To preface, I'm an SPG Gold, Hilton Diamond, and IHG Platinum member. If you are a tourist, this is a very convenient hotel. It's in one of the hearts of downtown, connected underground to the metro, an underground shopping area, and to high-end luxury shopping (Chanel, LV, etc.) all without going outside. The hotel lobby itself is designed very darkly, and to me it gives a more subdued feel than a luxurious one. During our visit (Jan 2021), check-in was on the 5th floor. Through a special discounted rate, I got the room for USD $100 all-in, including all taxes, but no breakfast. My Gold status then didn't mean very much, aside from a 'late' 2pm checkout. Because I'm a local on a staycation, $100 seems very reasonable for what you get. The Deluxe King rooms are small. The bed takes up almost all of the bedroom area, with less than a foot of width between one side of the bed and the wall; and with about 2.5 feet of width available on the other side. Keeping open a single large suitcase would be a bit of a challenge in this room, and keeping two open would be almost impossible without tripping over yourself. (See my pictures for the full layout of the room) The bed is very comfortable though, that's true. However, the headboard of the bed was right under the huge window, and on a very cold winter night, the draft was extremely cold... cold enough to overpower the heat when we even turned it up to 28 degrees Celsius. Another thing I didn't like about the room was that the shower and bathtub area offered no privacy for others to use the bathroom simultaneously. No curtains at all, no frosted glass either. My wife and I enjoyed being able to go to bakeries all connected to the hotel. One bakery is just past the basement exit, next to the ballroom. There are more bakeries in the Lotte Mall. (Just explore, you'll find it!) Just a 1-minute walk from the hotel is a great Japanese restaurant (listed in the Michelin guide, but no stars) called "Inaniwa Yosuke". Two people can get a nice dinner there for a total of about USD $50. Just next door to that restaurant is a nice convenience store. Just outside of both the restaurant and the convenience store is the metro station entrance to the underground, and so you can just use that to get back to the hotel. Very convenient. If you are a *Korean staycationer* during these Covid times, I'd consider the Deluxe King room worth up to USD $125 all-in. And if you're a tourist wanting to experience Seoul for 1-2 nights with shopping and a palace tour (just next to the hotel) without much hassle, the Deluxe King room is a very good pick and worth maybe USD $160 all-in (maybe $180 if you are going to use the pool). But if you don't mind venturing outdoors and exploring Seoul, and you want to save some money (and don't need a pool), I'd go for a few of the other Marriott hotels nearby instead. (Note that the pool is not available during Covid-19, for anybody.)

Whether it's a flight or hotel or other travel experience, it's often the people who make or break the experience for the traveler. I've stayed at this hotel often over the past few months, and despite the COVID situation the staff have consistently made my stays memorable and pleasant. Most recently I was extremely impressed by the assistance of Concierge Vicky Kim, who went out of her way to assist me in finding a specific SD card for my camera. She patiently researched on-line with me, translating from Korean, helping me find the best price, and making an on-line purchase for me using her own Credit Card (reimbursed later of course) because there were some complications of using a foreign credit card with the particular store that had the card. She then assisted by showing the taxi driver the exact location of the store in Seoul's crowded electronic area, on her mobile phone. Now that's going above and beyond, and I sincerely thank Vicky for her care and concern! The front-desk staff and bell people are also extremely polite and helpful, and are always thinking one step ahead to ensure my stays are pleasant and comfortable. Gym & spa facilities are amazing. Thank you all.

The Plaza Seoul, Autograph Collection It was the 3rd time for me to experience the Autograph Collection (the fisr 2 experiences were in Madrid and Granada) Even though it is a highly subjective point of view, I can feel the European dignity from the culture of Autograph Collection, whereas I feel the American luxurious comfortness from that of JW Marriott. This Plaza Seoul, Autograph Collection also has same DNA. Even though there seems to be no solution in hardware like small size of the rooms (the size of Deluxe Room is 30 sqm and that of Premier Suite is 40 sqm, even without bathtub), the property has wonderful location in the central of Seoul (right in front of Seoul City Hall), fine amenities with Hermes, good qualities of food and top notch services by her staffs with professionalism. There are many brands of Marriott in the northen part of Seoul. But if I should select one, I would like to recommend this Plaza Seoul, Autograph Collection.

Room was in an excellent condition - very comfortable and well maintained. Amenities were very good too. What I loved about the room most was the pillows. There's something about the pillows that made the experience much better. The hotel is right in the middle of the CBD, so guests have really nice access to all the important city spots. I would like to compliment the staff (i think he was a manager) greeting the guests on the second floor breakfast place. He was very welcoming and professional. Hotels need more guys like him. I would definitely return to this Hotel in the future if I had the chance.

Stayed there way before the virus broke out in S. Korea. I only chose this hotel on the day of. It was a wise choice. The hotel facilities were a bit old. The hotel location was very convenient, just about 10 min walk to myeongdong. The service was good as well. The room was no too spacious, but doable.
