The Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel garners accolades from guests for its friendly and professional staff, who provide excellent service. While the hotel's amenities, such as the spa and gym, are generally celebrated, some visitors mention additional costs and the need for updates. The cleanliness of the hotel is widely commended, with travelers finding the rooms and facilities well-kept.
Although the picturesque location offers stunning views, a few guests cite challenges with steep terrain and public transport. Despite mixed reviews on the value due to extra fees, the hotel's elegant atmosphere and room design receive high marks.

The best part about the hotel is the outdoor pool and the huge rooms. The location is situated on a hill, which means you do get great views of the city, but it also means that it is not assessable by subway. However, even though the walk up and down the hill to the nearest subway station seems manageable by others, I didn’t walk up and down the hill but rather relied my entire six days spent here on buses, as they are very convenient with just stops right outside this property. Just remember to buy a t money card from any convenient store at the airport so that you can use it. The sole green bus immediately outside the hotel will bring you down and up the hill, so you can get to the nearest subway station. Slightly further out across the road, the two blue buses will get you to tourist hotspots in Myeongdong, or if in the side of the hotel, across the river to Gangnam, all in less than 30minutes. And Google maps do actually show you the connection and waiting time very accurately, if not the bus stops it also have highly accurate displays showing you the minutes needed for the bus to arrive. The airport bus also stops directly right at the doorsteps of this hotel so getting to and from the airport is no difficulty.
Room wise, they are decorated in soothing early tones, and extremely spacious. Bathing was comfortable with standard pillows and if you find the provided ones too soft, you can also ask for a memory foam film pillow like I did. I was given a room facing the hill and was surprised that on certain clear days the sunset was spectacular. The television in the room was huge, but could not be connected to your phone unless it’s an android, to stream content. Nonetheless channels were abundant.
The bathroom was a bit small compared to the size of the bedroom, with only a standing shower stall. There was also a bidet in the toilet. Toiletries are standard Grand Hyatt brand, Balmain, and since Korea recently implemented and no disposable amenity ruling, hotels no longer give out disposable items for free and you have to purchase them now, so do you remember to pack your toothbrushes and razors with you.
although I was initially concerned about the location, I do like it after staying here because it’s away from the noisy city center yet the buses provide an extremely easy and fast way to get into town. Since this is located in Namsan, you are almost equi-distance from Gangnam and Myeongdong. Most importantly, if you’re here for summer, the outdoor pool is a great way for you to relax, as they are not many hotels in Seoul that has an outdoor pool. Nonetheless do note that the sun chairs by the pool are usually reserved for day guests paying a daily fee instead of hotel guests.

If you prioritize access to Myeongdong, Gwanghwamun, Gangnam, etc., it is a little far away, but for those who are okay with that (or feel that it is a good thing), it is a great location. It is a one-minute walk to Namsan Park, where the autumn leaves are vibrant, and morning and evening walks were a special experience of autumn in Seoul that can only be experienced here.
First of all, the room has an excellent view with the exterior walls made entirely of glass, which is one of the reasons to come here. Because it is set back, the hustle and bustle and the neon lights are far away, so it was nice to drink coffee while looking at the city in the morning and the neon lights at night. The room is equipped with the necessary equipment and a wardrobe, and the interior is high-quality and neatly arranged. However, some rooms do not have washlets in the toilet, which may be difficult for those who require them. I personally don't mind this, so it wasn't a problem, but the showers and bathrooms are not the latest, so I think the evaluation will change depending on whether you can accept it as a taste or want the latest.
The breakfast was a variety of good quality meals and was enough for a three-night stay. The view from the breakfast restaurant was extremely pleasant. The plates were cleared away in no time after we had finished eating, and the other services were also good. Although the staff were always busy, they always responded promptly and properly to our requests.
On weekend nights, there were a lot of people gathering and it felt like a hustle and bustle, but that was fine for those who were there, and if not, it wasn't a hassle since we could just relax in our room.
I didn't use the fitness center, but there was plenty of space. The pool requires a reservation, so was it a coincidence? It was empty, so I was able to use one lane all to myself, which was great. It wasn't the newest facility, but it was clean enough.

I have known the Grand Hyatt from many business stays for many years and therefore chose it for my holiday visit to Seoul. The reception warm as always, the room overlooking the river usual spectacular. The decor stylish and appropriate to the high level of the hotel. But there are also “buts”.
It starts with the bathroom, which is actually much too small for such a hotel (and always has been). Its furnishing with bathtub with shower curtain is not only unworthy of a 5-star hotel, but simply not up to date; the same goes for the antiquated toilet, which is also not separate.
Breakfast is served in the much too small standard restaurant, which leads to long queues at the entrance and a hustle and bustle buffet for a fairly crowded hotel. Why the verandas are not used in summer is probably due to the “unreasonableness” due to the high outside temperatures of late 20°C in the morning.
Timeslots are distributed at the outdoor pool because otherwise you would hardly be able to cope with the many guests. Swimming, however, is no longer a possibility, only splashing. Without fault and blame the fitness area!
In the evening, restaurants and bars offer their services that meet all the wishes of guests - at more than upscale prices, of course. But there are also alternatives in the area ...
Conclusion: a great hotel in a unique location of the Korean capital, fully focused on the high-paying Korean clientele. Otherwise, it is more reserved for foreign businessmen to “reside” there, preferably in the largely closed club area, to which I like to point out.

In the past year, I've visited the Grand Hyatt Seoul at least six times. From entry with the very accomodating valet and bellmen, to the housekeeping staff who always say hello when you pass, I can say I really love this property. Though the rooms may be considered small and dated to some, I've always found them very clean and a good size for my personal needs. In the event that I'd share a wall with an connecting room, or a room where I could potentially hear my neighbors, I've always been warned at check-in and asked if it was ok. That small gesture goes a long way, and in the end makes their jobs easier too. For Globalists, check in is in the LL level of the hotel at the Grand Club lounge and the staff there is always warm and greet you with a friendly smile. It can get really busy at meal times and they are all working very hard and moving fast to get tables prepared for guests but. I'm not a big fan of buffets but more often than not, the buffet in the Grand Club lounge has had some really delicious options for both breakfast and cocktail hour. A mix of western and eastern dishes that can really fill you up. This property really makes you feel seen and valued as a guest. There have been occasions where I've celebrated an event and let the staff know and they kindly prepared a special note or ammenity. The Gallery lounge is a nice place to listen to live music in the evening but sometimes there can be a line to get in at any given time of the day. The deli has some good snacks and bottles of wine. Locationwise, it isn't the most convenient if you don't have a car but it is located pretty central in Seoul so it is easy to access via taxi from any part of the city. Thanks for always providing a great stay! I look forward to my next one!

What an amazing hotel, esp. if you have Globalist benefits. Walking in was truly "grand", with a gorgeous lobby and view of the city. We loved our room on the 18th floor, overlooking the city and Nam San Tower. Breathtaking. And while the room size was "cozy" (typical in Asia), we loved the decor and styling so much. (The only downside to the room was a shortage of shelf space, to lay out clothing.)
If you have Globalist benefits, WOW. The Club Lounge food was the BEST of any Hyatt lounge we've been to. The food at both breakfast and dinner time is a legit buffet, with every dish amazing. (Younger kids, under 13, aren't allowed in at diner time, though.) And ambience is wonderful. Plus, at least when we stayed (in Jun. 2023), Globalists could get free access to the hotel spa/sauna (normally it appears even Globalists pay for access, though at a 50% discounted rate). That was totally unexpected and SOO nice. The spa/sauna is very upscale, for those who know the world of Korea saunas.
You'll note that many reviewers comment on the location as being less than ideal in certain ways. The hotel is way up high on a very steep hill. So though it's only a half mile walk from the nearest subway station, to walk up the hill would be too much for many. (Walking down is a breeze!) But there's a local tram-like bus that will take you up the hill for 1,000 KRW (less than a US dollar). So no biggie at all in the end. (But there are obviously plenty of other hotels that do have more immediate access to the subway, if that's vital for you.) We wouldn't let the location deter us at all from returning unless we REALLY wanted to just have public transit at our literal doorstep. The other positives are so good they outweigh the minor inconvenience. (And we rode taxis a bunch too, which made it a total non-issue.)
We can't wait to come back to Grand Hyatt Seoul!! We were so sad to leave.

It is a place where you are always comfortable and taken care of like your own family. I go because my child likes to go to the swimming pool, and I feel more at ease because it is always clean, safe, and not crowded.
It is also a place where you can feel the changes of the four seasons right in the middle of the city. It's a pretty place any time you go. This is especially true because Namsan can be used as a garden.
It's a place I've been going to for a short holiday for a long time.
The room size may seem a little small, but the arrangement of the furniture and the large windows make it not stuffy, and the bedding is impeccable.
In my heart, it still ranks first among all hotels in Seoul.

The Grand Hyatt Seoul is a classic big city, bustling conference/events hotel with breathtaking city views, all kinds of amenities and first-rate service. I had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights and didn't want it to end.
First, the location is at the top of a mountain, near Namsan Tower, and has stunning views overlooking the southern part of Seoul and Gangnam. While I was thrilled to have a city view from the 15th floor, I also saw that the mountain views on the other side of the hotel are still quite nice, too. The only drawback to the location is that it can be difficult to walk anywhere because of the steepness of the mountain. The there is a village bus (green one) that literally stops right at the hotel and a city bus that also stops just off the entrance on the main street. Cabs and Ubers are also plentiful.
The room is beautifully appointed and I feel like they thought of everything most travelers would need: Balmain bath products, a refrigerator that can hold a few extra bottles of your water, privacy screen for the bathroom, Japanese-style heated toilet seat, extremely comfortable bed and linens, I needed nothing else during my stay. There was even a check-in amenity that I was not expecting.
The hotel has many things on property, including artificial turf tennis courts (3), outdoor ice skating rink, many restaurants, 24-hr gym, spa, etc. You could come here and not leave the property if you wanted to. It also means that the hotel itself is a destination for locals -- I haven't seen a hotel lobby so busy in a long time.
I would be very happy to return to the Grand Hyatt Seoul and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a luxury urban hotel and all the things that come with that.

It was too cool and relaxed in a private space. I got it from Dr. Lina, and my hands were loose, so I was relaxed and tired! When you arrive 40 minutes before the massage, you can also use the sauna, which was so good, and after eating with the flum cinnamon tea, it's also great to eat it! There is also a shower and a powder room in the private area, so you can prepare for free. I had the idea of getting a massage and wanting to come with someone valuable. Thank you for allowing me to finish the year coolly without fatigue.

My stay at the Grand Hyatt Seoul was average. For the price I spent to stay here I would say that you’re better off staying at a Hilton property where toothbrushes and bathroom amenities are provided complimentary instead of as an upcharge. I have never seen an admission fee to use a sauna in my life. But this facility required reservation to use the pool and had an admission fee for use of the sauna. I felt that the value of this hotel was average compared to the other hotels I stayed in while in Asia.
