Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.

Price was higher than really nice hotels in the neighborhood. It’s super basic. I live in Korea and I aware of non-shower bathrooms, but when I pay good money for a hotel I expect to not pee and shower in the same place. Might good for people staying for extended periods, but if you’re just traveling you can find better for cheaper (on the weekend). I would not stay again. That said, the lady at the front desk was pleasant.

A very friendly place that will go out of their way to help make your stay better. Although the room is small, the standard and cleanliness was perfect. The location is great and the included breakfast was above par. Don't think I've had better value for money.

Positives +super friendly, English speaking management +free water bottles +big room +soft bed +fully equipped kitchenette +near Itaewon station, shops, and restaurants +good location for exploring Seoul Negative -run down (you can tell this place used to be beautiful) -staff barely cleans room (tosses blanket over bed, vacuums, and new towels. That’s it -found mold all over bathroom my first night which the staff promptly saw to cleaning once made aware -heating hard to manage (super hot or super cold) -tiny shower right in front of toilet so you have too pee in a puddle if you go after a shower :/.

rying to find CV residence initially especially after a long flight was pretty tiring and frustrating especially if there are no signs around . Luckily after several attempts, we just look up , - lo and behold the BIG sign on GV residence . The walk up the hill initially was not for those with weak knees or legs especially if you're carrying 2 big luggages . But once there , met up with the concierge , Juinn ( hopefully , I got the name spelt correctly ) , was fantastic , her warmth and hospitality makes you feel at home. No to mention another staff by the name of Seon , as well as the cleaner ahjummas, GV residence , made us feel we're home . The apartment comes with a washer and a kitchen , thoroughly clean.. For muslims , ideal place, as it is close to most of the halal restaurants in Itaewon .

At first, I was a little bit disappointed with GV Residence, but as the week progressed, I found it a great place from which to visit Seoul. The location in the Itaewon area is perfect for visiting this city, close to different city transportation options, close to tourist sites, abundance of food options close to very close by. We were pleased with the residence. The staff were helpful and friendly, The rooms were adequate for us. There was the issue of shower, but that was easily overcome. We would stay at the GV Residence again.
