The Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino is celebrated for its prime location and historical charm, offering guests easy access to nearby attractions and a vibrant mix of historic elegance and modern amenities. The hotel's cleanliness and spacious rooms receive high marks, although there are occasional mentions of smoke odors and outdated decor.
While the professional staff and diverse dining options are highlights, some guests have encountered slow service. Despite this, the hotel's overall value and picturesque gardens alongside a swimming pool are consistently appreciated.

Detailed Reviews
Well located in the upscale Zamalek area of Cairo and not far from the Cairo Antiquities Museum as well as the US Embassy, it makes for a comfortable location in Cairo. The upper level rooms in the two towers offer views of the Nile. The main part of the hotel between the two towers is a former palace that was built for the grand opening of the Suez Canal, to house the invited European royalty. Today that part is home to reception, restaurants (about 13), shops, swimming pool and yes, a casino and more. The hotel has been operated by Marriott since the 1970’s and is good a Marriott as any we have seen in the USA and around the world. The service was superb and the amenities were excellent.

Despite being weary of travel and hotel stays during the current pandemic conditions, the staff at the Cairo Marriott has done a great job maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards to make the guest feel safe and comfortable. The housekeeping crew (and namely Ahmed Ramadan) took extra care cleaning our room to these new standards and was very polite and professional. The hotel kept hand sanitizers within reach everywhere and took care of maintaining social distancing and capacity requirements at dining establishments for safety. Thank you for a great experience during a challenging time. Will be back!

I stayed in this Marriott hotel for seven nights. This building was a former palace with lovely gardens and architecture. There are two large towers either side of the palace Zamalek and Gezira. The hotel is in a great location, there are a number of shops restaurants and cafes close by. The check-in was a bit slow due to the high number of guests checking in at the same time. This may have been because Ramadan had just finished and was followed by a four day public holiday.
After a busy day sightseeing, one of my favourite things to do was to go straight down to the pool and sit in the lounge chair and order a Egyptian beer (Stella) and a club sandwich.
I believe the hotel are renovating the rooms. Unfortunately, my room in Zamalek Tower (934) wasn’t one of the renovated rooms. The bathroom is looking very tired. One of my pet peeves is a bath/shower with a clingy shower curtain, which this bathroom had. There was a small mini bar in the room with chocolates and drinks. I asked if they could empty the mini bar so I could use it to store water.
The most important part of the room the bed it was a comfortable queen size bed with four large pillows. Housekeeping was excellent.I was tipping housekeeping E£20 every 2nd to 3rd day.
After a few days I needed to do some laundry but I didn’t want to pay the outrageous Marriott prices. Just outside the hotel there’s a number of laundromats that will do your washing for half the price. Instead of paying over E£1200 paid E£160 for 17 items
Overall I would stay here again and I recommend it to my family and friends, due to the superb location and neighbourhood.

I stayed here four nights on a work trip. The location was convenient as many of my meetings were in Zamalek and I could walk to some. The hotel is in a historic palace with stunning architectural designs but inside it doesn’t quite live up to that promise. Although there are always some 4-5 staff at the reception the wait time is long. And when you arrive at 1am, that is particularly annoying. The guy who checked me in didn’t bother explaining where the elevator is or on what floor my room is, so I had to go back and ask him for directions. The hotel is huge, so it can take a while to get to your room. My room was quite cosy with a balcony, the heating worked well, bed was comfy, desk a good size and wifi also worked fine. But then the number for in room dining is nowhere to be found and the „all services“ button on the phone goes nowhere. I ate at the Asian restaurant twice and the food there was very good. The coffee in the bakery was also good and they sell fresh fruit as well. For printing they have a business center which is a bit out of date but works fine and charge per page is 10EGP. I also tried out the spa and the steam didn’t work, only one jacuzzi jet was working, and the massage I had was too strong. I asked my masseuse several times to reduce the pressure but no luck. She also stood and watched as I dressed/undressed which I found unprofessional. Despite these issues, I suppose it‘s still a good option to stay at in Cairo but I was not impressed by the overall standard of service.

I love this hotel. the location is great right on the Nile and close to the museum, opera house, and the Zamalek district. The staff is super helpful and cheerful. Mohammad abd Elwahed our room service attendant was super helpful whenever we needed anything. The guest service team was very knowledgeable about all the tours and local options available. I also highly recommend the Egyptian Nights restaurant by the pool. Near by you will also find many restaurants within walking distance including authentic Egyptian food at Abou El Sid and Zooba restaurants.

The place is beautiful and very hystoric. As a matter of fact is one of the most beautiful vintage hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms are ok but the rest of the building, the decor, the items, the furnitute, everything were STUNNING. Shame about the POOR customer service. Too many people(staff) but no co-ordination or supervision for a 5star level. We have had several problems about things that were missing in our room after the cleaning service and in order to have them delivered it took ages and I also had talk to different people. Too many managers/supervisors but the process of solving an issue is long!! We paid 270Euros for a standard room per night but the service we've received overall it was way below average. Due to this fact I would never stay there again.

My brother and I booked 2 nights in connected rooms, namely rooms 1152 & 1154. We checked-in evening of February 2nd 2021 at 10:30 pm
Around 11:30 pm we heard a fight in A third room (1156), which is also connected to ours through a door. There were swear words, threats and what appeared to be beating sounds and screams between a man and a woman. Hitting, verbal abuse, clearly unlawful manners.
It was so clear we could hear it in our own room. We called hotel security who claim they have checked on the room and found nothing.
The fighting then stopped, the noises did not. Phone calls inviting friends/other people, slamming doors, loud music, which eventually turned into a big party. From the noise, we could tell it’s 8-10 people in a room. Which is, I’m assuming, against policy, especially during a pandemic.
6 calls to the reception, last one we made at 6am! Including reactions from the security such as, I quote:” We stood in front of the room and heard nothing.”
The whole night we could hear loud music, partying and chanting. Not a minute of sleep we got.
I met with Mr. Samir, the night shift manager around 5-5:30 am, where I demanded an immediate checkout and full refund, to which he responded, that he will manage the noise, and suggested to move us to another quiet room for the night. Move US and not THEM! Move us not stop the party! Refusing to change rooms, he promised to file a report to the manager the following day, promising to have a discussion in the morning to handle the incident.
We slept 7:00am (when the noise stopped), woke up at 9:00am and I met the day manager, Mr. Abdelkerim at 11:00am the following day.
Mr. Abdelkarim was polite and apologetic, offered to waive two nights of our stay (out of three nights), as well as the overnight parking fee, and an upgrade for the next visit (there will definitely be no next visit). I insisted on my full refund. I will not pay for a service that I did not obtain. I also refused for the hotel to pay for my parking, I pay for the service that I receive.
During this discussion, Mr. Abdelkerim contacted the higher management twice to deliver my demand, which was refused. So, I ended up paying for one room, one night!

+1
We arrived yesterday with a tour group. We have spent one of the three nights we are planning to spend at this hotel. We have had a very positive experience with the staff who have been friendly and accommodating. This includes the check-in process and how quickly and smoothly they got us all checked in.
Our guest room is quite pleasant with comfortable bedding and mattress. Each queen-sized bed has four comfortable pillows. The furnishings are very attractive. There are two closets with lights that turn on when you open the door. There is a mini bar which we are not interested in using. Above the mini bar is a coffee maker. For people who need a refrigerator, it’s important to know that there is no refrigerator in the guest room, nor is there a microwave oven. There is plenty of lighting in the room. If you need to plug in your phone, there is an outlet at the desk.
This beautifully decorated property is quite large. It has indoor and outdoor dining areas. The swimming pool is very large. We have not been able to find a hot tub at the pool. The gym is quite large and contains exercise equipment, free weights, and yoga room with mats. We have not used the casino, but if you want to use it, you have to register with your passport. If you need a snack, you can find a small snack shop on the premises. There is also a variety of stores to shop in.
My only complaint about this place is the water in the shower. While I was taking a shower both yesterday and today, the water kept changing from hot to cold, back to hot, and then to cold again. I will still give this property a five-star review because of its overall appeal.

I love historic hotels. The central part of the Marriot Omar Khayyam is a palace which was specially built by Khedive Ismail to receive Empress Eugenie and her entourage when they visited Cairo for the inauguration of the Suez Canal in 1869. You can’t get more historic than that and the hotel oozes its history from every pore.
From the moment I checked in the experience was palatial. I was given an upgrade to a Nile View Room on a high floor and offered a complimentary late check-out as my flight was departing in the early hours. The room itself was scrupulously clean and tidy and kept that way by the wonderful Mohamed Mosa and his team. Each day my personal effects were laid out for me on a cotton flannel and when my sink plug appeared to be malfunctioning, I returned to my room to find an apologetic plumber fixing the problem without me ever having to report it. Thank you Mohamed – and plumber.
The public areas, especially in the palace are superb and staff throughout the hotel were excellent. Everyone seemed to manage to pull off that rare combination of being friendly and efficient but also unobtrusive. The garden promenade was a delight to sit in of an evening with an extensive [and reasonably priced] menu of food and drink and the welcoming staff at Harry’s Pub provided me with shelter on a cool evening. My only disappointment with the whole stay was that the very historic Saraya Gallery Restaurant was closed for renovations.
The area surrounding the hotel on Zamalek Island is quite beautiful and warrants exploring. Green and packed with colonial-style buildings, it feels very safe and family oriented with lots of schools, nurseries and sports clubs in the vicinity – and some wonderful antique shops.
On the evening of my departure, the reception booked me into the hotel spa where I was provided with a locker and towels and had access to all the facilities, meaning I left the hotel as fresh as a daisy for my flight home.
Five stars, highly recommended and a big thankyou to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

We had a 10 days tour in Egypt all perfectly organized and conducted by Eagle Travel - from Cairo. Marriott Hotel was our option. Perfectly located in an ''island'' where the embassies are, and close to everything. I do not recommend staying in hotels next to the Pyramids because there is nothing to do in that area in the evenings, and is a bit far from the city centre. Exception goes for the Marriott Mena House - this hotel is located in a quite large land, with amazing gardens and THE view from the pyramids and the sphinx. Cairo night life has a lot to offer for all tastes and likes. We went on to Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria, etc. The trip could not being more perfect and well arranged, with a Portuguese speaker guide. From pickup at the airport to to drop off at the final day, all went beyond well. As for restaurants, here are two suggestions that are for different tastes: Andrea Mariouteya - outdoors and indoors close to the pyramids. Amazing authentique food and large quantities. Seat outside. At the entrance we are able to see the famous and delicious egyptian bread being made to go straight to your tables. Second option: the Sequoia; modern atmosphere and beautiful crowd of all ages, facing the Nile. Nice music, amazing food and service. Oh, and if you spot a vegetable vendor while driving around, I suggest to stop and try one of the purple carrot; juice and and sweeter than the regular one. Most importantly, book Eagle Travel via your travel agent. Cannot go wrong.

I was a single traveler and charged extra due to my status (as all hotels in Egypt charged extra for singles), but it was a nominal extra fee (not double the price). I had a queen bed. The rooms were very large and mine had a balcony overlooking the restaurant area. Nobody complained about small rooms in my group and we had about 20 people. The hotel itself is amazing and has everything, including touring the old palace. You shouldn't be taken advantage of, but I think you'd be satisfied with any room you are assigned.
I could not locate an email address for that specific hotel. Depending upon your location, you may call 1-800-1927-1927, or search the Web for "email address of Cairo Marriott concierge customer service" The toll-free number is +25100200-8004326626 but I do not know if that is for a specific region or country. I was part of a tour group and all arrangements were made for me. It was a most exhilarating three weeks!
yes it can be arranged, please contact the hotel directly and provide more details.
Suzanne: They certainly do! My review features two photos of the brick ovens and the charming ladies who tended the bakery. When travelling, I bring balloons and toothpick flags of each country I visit. I gave them some of each. They offered me a loaf of bread, but the tour company fed our group WAY too much. I stayed at Cairo Marriott at the beginning and end of a three-week tour. Enjoy! I certainly did.
Seems everyone has answered this for you. Good luck
