WynDyn - Fusion, Chinese, Japanese - Cheongdam, Gangnam

호텔리베라서울 와인앤다인, 퓨젼, 중식, 일식

Meal budget per person (without drinks)
Category 2 (under 120000 KRW, 100 USD)

It is a fusion restaurant specializing in Chinese and Japanese cuisine.
It is located on the lobby floor in Hotel Rivera Cheongdam which belongs to Shinan Group with Rivera CC, Shinan CC, Green Hill CC, Everis Golf & Resort and Welli Hilli Park.

Along with spacious tables in the hall, the restaurant also has many dining rooms, so it seems to be good for private dining.

"Sea Cucumber & Pork Belly in Soy Sauce" and "Chilly Fried Small Octopus" are very different style, delectable!

As the property, Hotel Rivera, seems to be putting emphasis on top notch services, the staffs of this upscale restaurant are proffessional, attentive and kind.
It is recommendable for business, friends and family.
Next time, I will look forward to having another chance to stay in the property to experience and write a review.

Hotel was kept extremely clean and polished in all areas. House keeping very good in rooms. The hotel however was cold with a lack of atmosphere in the public or restaurant areas. Felt very sterile. Staff are very matter of fact and won’t deviate on anything. Generally a lack of smiles and customer interaction from the front desk and restaurant arrival desk staff. Concierge was helpful and friendly. Think the hotel is more for business clients who are more serious than someone on vacation.
Hotel is about 10 minutes walk from nearest subway station.

I stayed in this hotel 20 times or more. If you pick up high floor facing main road it is relative quiet, facing the back yard, sometimes you hear noises (probably linen delivery etc). Good spa with sauna, hot and cold baths (you need to pay, this is not Japan), but before gym was free, this year I learnth about the charge 7,000 KRW.
In 2023 stay most unpleasant was noisy music from outside (even I stay on the 14th floor), some days going over midnight! Is it backpackers Thailand or Cambodia or Seoul? In short, I liked this place, but prefer free gym and sauna with quiet atmosphere, there are other hotels in Seoul. Bye.

Hotel is in a good safe location. Well-appointed. Clean.

But two significant issues: First, I was almost electrocuted when trying to remove a broken plug someone had left behind - the exposed wires were live and sparked. The front desk did little but say sorry when notified. I also had issues with front desk in specifying no adjoining rooms. Was given an adjoining room anyways and worse was that the sliding door was only able to be locked from the other side leaving little assurance of security from my side of the room divider.

Not what one would expect from a hotel at this price point

Hotel is comfortable and clean. HOWEVER, somebody broad a huge speaker, installed it in front of the hotel and playing loud music continuously as some sort of protest. Hotel can't do anything for more than a year. So, if you are after a quiet stay, this is not the place.

This is a very nice upscale hotel approximately a ten minute walk from the fashion district in Seoul and a 5 minute walk to the closest subway station.

The room is a good size, there is free Internet access with a flat screen monitor and high speed connection and self controlled heating and air conditioning.

We booked this hotel on line and received a very good price of just alittle over 300,000 WON for a 2 night stay. In Seoul this appears to be a very reasonable offer.

The staff speaks very good English, the main lobby is welcoming and it is very close to a fantastic Kimchi restaurant.

As well the hotel will assist you with any tours that you wish to book and also has a good sized pool, laundry service and wonderful views of the mountains in the distance.

I would highly recommend this hotel to English speaking tourists. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via my email address.

Cheers,
Kelly

I just stayed at the Riviera Hotel in Seoul, just north of the COEX Mall and Convention Center. It was rated 5-star and looked good on their Web site. Well, it might have been 5-star--back in the 1970s because the present appearance and condition suggests that the hotel has not had a major renovation since it was built. The one good thing I can say is that their swimming pool on the B2 floor is quite good--25 meters with four lanes, very suitable for lap swimming. And it's free with the 110,000 won (about $100 USD) per night plus service fee and taxes. But the Riviera was nickle-and-diming when it was selling shampoo and conditioner for 2,000 won each (about $2 USD each++); this is the first hotel that I've stayed at which actually charges for shampoo and conditioner! It gets better. The Riviera charges 16,000 won (about $17 including tax and service)/day! That's the most I've seen charged at any hotel. The Riviera is also a little out of the way unless you have a car (not very practical in a city suffering from major congestion, lack of parking, and continual heavy traffic). It's at least a 20-minute walk to the COEX Mall complex and the Samsung subway station on Line 2; the closest convenience store, Family Mart, is a good walk away.

A far better choice is the Ibis Hotel which is less expensive, more centrally located, away from a busy throughfare like the 14-lane (yes, that's right, 14 lanes) city street in front of the Riviera, and includes free high speed Internet access. OK, so the Ibis doesn't have a nice pool, but it does have a nice sauna with hot bath that costs only $4 USD per use.

Did I mention that the Rivier's airconditioning system seemed very inconsistent? I felt like the room temperature was fluctuating from hot to cold all the time.

This morning I discovered that the hot water handle was leaking and water was slowly moving toward a batter charger on the side; I could have been fried by the 220V line! Which brings me to my last complaint: the room has too few outlets. It's bad enough I had to deal with 220V outlets, but there was only one available outlet in the main room--hidden under the desk. Fortunately, I had just purchased a triple outlet adapter and several adapter plugs (American plugs to European style round pins), as well as one 220 to 110V transformer. My room at the Riviera looked like a spaghetti factory with outlet adapters, multiple outlet adapters, transformer and extension card. So I checked out this morning and moved to another hotel--the CO-OP Residence Samsung Station.

In contrast, my new room at the CO-OP Residence comes with several useable outlets in convenient locations--not to mention free high speed Internet access, desk space, kitchen, and comfy bed; OK, it's a businessman's hotel, but I'm saving at least $40 USD a night and it's centrally located. Across the street is the subway station and COEX Mall and the City Air Terminal that connects with Incheon Airport. Summary: if you want to relive the 1970s, don't have a laptop, love lap swimming, and don't mind paying an arm and a leg for conveniences (I didn't mention $8 for a small cup of coffee in the cafe)--by all means, stay at the Riviera. If you value money, use a laptop, want a clean, modern place to sleep in, and desire a central location--try the Ibis Hotel or CO-OP Residence.

First off I have to say I love this hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and the hotel itself is fairly well located and accessible. The amenities provided are high quality and it houses a sauna, pool and fitness club. Breakfast was above average but they do not change their food items.

On the final night I ate something wrong for dinner. I called them at 2 am asking if they had charcoal pills. They didn’t have any - that’s fine; they are not a hospital or pharmacy. I spent the whole night throwing up and having toilet runs, hydrating myself carefully with the two complimentary bottles of fresh water. When I had finished them both that night (and I had a third from my workplace), I called to ask them if they could provide me with two bottles of water.

The response I got was what I did not expect from this hotel. They haggled with me on water - at first offering for me to buy the two bottles I requested at 3,300 KRW (about US$3) each. I told them I was really sick and the receptionist put me on a long whole and said no, I had to buy. That’s when I asked if the tap water safe to drink, and that I’d record this on TripAdvisor. She finally said she would offer one free bottle. I asked for it to be sent up immediately ‘please’. A manager came up and said I could give them a used bottle and they would refill it for me (heaven knows from where). I asked where’s the one bottle they offered. He didn’t have it. Another supervisor came and finally believed my story cos I showed him my puke bag (he grimaced). The first manager finally came with one complimentary bottle.

It is not the cost. In an emergency when I’m really dehydrated and all I want is clean water so as not to aggravate my stomach upset, 3,300 KRW is nothing. But it’s the haggling that was unacceptable, and it reeked of a lack of compassion. The supervisor was slightly better, but the rest, from the phone girl and the manager, revealed no emotions and would stick to policy if I hadn’t put up a fight.

It’s a great hotel - comfortable, spacious, but if anything goes awry, don’t count on them, or be prepared to explain through feeling unwell.

We found the bed so hard and the room so hot our stay was uncomfortable.

The staff resolved the bed issue by providing a bed topper, however despite the room being 29 degrees centigrade we were told the guests air conditioning had been switched off for their own comfort. It seems the hotel thinks guests are unable to switch their ac on or off as they desire. The only solution they could offer was to open a tiny vent in the window which made negligible difference.

We were not the only ones complaining about the room temperature. Would not want to stop here during hot weather!

From the outside the hotel looks grand and is well located with good facilities but room comfort isn't one of them!

Bus 6006 (I think that's the right number). I was little daunted before I arrived, but the system is just so darn well organized, I don't think you could go wrong. Clearly marked bus stops outside the terminal, buses come along every 10-15 minutes, and the bus stops directly outside the Riviera. Cost is ~10,000 won ($10). And the buses are not remotely cramped.
