Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.

Don't hesitate to stay here, you'll get great value for your money! We stayed in the private room and couldn't have asked for more: it was super clean, the bed was really comfortable, we had space for our very big backpacks, a night table, AC, and a window so it had nice natural light. The shared bathrooms are enough, we stayed there many nights and never had to wait to use them. They were also always clean and I saw the staff cleaning them very often. There's also a kitchen you can use. The internet is very reliable. Also, we used their laundry service and it was very well priced, and they worked well and fast. The staff goes above and beyond to help you with anything you may need. They are really friendly and made us feel at home. On top of all that, the location couldn't be better: you'll be staying at the heart of Itaewon, the most touristic neighborhood in Seul, steps away from the best bars, parties, restaurants, and shops. We had the best ice-cream in Asia just down the corner! It's also super easy to get everywhere in Seul from there: you'll be one minute away from the subway station, many bus stops, or an avenue where is very easy to get a taxi. I totally recommend this place! Will stay here again on my next stay in Seul!

The location of this hostel is simply perfect. You’re literally steps away from great places. Best place to stay in Seul, for sure. This neighborhood is vibrant, filled with attractions and hidden gems. There are many restaurants and bars nearby, the street is alive, yet the room was quiet. The staff was helpful, they speak great English and they were warm and welcoming. The rooms are great for the price you pay. And the WiFi was great! I would definitely stay here again. :)

The room was very dirty, specially the walls and the cigarette smell. The building is located in the party street, so if gets very noisy and it’s imposible to sleep properly (clubs stopped playing music by 5:30 am). The shower and the toilet were divided by a glass wall, so it’s possible to see a person defecating when you’re taking a shower. You can’t lock the shower door too. There’re many other options around Itaewon for the same price. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I stayed here for 2 nights and loved the place. I had a private room which is in a suite that has dorm rooms (bunk beds) and all of us share the same shower/toilet. Room is comfortable, common area was quiet, and breakfast area was good, with simple assortment of bread, juice, and eggs to cook (forget about fruit in korea - too expensive to serve). Nice staff. I arrived at midnight and they left key for me. As is the case all over Korea, i had a hard time finding the place and my phone gps did not work. Plan to take a taxi, as even the youtube video is hard to follow.

Check in staff was very friendly, happy to answer any questions. Rooms are very basic but clean. There was aircon in my room. Shower/toilet just down the hallway. Great location if you'd like to be close to the party street. Many many bar/restaurant options nearby. Be mindful that you can hear noise from the bars on a busy saturday night. Big beauty brands shops also within walking distance. Train station 5 min away. Convenience store a minute away. There's a deserted rooftop that you can see the sunset from, would be much nicer to see it transformed into a nice relaxing rooftop with some chairs.
