What a great place - easily the friendliest and least-pretentious hotel in Cairo. Ok it's a bit worn at the edges but the decency of the staff and the overall atmosphere more than makes up for this. If you are tired of the hurly-burly of Cairo life sit in the Windsor bar for a G&T and feel the hassle melt... More

For the money, this is an ok hotel. Location was good and we felt safe and had no issue of noise. The check in was a hassle as they tried to upgrade us and wanted to make it long and complicated when it was late and we just wanted to go to bed. For the money, I would recommend it

The incredibly friendly staff did all they could to make our stay comfortable. It might be a little scuffed around the edges, but this is part of its charm. The hotel organised transport to the pyramids at a good price. Samir's a taxi driver-cum-tour guide who's a true gentleman with the panache of a concierge. He made our trip to... More

I spent ten days at the Windsor and it truly felt became a little home in Cairo for me. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the hotel, although a bit past its prime, is truly charming. The lounge is especially lovely, and I had many pleasant meals, evenings, and working afternoons there. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in... More

To me, to truly experience a new country and its culture, you have to go to the heart of the city and that is where The Windsor. It is no resort, but a piece of incredible history that you become apart of the moment you step through the door. The service and people we met were so warm and welcoming... More

This is not the hotel you would want to go to if you want a quiet relaxing holiday. In fact this is not the city you would go to if you want that. The Windsor has not changed since the around the 20's/30's. The furniture (including beds) are the sort my grandma had - literally!!! We came here because it's... More

I was hesitant when we arrived as the entrance is a bit more worn than the pictures... This hotel has seen better days, but it definitely has character. The continental breakfast was good, and the in house restaurant had reasonable prices for good food. Samhir was very helpful in booking tours of the pyramids, Islamic District, City of the Dead... Booked 4 nights because of a very positive review in The Guardian and the overwhelmingly positive reviews on this site. We reserved a suite--not available when we arrived (late), we got a horrible room for one night then a so-called Superior room for 3 nights. The reception is a dingy dark hole smelling of diesel fumes, the lift is an... More

The Windsor lays in the middle of Downtown Cairo, ist ihre it s at. The hotel is a charming place that got all you need an in addition you meet there interressting people and there is easy talking to every one of them. To tell the truth, I would not recommend this cosy hotel to any of my spoiled friends... More

The Windsor is true gem, it's everything a hotel should be; far far away in place and time, but still like home. Forget about stars or numbers, this is beyond, it's off the regular chart. This is more than a hotel, it's an institution. I hope the Windsor outlives me and many generations to come. I wanna go back as... More
