All in All 5/10! Firstly, if you are used to Asian Hospitality - Please Don’t Expect it in Korea ! Even in the Marriott - there is No “GoodMorning, or Can I help You, or What can I Do for you Platinum member”. Just sad faces - and people going about doing their thing. Like you are Invisible! No check-in joy, no upgrades (even for platinum members), NONE of the wait staff ever greet you or smile or welcome you! Don’t get me wrong - Everything is prompt and professional- but don’t expect greetings, concern, smile or care. Rooms are clean and average. Breakfast is Not worth UD$30. Location is Great. All in All a 5/10 hotel. You can get Much Much better rooms at Lotte Hotel, or Intercontinental or Grand Hyatt

Spent 2 weeks at this hotel with 2 adults and two tweens in a room with 2 double beds. Also spent several weeks at the Courtyard Times Square and and a week in Courtyard Suwon in rooms with two double beds so this review will compare and contrast all three hotels. The location at CY Namdaemun can’t be beat, it is a short walk to several different subways lines and Seoul Station making it a perfect location to explore Seoul and the surrounding region. It is also in walking distance of several major tourists sites in Seoul and is right across the street from the famed Naedaemun Market. All three hotels have double beds large enough to comfortably sleep two adults and the rooms are large enough not to feel cramped. As Platinum Elite the whole family had the buffet breakfast at all three hotels at the Momo cafe which included western and Korean dishes and all three hotels had an excellent breakfast. The wife and I also enjoyed the executive lounge at all three hotels which included a nice variety of western and Korean foods and desserts. It also included basic top shelf liquors, wine and a single draft beer (Kloud) so I brought in my own Korean craft beer when we used the lounge (craft beer is now ubiquitous in Korean convenience stores). The service and English ability of the staff in all three hotels is phenomenal! The Times Square CY had been our go to Hotel in Seoul over the past several years and we recently stayed there as well. While slightly more expensive than the Namdaemun location of late and in a less touristy location, it’s biggest benefit is being located in the Times Square Mall. If using public transportation and the weather is bad you can use the underground shopping mall that connects the train/subway station to reach the hotel/mall. The Suwon CY is new and a great hotel in an up and coming area but is located far away from tourist attractions to include the ones in Suwon (but there is an aquarium right next to the hotel). There is a subway stop located about a 10 minute walk away that you can take towards Seoul or after switching trains, towards Suwon station. However, if price is a factor, it is consistently the most expensive of the three probably because it caters to business travelers but the lounge is the least crowded. At the other two hotels the lounge can be quite crowded on weekends but they run two sessions for access.

Platinum elite or higher:  Free Executive Lounge Access (+1 guest), 45000 KRW for extra guest above 14 years old (25000 KRW for children under 14).  Free breakfast in lounge (+1 guest and children under 12). Welcome gift of 500 point per stay.  <Feature> Hardware: Room condition is good. (Should be much better if there be tower rack next to washbasin. There are enough closets but should be much better if there be more shelves in it.) Parking space is limited and could be full during weekends (otherwise, outsourced parking lot should be used - about 5 minutes by walk).  Software: The quality of happy hour at Executive Lounge and the dishes for inroom dining are good. The quality of breakfast at MoMo cafe is beyond expectation. (normally, the charge even for Platinum elite or higher for breakfast at MoMo cafe is 34000 KRW and/or 25000 KRW for children below 14)

Again, I had reserved a deluxe room with tower view and requested high floor (not confirmed). Upon arrival on a Saturday afternoon, I was informed that the highest floor available was 11th (from 22). When I asked whether it had Tower View, the answer was no. According to her all rooms were taken by long-term staying guests. When I complained heavily, also saying that next time I would be staying in Yeongdongpo again .... everything went very fast. All of a sudden was a room available on the 22nd floor and I did get the Tower View. May I mention that I am a Marriott Lifetime Platinum Member and still have to go through that???

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It is right across from the market and super accessible to other attractions. The view of seoul tower from the window was great! The room was clean and as described. We had access to the club level which made the stay pleasant as well.

We love this hotel and have stayed here several times. Staff are friendly and efficient. Location is fantastic. Views are stunning (the market, the historic gate, Namsan). Food and beverage in the executive lounge are excellent. (But, echoing another reviewer, please bring back Coke Light or Coke Zero!) Breakfast is varied and delicious. Overall, the best choice of places to stay in Seoul (and we've tried many)! On our most recent stay, we were in the Namdaemun Suite, which is truly special. We've never even seen such a big private outdoor space anywhere in our travels! For a special occasion, it's worth the splurge! Special thanks to Erin Kim, Front Office Manager, for her leadership and personal touch that make staying at this hotel extra memorable.

The only time in my business career I have written to the manager at the end to praise certain members of staff. The service at this hotel and in the meetings facilities is exceptional. Excellent food, snacks, the room was clean, good sized and the staff go the extra mile to make it welcoming. Had a view right over the Namdaemun Gate and could barely hear the traffic.

Modern feel. I stayed in both a 2 queen bed room, and a 1 king bed room. Both have high ceilings and modern layout. The beds are are super COMFORTABLE!!! The food at the MoMo buffet is delicious for breakfast AND dinner. If you have it included in your rate, great! If you have to pay, it is not as expensive as other hotel buffets in Seoul, and the food is of a high quality. There is no pool, which means there will be fewer families visiting for a local stay-cation. The guests are more local couples, or travelers. The staff is wonderfully courteous, fluent in English, and have sincere professionalism. Their smiles are welcoming, and they have the effect of relieving your stress just from their kind manner. The fitness facilities are more than adequate. There is a 24 hour convenience store (GS25) located right next to the hotel, for any urgent needs or cravings. The executive lounge on the top floor has yummy food offerings. For the evening happy hour they had several bottled spirits for you to make your own cocktail concoctions. There was a small selection of salads (pasta, vegetable, fruit, lettuce), as well as fried rice, fried giant shrimp, Korean bulgoki, and broccoli soup. The executive club lounge has 2 coffee machines, so if there's a line in front of one of them, peek around to find the second one near the windows! ONE COMPLAINT: about the Executive Club Lounge. There are NO DIET DRINKS! No coke zero, no Pepsi max, no coke light!!! Nearly every executive lounge I've visited around the world has at least some sort of sugar-free diet cola, as many westerners prefer this drink while on holiday. Especially diabetics cannot drink the normal sugary drinks. So having a few diet colas in the refrigerator would be much appreciated. Other than the absence of coke zero, the executive lounge was as good as many others I've visited.

The hotel is located neat Namdaemun, a short walk to the subway station or even Myeongdong area. Breakfast and happy hours were excellent. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The business corner is a very big plus, especially during a business trip.

This was a very good stay in a decent neighborhood. Only problem was that I could hear a lot of noise from the adjoining rooms (above? below? difficult to tell) at nighttime. Depending on what you want, the location isn't too bad. Namdaemun market is right there, and Myeongdong is about a 15 minute walk away. I wish that the subway was closer (about a 5-8 min walk to Hoehyeon metro station), but this is not a big deal unless it is the frigid Korean winter (or raining). There is a cozy cafe in a historical building in front of the hotel, and other restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Check-in was OK and all staff seemed competent and friendly. Since I arrived before the official check-in time, I had to wait a while to enter the room, but they checked me in and stored my baggage for me which was convenient. The hotel decor is nice and modern. I had a "Larger guest room" with King bed. For what I paid, I wish that the room was larger. The size was just ok. The room seemed clean and the bed was very comfortable. I liked that they had different types of pillows. The furniture was functional and just OK, not great. I liked the photo art they had in the room. AC/heating was responsive, which was great. The in-room coffee was good. Free bottled water and small fridge were convenient. The large TV had many foreign channels, which was quite nice. Wifi was good. The large bathroom sort of made up for the not-so-large room. Definitely plenty of space for your things on the sink. Nice shower and bathtub, and good shampoo, etc, as well. I liked the soft towels. The main problem of the stay was that at night, at a certain spot unfortunately near the bed, I could hear a lot of noise of people talking and yelling. The voices were echoing, and it was difficult to tell where it came from. I couldn't tell if it was hotel guests or outside noise. This made it difficult to fall asleep. Checking out on the last day was quick and easy. Overall a good stay. I could consider coming back here. If the hotel fixed the noise problem and better soundproofed the rooms, this would be a great hotel.
