Le Riad Hotel de Charme offers a culturally rich experience in the heart of Old Cairo, with guests frequently applauding its well-furnished suites and spotless conditions. The rooftop restaurant is a highlight, offering both splendid views and delectable dining. While the vibrant location is popular for its proximity to nightlife, some guests caution that the lively atmosphere can intrude on sleep. The service receives high marks for its professionalism, but opinions on value are divided, with some criticisms pointing to noise-related sleep disturbances despite the hotel's efforts to mitigate this with earplugs.

The themed interior of each room was exceptionally atmospheric, with a bedroom, bath and toilet, as well as two other rooms, all of which were of a higher quality than I had imagined. My favorite is the lighting and the large and luxurious shower room! It was also nice to see the water coming out.
Breakfast is available in three varieties, and you can choose whatever you like, which adds to the fun.
The Check-out was at noon, so I could say I'd go out in the morning and take a shower when I got back, and then it was a flight, which was really helpful.
If you're going to bed early, be even more careful, as late nights can be quite lively due to the location (high-performance earplugs are available!).

If you ever go to Cairo again, this is the hotel you want to come back to.

Very special hotel located in the most characteristic area of Cairo, very lively, colorful and full of life. The rooms are all huge suites, equipped with Wi-Fi and all comforts, bathrobe and soft terry towels, as well as disposable slippers. Upon your arrival you will find with a delicious welcome present. All the staff are of an efficiency and courtesy never seen before and are able to satisfy every request with kindness, courtesy and dedication. The rooms and common areas are spotless. It has a characteristic bar on the mezzanine floor and a roof that houses the restaurant, where you can have lunch and dinner and where breakfast is served, offered in 3 options: continental, Egyptian and a third that I can't remember. The common areas are so characteristic that they arouse amazement in every customer who enters.
The area is very lively as it is in the nerve center of the city. Which will allow you to taste a little of local life. If you are sensitive to noise, I recommend you bring earplugs, in case you find yourself staying in the area during some festive event that could last into the night. Highly recommended. I hope to be able to return soon. Ps. The desserts are crazy

Ancient and charming looking on the outside, and absolutely stunning on the inside! This 5 star boutique hotel surpassed my expectations! The location is amazing, centrally located in the heart of Old Cairo and steps away from the market/bazaar. The interior of the hotel is beautiful down to every last detail. There is a lounge/tea house on the second level and a rooftop restaurant as well. The restaurant Zeeyara had very good food and views of the area. My favorite dish was the Chicken Mesahab and my husband loved the grits pigeon soup. Their breakfasts are also authentically deliciously. We stayed in the Calligraphy Suite, which was huge! There was a living room, drawing room, massive luxury bathroom, and a king bed. The staff were friendly and helpful. Extremely clean and well kept hotel. Because of the location, yes, expect there to be music and street noise into the late hours of the night, but that is part of the charm of staying at this unique hotel in the heart of Cairo!! Earplugs are provided but we didn’t use them because we enjoyed the surroundings.

What is the essential feature of a hotel room, whether in a 2-star or 5-star hotel?
May we sleep.
This basic service is not provided in this hotel.
Rooms overlook the main street of Khan al Khalili, with venues blasting music until 3am.
Out of 3 nights stay, we could only sleep 1 night.

Sure the location is quaint amidst the hubbub of a market, but if it didn't allow me to sleep, I certainly can't recommend it.
Our room was very spacious, with an entrance hall, a walk-in closet, a bathroom and a bedroom: many spaces, but not very functional, furnished with old furniture (not antique, just old).
The services offered are very basic, as is the breakfast.
The hotel is neither a luxury boutique hotel nor a charming hotel, it is more similar to a guesthouse with very large mini-apartments.
The beds are comfortable, the towels are of excellent quality, the light sockets on the bedside table are a fake power strip.

The prices they publish are ridiculous: with those prices in Cairo you really go to a 5 star hotel along the Nile, not to a noisy hotel in the market.
If your agency offers you an upgrade at this hotel, refuse it: it is definitely a hoax.
You risk not sleeping and not enjoying a good stay in Cairo

Le Riad

Horrible night – way too much noise!

We booked a week of family travel (two adults, three children) through a travel agency, and upon arrival in Cairo we went to the hotel “Le Riad – charming hotel”. Located in a very touristy and lively area of the old town, the hotel has an old-fashioned charm that is pleasant. Moreover, the hotel restaurant on the roof terrace is very good.

But let’s go back to the hotel proper: we had two “suites” allocated, the 5th (2nd floor) and the 9th (3rd, just above): an entrance with an extra bed, an office, a bathroom and a bedroom. Beyond the oddity of the sign above the toilet, which says not to put toilet paper in the flush (what we assumed means to put it in the trash??), the big RED FLAG, what should have caught our attention instantly, are the earplugs located on the table of the entrance of the room. When we saw them, we asked the person from the hotel who accompanied us if there was any noise, and she told us that yes, a lot... We remained a little cautious, but we were tired of the trip so we didn’t pick up.

It was only then that we realized the problem: the street noise (music in full, music festival type in Paris if you know) was really very loud, entering mostly through the window of the office. But since the said office has NO DOOR, nor the bedroom for that matter, the word circulates throughout the “suite”. So if you don’t mind sleeping with earplugs, I guess it’s OK. Personally, I don’t like, and I consider that the primary reason for a hotel is to sleep well... For the record, there is also the smoke detector located just above the bed, which emits flashes of light every thirty seconds. And finally, if you turn on the air conditioning, the chandelier full of glassware starts to make noise by colliding .

I imagine that to sleep well in this hotel, you really have to have a lead sleep.

Since I have just a normal sleep, I asked to change rooms, even for a smaller one – I just wanted a quiet room... The hotel staff told me that all the other rooms were also noisy. They ended up moving me from the 5th to the 13th (4th floor, two floors at the vertical of the 5th), the noise was a little less loud but still very present.

So I definitely do not recommend this hotel. We were supposed to stay two nights in this hotel, and again a third at the end of our stay. We changed hotels after the first night, having slept very badly, and will not set foot there again. In any case not until the owner has invested in double glazed windows (the current windows are simple glazing and outdated, some leaving light between them...).

Avoid it.

Delightful hotel in the historic center on the famous El Moez Street, the main street of the historic center. Exquisite and very helpful staff. The room is a real apartment with a corridor, a huge bathroom with a huge built-in shower cabin, then there is a welcoming living room with sofas and teapot, a walk-in wardrobe and a bedroom with a huge bed, a splendid balcony overlooking from the 4th floor on El moez Street. On the attic there is a splendid Egyptian restaurant with views and excellent cuisine. The street is very chaotic 24 hours a day but it immerses you in real local life. We happened to be on the last day of Ramadan and the consequent beginning of the 5 days of celebration... And the celebration continued 24 hours a day. The hotel also provided earplugs for sleeping but they were not of much use due to the deafening but engaging noise... Splendid discovery

Absolutely Georgia’s building. The architecture is so intricate and detailed. Unique and beautiful rooms. Authentic experience! This beautiful hotel is in the heart of old Cairo. It is within walking distance from the shopping district Khan Khalili. If you want to feel like you are part of the Egyptian local people and experience what they experience come here. So much to do just within walking distance from the hotel. I can walk out and get a fresh juice or cheap water or candy or gifts within a few feet from the hotel. The hotel is great. Every room has a different Egyptian theme and very well decorated. The rooms are so big they are like small apartments. The hotel staff is so nice. They do everything they can to make sure you are happy and comfortable. They quickly accommodated us for any changes. The hotel has a 24hr security guard at the door and another man at the front desk. I always felt safe. They even have a restaurant at the roof! We had breakfast here every mornings breakfast was so delicious and authentic. You can get a classic American continental, a classic Egyptian breakfast or a country Egyptian breakfast! Everything was so delicious and they bring out so much food. They also have fresh juices and coffee. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a unique and authentic Egyptian experience! We stayed here twice on our trip!! Tip: if you want to each good shawarma in this area go to ZeZo!!! It’s a 5 min walk!

This is a beautiful hotel, well named as is indeed full of charm. The bedrooms are huge and so well furnished as well as luxuriousl bathroom and even office in our suite.
The rooftop restaurant was actually the best food we had while in Egypt and indeed we ate all 3 meals during our one day and night’s stay.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the cost was a fraction of some of the ‘top’ chain hotels in Cairo.
However, a big negative was the noise during the night (it was a Saturday night during the holiday period), even the earplugs didn’t block it out.

If you are sensitive to noise you will need to ask for a room not facing the busy streets (the music ended at 2am and the Muzzenin started at 5am!)

The visuals of this hotel are quaint with interesting decor, multiple rooms in each of the suites which are nicely appointed with embroidered sheets and decent toiletries. BUT it is the nosiest hotel we have EVER stayed in. Location is in the bustling bazaar area, however the biggest issue is the coffee shops/hookah bars that blare Egyptian club music all night. If you are on the fourth level, you get the bonus of hearing chairs from the restaurant above scrape across the ceiling. There is zero sound insulation in the building from the outside din. The ear plugs provided are no help. If you like to stay up all hours enjoying night life, then you will be ok. If you prefer a decent nights rest to see the sights during the day, this place should be avoided at all costs. Staff are very pleasant and do try hard, but there is nothing to be done about the noise from the adjacent businesses. It is a significant issue.

The hotel offers very nice and large oriental rooms, which are well equipped. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. At breakfast you can choose from three options, offering something for everyone; we usually ordered a mix. The location in the middle of the bazaar is a great starting point for anyone who likes to go to a bazaar. This means that access for taxis is restricted, which is not a disadvantage, just needs to be taken into account. Walking to the entrances/exits is always interesting in a bazaar. The noise in the evening and at night is very loud, but it was not a problem for us to sleep. A nice hotel for those who like oriental and in the middle of the bazaar.

Not a hotel for those who are sensitive to noise and who like to wait for the (Uber) taxi or want to get off right outside the door. WiFi is very weak, if you depend on it, you're better off buying a data card.
