The hotel is an a nice location not far from Anguk station(about a five minute walk from exit 6). The check in was very nice and the worker named Ashley Kim was great. Very polite to me an my family and made sure we had a nice room. She gave us a very good impression from the beginning. The rooms... More

I strongly recommend this hotel for family travelers. They offer fully equipped kitchen and a 'clean' timber floored room where your kids can play, crawl, lie down, and even sleep!! I traveled with 1 year old baby. You may be able to guess how hard to have a simple breakfast meal with young kids. But it was not hard at... More

Very convenient location. Rooms are nice and spacious and staff friendly and helpful. I'll be staying here again next time I'm in Seoul I think. One negative point is that there is no direct bus from Incheon airport - instead you have to catch one to Anguk station, 5-10 minutes walk away. Many of the other hotels in this area... More

We stayed for a week in a studio apartment in January 2016. There were no non-smoking studios available when we checked in, but reception staff reserved us one which was becoming free the next day and moved us then. From the layout of the hotel I suspect that there are only a handful of studio apartments, so this might not... More

Great hotel, easy to find from subway and when arriving in Seoul. Walking distance to everywhere. Breakfast included in cost and was great for us. Staff friendly and could speak basic English and very helpful. Rooms large and comfy.

Stayed for two nights and found the room was spacious and reasonably furnished although the bed was a bit hard & lumpy. More of a serviced apartment than a hotel as there is no room service, but rooms have a kitchenette and a washer/dryer. The gym on the 1st floor is ok and there is an Italian restaurant on the... I Have stayed here on business travel twice this year. And will stay once more this year. Breakfast is brilliant, the rooms are clean and cosy. I am just hoping the pool and rooftop Jacuzzi will be open in December.

Your room is really a suite, with kitchen, living room, bedroom, laundry room, and of course bathroom. All are roomy and efficient. Lots of electrical outlets, too. And CNN in English. Breakfast is provided. You can eat from the buffet or you can order eggs made to your specifications. There are great historic sites, restaurants and shops within walking distance... More

My stay at the Somerset Palace Hotel was fantastic! The staff is very friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed in a room with a king bed and a twin bed. The room was very large. Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
