staff that is there for you to help and assist you 24/7. If you look for a place to stay in Cairo, go there.

Greetings from Argentina!!!

After reading reviews for this hotel, I booked 2 rooms, one for me & my wife and our 4 years old son, and one for my three daughters ages 22,21 & 16. Was shocked to see it. My wife and kids refused to stay there. Went to other much better(and expensive) hotel. It might be good for back packers, but if you want some standard, than stay away from this place. Its "you get what you pay for". If travelling with family, stay as far away from here as you can.

Not clean, not nice, run down communual kitchenette, fine for students who aren't fussy about the standard of accommodation as it is 2 mins walk from the museum, very central.

I tried to arrange my hotels on a budget and ended up in this hotel after having been told that it was 2 star price for 5 star accommodation, LOL. This was your standard ugly dirty Cairo hotel. Really nice staff, not nice accommodation. The shower and toilet were usable. The towel they had hanging in the en-suite shower was dirty. Thank goodness I had my own towel. The receptionist said that if I run out of hot water and can't take a shower he will return my rent £100Egt/night. In Egypt you have to take that kind of talk with a big pinch of salt. Unfortunately there was plenty of hot water! Take care, the water comes out superheated. Of the two beds one had stained sheets and the pillow was dirty and smelly, luckily the other bed was clean (or at least it looked clean). Needless to say the aircon didn't work but I didn't need it. My Egyptian girlfriend refused to stay there and went home, bless her!! I promptly left the next morning and luckily we found a good deal from a high street travel agent for the Flamenco on Zamalek island which is a very clean hotel though dated.

Fotos online are a SCAM! We couldn’t get out of our room! We panicked! Employee had to bust door open. Everything dirty, nasty, broken. They asked for our passport to make a copy but 1 hour later we had to go to retrieve them but we couldn’t ESCAPE our room. No toilet paper, mold in bathroom! Paid for 3 nights. Stayed one night and demanded a refund. STAY AWAY!!! They are SCAMMERS!

For the 1st time, please brace yourself to walk up till 7-8floors
Strongly recommend you to pay the deposit to get the elevator key card which is not included in hotel card or in the payment. Otherwise you have to use the stair every time.
Room is good and cleanliness is satisfactory with room for improvement. They upgraded my room during my stay.
Staffs were helpful. They can help you with anything.
Breakfast was simple just egg and bread.
Reasonable price.
