Le Passage Cairo Hotel & Casino offers a welcoming atmosphere and is frequently commended for its exceptional cleanliness, with guests often noting spotless rooms and well-kept common areas. While the comfort and amenities of the rooms receive mixed reviews, the hotel's prime location near Cairo International Airport and the convenient shuttle service are popular among travelers. The hotel is very well located , less than 10 min from the airport, and they offer free transfer, the security is also very good.
The infrastructure is amazing, you could easily live there, without the need to go outside, they have several restaurants, gym, pool, atm and shops (souvenirs, jewelry, etc).
The staff was very friendly and attentive.
The only down side was that, in the first day the room was very clean, we stayed for 3 days, and as the days went by, the cleaning was getting less impressive. In the first day they just gave us one clean towel, the second day they did not add a new toilet paper in the bathroom and in the third day, the mug that was used, was not cleaned up.

We also had some problems in the reception bar, the waitress didn't know much english and we tried to order 4 times, before getting our drinks.

Besides those small things, our stay was good.

My family chose to stay at this hotel for its proximity to the airport as well as their airport shuttle service. We weren't expecting much, just something simple yet comfortable but we were bludgeoned by our terrible experience at this poor excuse of a hotel. I could only describe Le Passage as a sleazier version of the hotel from The Shining. The tacky design choices and the flickering hallway lights could have been somewhat tolerated though, but what greeted us in our hotel room was truly horrifying.

Room
As soon as we opened the door, the smell of rotting fruit hit us (but this was already something of an improvement because the first room they assigned to us smelled like cigarettes, despite being a non-smoking room). The carpet looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in years, as there were some dust piles by the corners, and there were some questionable stains on some parts of the walls. What really made my skin crawl, however, was the bathroom. There was black mold everywhere. It was so bad that I felt dirtier after showering. The toilet also still had a wad of tissue paper in it, as if the cleaning staff didn't even bother to check.

Food
I wanted to hope that the restaurant food would at least be good (all the other hotels we stayed at had amazing food), but again, I was sorely disappointed. I ordered their kebab set for dinner, and what they gave me was very burnt and dry pieces of meat. Their breakfast food wasn't as bad, just stale and bland. I ended up ordering my other meals from outside restaurants through Otlob.

Staff
As for the staff, I get that most staff at all the hotels in the world would want tips for their services, but the Le Passage staff could have made that a little less obvious. We were shepherded to our rooms in a rush, and they weren't very gentle about anything they said. They reminded me a bit of all the aggressive sellers in the Egyptian souks I've been to, but what made them a bit worse was the way they assumed my family was Chinese. This happened when they dropped my family as well as some other hotel residents off at the airport. One of the staff had been given a tip in Yuan, so he went to my dad and asked to exchange it for dollar. He didn't even bother to ask my dad if he was Chinese first, he just outright asked for some dollars.

I honestly don't understand how this hotel could have such high reviews in Trip Advisor, so I'll just go ahead and assume that they paid for those good reviews.

I was book into this hotel by my travel company and while the location is convenient to the airport and avoids the pitfalls of Cairo traffic, I am definitely recommending that they never book me here again. Yes, I know it was raining today and traffic was impossible that is no reason to treat people like cattle. First off the hotel bus left not quite at the door so that I was forced to deal with my luggage by myself and drag them several feet in the rain. There security machine was not working so I was refused entrance to the hotel and led by staff still pulling my own luggage in the rain to another room and told to load my luggage by myself in the machine and unload it myself and take it back in the rain to the entrance where the guards stood in the doorway having a conversation with each other until I made a noise and they moved. Still unaided I went to the registration desk where all the clerk said was reservation?? Got my room still unaided with my luggage and proceeded to head for the elevators when one man offered to show me to my room but made no indications he was interested in helping me with my luggage, so I dismissed him rather angrily and made my way to my room having to traverse a hallway lined with damp pool towels supposedly on the executive floor. Went to dinner where a young man said papers and proceeded to tell me my free breakfast was downstairs. I said I wanted dinner and he said you pay yes, like I expected not to pay. I told him I would pay and eventually I had a lovely dinner. What a struggle for service!!! If you didn’t want me as a guest fine say so and I would have moved on. This whole experience has left a bitter taste and on my 74th birthday!

Hilariously bad. Our experience of ONE night was as follows:

The first room smelt unclean. Following discussions with the 'concierge', we were upgraded to a 'Deluxe Room,' which was a carbon copy of the original, minus the smell and plus a 'garden view'

Decided to relax by the lovely pool. Unfortunately what we were faced with is what can only be described as decanted Nile River water. We later found out the pool was out of use. But no matter! The staff offered us fruit and sweets - good luck swimming in that.

Next up was the shower facilities: "No hot water sir, out of order," was repeated time and time again by the front room staff like myself and my now-weather companion slowly lost the will to live.

Abandoning all hope of a pool and basic washing facilities, we proceeded to explore the table tennis and snooker options. Alas, due to 'weather,' both options were out of use. If only these activities could be enjoyed inside.

As we finally begin to give up, the wifi goes down and does not come on again until the early hours of the morning.

Upon check-out, the front desk staff attempted to charge us for two beers and some nuts from the room minibar. Given the above explanation, you can draw your own conclusions on our eventual response.

Le Passage calls it's self an oasis of relaxation

We were shifted to this hotel by Egypt Air following the cancellation of the flight the day before. We were not notified by Egypt Air of the change until nearly check out time from the Hilton Heliopolis where Smart Tours had arranged lodging. The first thing we noticed was the pervasive smell of smoke in the lobby and in our room. The room itself was more typical of a one or two star hotel and had apparently not been occupied for some time. The meals were barely adequate with much less variety than was offered in other hotels we visited. The only bright spot was the staff who were friendly and helpful.

Peace oasis in the Cairo cheating world!
If you don’t have budget to take a room and you need to spend hours before your flight, pls, come here, you can enjoy the hotel facilities for free, have a good buffet dinner for 23$ without any drinks, for the drinks you have to pay extra, and enjoy a coffee with a nice pasty in the lobby!

There is a free shuttle bus, but if you come by car it will cost you around 100 egyptian pounds.

Pls, be informed, that the Hotel accepts dollars but gives you a change in egyptian pounds.

Dear Mr Ahmed (Reception), thank you for welcoming me, for your kind and attention! You are a face of the hotel!

We were initially taken aback by the rude shock of the antiviral disinfectant shower at the entrance. However check in was smooth and courteous. The porters were polite and our late dinner was truly excellent. We had a short stay (transit) but were convinced to come back and have a proper stay of at least 2 nights to really enjoy the experience.
