Again, I had reserved a deluxe room with tower view and requested high floor (not confirmed). Upon arrival on a Saturday afternoon, I was informed that the highest floor available was 11th (from 22). When I asked whether it had Tower View, the answer was no. According to her all rooms were taken by long-term staying guests. When I complained heavily, also saying that next time I would be staying in Yeongdongpo again .... everything went very fast. All of a sudden was a room available on the 22nd floor and I did get the Tower View. May I mention that I am a Marriott Lifetime Platinum Member and still have to go through that???
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It is right across from the market and super accessible to other attractions. The view of seoul tower from the window was great! The room was clean and as described. We had access to the club level which made the stay pleasant as well.
We love this hotel and have stayed here several times. Staff are friendly and efficient. Location is fantastic. Views are stunning (the market, the historic gate, Namsan). Food and beverage in the executive lounge are excellent. (But, echoing another reviewer, please bring back Coke Light or Coke Zero!) Breakfast is varied and delicious. Overall, the best choice of places to stay in Seoul (and we've tried many)! On our most recent stay, we were in the Namdaemun Suite, which is truly special. We've never even seen such a big private outdoor space anywhere in our travels! For a special occasion, it's worth the splurge! Special thanks to Erin Kim, Front Office Manager, for her leadership and personal touch that make staying at this hotel extra memorable.
The only time in my business career I have written to the manager at the end to praise certain members of staff. The service at this hotel and in the meetings facilities is exceptional. Excellent food, snacks, the room was clean, good sized and the staff go the extra mile to make it welcoming. Had a view right over the Namdaemun Gate and could barely hear the traffic.
Modern feel. I stayed in both a 2 queen bed room, and a 1 king bed room. Both have high ceilings and modern layout. The beds are are super COMFORTABLE!!! The food at the MoMo buffet is delicious for breakfast AND dinner. If you have it included in your rate, great! If you have to pay, it is not as expensive as other hotel buffets in Seoul, and the food is of a high quality. There is no pool, which means there will be fewer families visiting for a local stay-cation. The guests are more local couples, or travelers. The staff is wonderfully courteous, fluent in English, and have sincere professionalism. Their smiles are welcoming, and they have the effect of relieving your stress just from their kind manner. The fitness facilities are more than adequate. There is a 24 hour convenience store (GS25) located right next to the hotel, for any urgent needs or cravings. The executive lounge on the top floor has yummy food offerings. For the evening happy hour they had several bottled spirits for you to make your own cocktail concoctions. There was a small selection of salads (pasta, vegetable, fruit, lettuce), as well as fried rice, fried giant shrimp, Korean bulgoki, and broccoli soup. The executive club lounge has 2 coffee machines, so if there's a line in front of one of them, peek around to find the second one near the windows! ONE COMPLAINT: about the Executive Club Lounge. There are NO DIET DRINKS! No coke zero, no Pepsi max, no coke light!!! Nearly every executive lounge I've visited around the world has at least some sort of sugar-free diet cola, as many westerners prefer this drink while on holiday. Especially diabetics cannot drink the normal sugary drinks. So having a few diet colas in the refrigerator would be much appreciated. Other than the absence of coke zero, the executive lounge was as good as many others I've visited.…
