I styed at this hotel in January 2017 and came back again in October/November 2019. I love every thing about this hotel, the location, the staff, the service, the breakfast and the rooms. Staying at this hotel gives me the feeling I am at home. I highly recommend it.

Yes, this hotel has seen better days and some of its physical features are old (recharging my cell phone was a pain) but we appreciated the unfailing kindness and friendliness of its staff. It starts with a great welcome by Mr. Mohamed the doorman. You can’t miss him (he is BIG) and you will remember his smile and thoughtfulness. The concierge staff is attentive and helpful and we have enjoyed coming back from a full day out to a clean, spacious and comfortable room. Breakfasts are deliciously prepared by Chef Ramadan (Chef Brigade) and Chef Mahmoud and served cheerfully by a staff (Mohamed, Waleed) who remembers your preferences. Our experience at Le Méridien Heliopolis is positive as it’s all about the people and the great service they kindly offer their guests.

We spent a night at this hotel on our arrival in Egypt and an evening on our departure. Our first night was terrible. The air conditioning was not working properly and the buffet dinner was awful. I still have a mouthful of bones from the fish that night. Our second night was a better experience. The A/C was working well and I avoided the fish at the buffet. Management has acknowledged in response to previous reviews that the hotel needs updating. Hopefully, that will be accomplished soon. The staff was very helpful and the proximity to the airport is a plus.

Dear Valuable Guest, Greetings from Le Méridien Heliopolis… Thank you for choosing Le Meridien Heliopolis Hotel, while recently staying in Cairo, and for taking the time to complete the online guest expectations survey. It is with great concern that I have read your review and thank you for bringing these issues to our attention, we always appreciate when our guests take the time to share their concerns with us so we can endeavour to meet their expectations. Your comments have reflected a great disappointment with the air condition as well as the buffet. I would like to assure you that all your comments regarding dinner and air condition were transferred immediately to our Director of Food & Beverage and Chief Engineer to review and enhance our items and quality and recheck rooms before checking in to prevent reoccurrence. We totally agree that our hotel is in need to a new facelift, needless to mention that we are working on renovation issue many years ago, this plan was supposed to start 3 years ago, but due to Egypt current situation regretfully it was postponed, but rest assured that we are on the process to start soon by the rooms which will include new features, and will cover the entire hotel, we are all enthusiastic and eager to engage in this great challenging task and confident that once the renovations are completed we will exceed your expectations in terms of refurbishment, décor, service etc… Please accept our sincere apology and do not hesitate to call on me should you need any future assistance, I will be at your service anytime. We stayed at this hotel twice (first and last nights) as part of our two week Egypt tour package booked via Wingbuddy. I suspect it was chosen because it is fairly close to the airport (15-20 min). It was a friendly, busy and safe place to stay. The rooms may be dated but they are clean and do the job. The concierge helped us get a driver to/from the Cairo Museum since we had the first day to ourselves. In the lobby they have posted rates for drivers/tours to various destinations. We felt well looked after in this regard (no gouging). As for the food at Le Meridien, I especially enjoyed the buffet breakfasts at the St. Germain resto and thought the dinners were okay (not memorable). Twice we ate and had a beer in the lobby bar. The club sandwich and service was excellent. The pool closed at sundown which was a shame because the water was nice and warm. It would have been nice to go for an evening swim.

I stayed for a long flight lay over in Cairo, on a business trip to East Africa. The location is NOT close to major attractions in Cairo, eq. The Cairo Museum of Antiquity, The old Cairo, Citadel of Salahuddin. etc. Luckily I stayed on the weekend, which is affect easiness of my movements. On weekdays, that would be a different story. The check in was quite a swift process. Although my room was prepaid, they took a deposit on my credit card (which is quite normal). The check out however was a nightmare. The receptionist was trying to charge my card for the room again, on top of the prepaid booking AND the $100 deposit !!!. Had I not read their final folio, they would've got away charging me for 3 times the price of their room (prepaid booking, deposit, and full room charge at check out). The staff was sooo clueless and incompetent that they (2 people have to handle it) have to looked very deep in their system to find that I've prepaid the room 3 weeks prior. And until I write this review, they HAVE NOT returned the deposit to my Citibank card, although it's been almost 4 weeks since. The room was reasonably clean, but the furniture was dated. The hallway toward the room could use a lot of more cleaning and maintenance. In room WiFi was terrible. I didn't even bother to use it. Like I wrote on the title they want to achieve an Art Deco look and feels, but the final results is quite far off from the plan. I told the hotel staff that I want to go to Giza. They arranged my travel with a nice and English speaking taxi driver. Albeit the price is fixed and quite high, it was quite alright. I can give them good credit for this. I will definitely not stay here again in the future.

Dear ALVAREZ, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Le Méridien Heliopolis and providing your honest feedback on the Guest Satisfaction Survey. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. Regret any inconvenience caused during your stay, let me clarify that the main problem came out of your company CWT, they provided the hotel with a credit card that can't be used as per our bank regulations considered the card invalid for payment and this information was quite cleared upon your arrival. Accordingly, your have contacted the company explaining this issue, but with no response from their side, therefore reception associate was obliged to ask your goodself for payment. Regarding the key card, they are very sensitive and sometimes when guests approach them from their mobiles they loose their activation, We totally agree that our hotel is in need to a new facelift, needless to mention that we are working on renovation issue many years ago, this plan was supposed to start 3 years ago, but due to Egypt current situation regretfully it was postponed, but rest assured that we are on the process to start soon by the rooms which will include new features, and will cover the entire hotel, we are all enthusiastic and eager to engage in this great challenging task and confident that once the renovations are completed we will exceed your expectations in terms of refurbishment, décor, service etc… Please accept our apologies for having missed the opportunity to impress you and we do hope to have an opportunity to welcoming you back in the not too distant future. Should you like to contact your company for any refund, we will be glad to provide you with documents that proves you have covered your accommodation via your credit card at Le Meridien Heliopolis. Sincerely, The Hotel Management
