Dahab Hostel, Your Oasis in the City... It has been open since 1998. It has been registered in all the major guidebooks and has consistently received positive reviews. Dabab Hostel is centrally located in the heart of Downtown Cairo. It is just a 3-minute-walking distance to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Sq., and within easy reach to the main train and bus stations. Dabab Hostel has its own special charm. It is a collection of whitewashed huts on the rooftop attempting to recreate the feel of Sinai beach camp in an unremittingly urban Downtown Cairo. Once you get inside, you will definitely sense the totally laid-back, chilled out and cozy atmosphere. The outdoor garden area is just superb for lounging around and catching up with other travelers in the evening. The breeze is refreshing and the vibe is incontestable. It is an ideal place for artistic travellers as well. Enjoy the fantastic reggae music played, laying back in the sun, smoking Shisha 'Water pipe' on the rooftop at the Bedwin corner. Sit back & relax, plan your itineraries & catch up with your family & friends by logging onto our new optimized FREE WiFi Broadband Internet coverage for the entire hostel. Our rooms are equipped withprivate facilities and A/C. We have single, double and private dorms available and there are 39 rooms in total. Dahab hostel is one of the most amazing hostel in cairo if it’s not the best one , I’ve been staying there for a month and I’ve been enjoying it alott . The place is colourful and full of life . It’s true that the rooms are basic but once you go up in the rooftop you’ll feel the good vibe . The stuff there are like a family , they’re helpful nice and always available. They always take care of the cleanliness of the rooms , the shower ,the kitchen and the bathrooms and they provide tours with really reasonable prices . If you’ve been to cairo and you didn’t visit dahab hostel YOU’VE NEVER BEEN TO EGYPT !
PS : it will be a good opportunity to meet people from all around the world 🌎

Decent price vs what you get, central location of Downtown Cairo, but the airport transfer at 200EGP is a rip off when you can get an Uber for 95EGP. The loo and showers are decent, mixed but don't have anywhere to put your clothes so they can get wet if you're not careful. Breakfast was standard Egyptian style and size at an extra c.25EGP and it was interesting staying in rooms depicted in the novel "The Yacoubian Building"

Picked up by a driver from the airport (whilst uber could have been cheaper) this was hassle less.

The staff were very friendly and helpful - even given a cake on arrival for my birthday which was very sweet.

What i most liked about this hostel was the shower had hot hot water (a must for me), meeting other solo travellers along the way (some of us travelled to other regions together & kept in touch), oh and no insects bites from the room.

I regularly used this hostel during my stay in Egypt as a stop off to and from Sharma, Hurghada and back to airport.

If you're looking for something central, with friendly staff and some where you can lay your head to rest this should gets the job done.

P.s i hope you like cats they do have a few roaming around lounging ;)

I had an excellent stay at Dahab Hostel. The staff is friendly, helpfull and informative. The location could not be much better with walking distance to the Egyptian Museum, Tahrir Square and the center of Cairo. Bus companies such as Go Bus and West Delta are close (near Tahrir Square) and there are metro stations within 10 minutes walk to other parts of Cairo. It is a good budget option with very reasonable prices for the room as well as other services such as airport pick-up, breakfast and laundry. Especially recommendable is the one day tour to the Giza, Saqqara and Dashur pyramids with Moussa Bader. He is a very kind person, speaks English very well and can answer a lot of questions one might want to know about Egypt. At 500 Egyptian pounds for one taxi and driver for a whole day (8 hour tour), the price is unbeatable. The Saqqara and Dashour pyramids are outside Cairo and while it is possible to get there by public transport, this is much more convenient. There is no pressure to buy anything of any kind. You are not dependent on any schedule in this way - highly recommendable!!!

Just a really cool vibe in general, rooftop hostel with sun always shining, open kitchen during covid which means you can cook for yourself or others... Lots of cats and plants. The staff are really friendly and Willing to help with your itinerary or tourist activities. 24/7 reception is really helpful and the price is worth it for the great environment and exposure to loads of other travelers you'll soon befriend. Currently £E 150 Egyptian pounds for a single room, but an amazing packaged deal £E 2000 for a month (roughly £E 60 a day) which you cannot find any competitor for. Cheaper to share a room also. Reliable WiFi and best location you could wish for. Cheers to the guys at the hostel for making me feel welcome...

Dahab hostel is located in the centre of Cairo, close to buses/metro, shops which makes it super convenient. The staff there are amazing, kind, friendly, and very helpful with everything. The rooms were clean, and the rooftop terrace is the perfect place to hang out after a long day. They also offer breakfast, laundry facilities and affordable tours/transportation to destinations around Egypt. Would definitely stay there again if I return to Cairo!

dirty & too hot .

They raise cats , like tens of them . Their poop , piss and food leftovers are everywhere on the floor outside of the rooms .

I'd stayed in a room with a fan but even the coming from the fan was hot so I had to leave to another room with AC .
The AC wasn't strong enough so it was still hot . Stayed there for two nights until I found another cheaper ,clean and better air-conditioned hostel. Me and my other two friends were paying almost 30$ per night for a supposedly air-conditioned triple room with a shared bathroom . And now we're staying in another hostel with perfect ac and private bathroom and paying 20$ . There are many many better options than this hostel.

I stayed 4 months in Dahab Hostel, I had an amazing time there. The hostel is on the rooftop, it’s like a garden with a lot of plants and nice areas to chill. Some cute cats are living around, it’s a really nice atmosphere.
The hostel is clean, common areas are cleaned twice a day, room are simple but practical with fan or AC.
The staff is really friendly, they help me a lot when I had question and always ask if everything is okay.
The hostel is well situated, in downtown Cairo, close to the Egyptian museum. Several restaurants, bakeries, an alcohol shop nearby and the bus station to travel to the whole country is at 5min walking distance.
The hostel offers tours to visit several places in Egypt. I booked a 1night/ 2days tour to the black&white desert, it was an amazing experience, the tour was well organised, we spent the night in the desert.
I recommend this place 100%, it’s the best place to stay in Cairo to have a nice and chill time there.

Cleaners did a great job everyday with keeping the public showers and toilets well maintained. Equipped kitchen with a fridge and utensils. Would definitely stay again if visitinf Cairo

When I was planning y first trip to Egypt, a friend of mine recommended me Dahab Hostel. I had no idea what to expect, how was the layout of Cairo, the activities I'd be doing or whatsoever. Before arriving in Egypt, they helped me sort out a perfect trip for me, visiting not only the pyramids, which of course was my main priority but also other nearby attractions such as Old Cairo, Memphis, Saqqara, and even my trip to Alexandria, Dahab (in the Sinai) and my cruise in the Nile river! Pick-up service got me a little bit confused in the beginning as there are two exits. For a moment I thought they have forgotten about me as only big hotels were allowed into the airport hall, but then I saw that the "other" exit, the one in the parking lot and where taxis actually depart from, they were there waiting for me. The breakfast was really nice, and the place had a very nice chilled and relaxed vibe. It is indeed a couple of mins walk to the Cairo Museum and very well connected to the train/bus stations. There is no view of the actual pyramids, but that's not too far. Here you'll experience real Cairo-life and you'll love it! Thanks to all the staff for their help and their support. Looking forward to coming back and do the other tours I still need to take! Two weeks was not enough!
