The place is so uninspiring that I am not sure what to write about it. The room was just fine, I doubt the covers get washed between customers. Heaps of mosquitoes and I dont know where they were coming from. We had to clean our room ourselves, because nobody else seemed to be doing it. The girls are reception knew...

Here are my experiences after spending the nights at both Beewon Residence and Beewon Guest House : 1. Upon arriving from airport by taxi, the taxi driver was not able to locate Beewon. After several phone calls to the Beewon receptionist, he dropped us off at the roadside and the Beewon receptionist had to come to meet us (only 2...

According to the map, the train station to this guesthouse is very near. In actual fact, you do have to walk a fair bit so be ready for that. When we arrived the guesthouse at 11pm, the frontdesk guy told us there is no room for us as they were still cleaning up the mess due the flooding in the...

We stayed 4 nights and it was ideal for us. Only surprise was on arrival when we are asked to pay upfront, it was midnight and we just had arrived from the airport... Otherwise very nice place for the price, free use of washing machine, internet and a basic breakfast to start the day.

Place is comfortable and convenient. Not very far from angguk train station; around 10-15 minutes walk. Very near to Cheongdakgung palace; 10 minutes walk. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Worth the value.

Keep in mind that the standards are lower than you would expect from a European hostel. We stayed in a double with bath. Pros: Walking distance to Insadong and palaces Cheap for Seoul and the neighborhood Friendly staff Toast/coffee self-service breakfast Washer Cons: Dingy room & bath Moths Room overlooked noisy parking lot You don't get clean sheets - there...

Our family stayed three nights. Made reservations through their website. ATMOSPHERE. Great atmosphere at the Guest House. Super friendly English-speaking staff (though it's Korea - everybody speaks English well). The friendly laid-back vibe wasn't limited to staff - all the other young backpackers and families staying there were all laid-back, too. LOCATION. Great location. Short walking distance from subways (both...

I would say my stay was sub-par at said guest house. The rooms were small and a far cry from what I had expected from the pictures listed in their website. There was barely enough room to walk around, lest sleep, what with all the luggage and all (3 people in a room). The toilet was alright, and the room...

I recently stayed at the Beewon in a triple room, after finding that Yims house was not big enough for 3 adults in the room. The Beewon was a little more expensive but better value for money as the price included breakfast, use of kitchen and laundry as well as great wifi connection in the room! The triple room was...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
