The hotel is located near the famous Seoul attractions like castles, palaces, so you will have an opportunity to discover the city, its architecture and culture. Eateries with national cuisine are spread widely nearby. Underground is just 5 mins away, and a shopping district MyeongDong with an entrance to Namsan funicular is located 3 subway stations away from here. Staff...

The hotel is near the subway, so it very easy to get to places. Room is average but good enough consider the price is not expensive. We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed it very much! Will recommended this hotel.

POSITIVES – Relatively cheap, good location, good staff. NEGATIVES – breakfast worse than dire (is an embarrassment). Limited reception. No air con instructions. SUMMARY – Overall Seoul is not cheap and this is a very basic hotel. New owners still have learning to do - I would try to find better at the moment. DETAILS Stayed for 4 nights in...

Seoul53 is relatively cheap for its location. It provides soap, shampoo and small towels - which are reasonable for the price paid. However, when we checked in on 14 May, the staff at the counter was rather rude to us when we requested for additional pillows. They only provided one pillow per person and it was rather thin so we...

My family just stayed here and we were super impressed. Perfect location for siteseeing (all the palaces are nearby), simple but clean and comfortable room. Perfect for families too. Our room was baby friendly, perfect for my 1 year old. and my parents also enjoyed their stay. Would definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed staying at Seoul 53. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Each day you get a free bottle of water and a basic breakfast of toast, bananas and tea/coffee. The rooms are simple but very nice and come with toiletries, slippers and towels (the towels are oddly small so you cannot wrap up, but they are fine...

Located at the small alley...and yes...it was a bit difficult to find this hotel. The room and bathroom are small...but clean and very simple. I got price for only KRW40.000 for 1 night and I think it was really a good deal, Breakfast is very simple...just toast bread and banana. And remember...you got what you paid...so don't have any high...

The previous reviews about this hotel are more or less true. The staff are extremely friendly and the hotel is in a nice, convenient area, very close to Insadong and the palaces. I guess that's where it stops.I I am sorely tempted to give this hotel two stars but will give it three for its service and convenience. The rooms...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
