My daughter and I enjoyed staying in this traditional house on a one-night stopover on our way home from Bali. It was in the middle of the city with so much to see nearby but nice and quiet at night. The traditional Korean breakfast was interesting and fun to try. We did end up grabbing a snack at a delicious...

This place was absolutely beautiful! The location was very close to the Gyeongbuk Palace and is located in a traditional Hanok Village. It was so nice to experience traditional Korean culture and it was a lovely place to stay for the night. I enjoyed myself completely and am hoping to stay there again in the future. The area also has...

Thank you very much Charlotte and Russel! This is the longest and most detailed review I've ever got in last 4+ years and cannot appreciate more for your time and effort to write all this out. Not only I was impressed by your review, but I also learnt again how my guests especially from a totally different cultural base would...

The place offers so much more on different levels the stay itself was a unique experience. Located secretly within the alley the traditional architect embraces you with that heavy whiff of ancient Korean legacy. The wooden structure, traditional ceramics the beautiful tip of the eaves bent at such graceful angle just seem to instantly relieve you of all burden. And...

Thank you for the wonderful review. We do not pursue and cannot achieve perfection on every aspect, but this traditional house may present some different and meaningful experiences to those who seek for such values over hotel services. Yes, we hold cultural events like house concerts or small art exhibitions and hope more guests get a chance to witness this...

This house locate in the mid of alley and is near to the west gate of gyeongbokgung palace. It will be good for a group of 10 pax to rent the entire house. The host, KJ is awesome at recommending eatery places and surrounding place of interest.

Thank you for your review. Yeah, as suggested, I added the entire house private option for larger groups and that would be a good option for future guests.

We stayed here for Chuseok weekend and had a lot of fun. KJ had green tea with us using the cool old set that they had available. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and new. The floor mats were surprisingly comfortable as well. It's next to the place near a lot of restaurants and near the subway...

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! =) Yes, whenever I have some time with guests, it is my great pleasure to share some time with some great teas. It is also great to know that the thin yet comfy mats were good match for you. Some guests even bought it back home haha.

I stayed there a night with my friend. The accommodation is lovely and authentic to the traditional Korean Hanoks. The rooms are very clean and well kept and fresh, I felt very safe and comfortable sleeping in our room. Furthermore, each room has it's own bathroom, which was much appreciated! I currently live in a Seoul apartment, so it was...

Thank you Nicola! I know! The former house before this had that problem and it was my primary goal to have a private bathroom per room. Now bathroom conditions even became a strong point. I'm so happy to see your mention regarding it haha. Highly appreciated! No matter how long you've planned to live in Korea, do not delay and...

Staying at 'Sopoong' is the best experience while traveling near Seoul. The accommodation is perfect to stay, and also the host are kind too. Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighborhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighborhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
