the guesthouse is at the back of the alley where you find food, florists and souvenirs. we had to ask a local to find it. about the guesthouse, doors are not in good condition, i have a feeling if you pull too hard it will come off in your hands. walls drawings are peeling, i feel the host family could... We were stayed at Geomungo room and it was cleaned and comfy with traditional interior! During that time it was winter season, although we were slept on the floor but the room do provides flooring with heater system to keep us warm! Besides that, the owner of the guest house is helpful and friendly. The location of the guest house... More

N37°34.675' E126°58.848' We were looking for a room in a traditional Korean Guesthouse (Han-Ok) sleeping on the floor Korean-style with a private/en-suite bathroom (not shared). This was a problem, because most Han-Oks do not have rooms with private bathrooms. Most of the time a single room in the house is converted into a shared bathroom. Soriwool solved this problem by... Thru the Hanok Home Stay Information Centre I got to know this place. I planned to stay for only 3 nights, but in the end extended for another night. Besides the perfect location, what make this place so charming are the ambience and the hospitality. It is located in the center of actions and yet away from the hustle and... More

This place has seen better days, but surely not today. I had chosen this place because of the reviews. But it did not live up to the expectation of a warm friendly environment. I was prepared for a simple accommodation but expected either to see other fellow backpackers, family living in the premise or attentive host - i.e. some "soul"... More

Out of six taxis, five of them could not locate the place. The place very run down: the sliding doors seems like falling off each time we opened & closed the doors. The wooden chair collapes when we sit on it. The flooring caves in when my friend was walking to the table & he was injured. We inform the... More

What a lovely traditional experience! Location was very central - within walking distance of the Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong, and the Gyeongbokgung Palace. Yet, it was in a very quiet neighborhood. You almost felt that you are in a little oasis when you step through the doors. The owners were very friendly and personal. They spent a lot of time... For my 4th trip to Korea, I decided to experience something new and booked at Soriwool. And I have not been disappointed. If you are a tourist or visiting some friends, the location is A-MA-ZING. You are right in the middle of these UNESCO sites, right in the action. You will experience things as if you were living in Seoul,... More

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighborhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighborhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
