Honestly after reading the scary review by Murt10, I was hesitant to book this hotel but I am glad my experience was great. first the positives: great location near sule pagoda, airport shuttle bus stop within 5min walk, a good Japanese restaurant a few doors away, KFC was nearby, short walking distance to sule mall and junction mall, clean room, big size bed can sleep 3 persons, good oriental breakfast with fruits (western only toasted bread), electronic safe, two complementary big bottle of drinking water, water boiler The not so good things: toilet has no shower screen, 1 and only slow lift, mosquitos, bad internet connection (I stayed at the furthest room), not much of city views to speak of, limited TV channel selections. If you can look pass the negative points, it is very worthy hotel to stay for the price you pay.…
Just checked out of the hotel this morning. At reception, as I was leaving back the key, I was told that the manager was checking my room. Receptionist took a phone call saying that the manager advised there was bad staining on the sheets and that I had to pay 23,000 Kyat damages. I asked what the stain was and was just told it was a yellow stain. I was puzzled, but I was in a hurry. I asked I'd the stain could be from the Tiger Balm I had put on my mosquitoe bites. Yes, that's it, I was told, tiger balm. The sheets were destroyed and couldn't be cleaned according to the manager The 23,000 Kyat had to be paid in cash. Credit or bank cards were not acceptable. As I said, I was in a hurry so I paid, received an official receipt and left I returned a few hours later to pick up my baggage and requested to see the manager at reception. The man at reception said he was the manager. I told him I was disappointed and unhappy with my treatment that morning. I asked to see the bedsheets and requested that these be brought to reception. I asked to be shown the stains, and with difficulty the Manager and the receptionist found a number of small stains, almost unnoticeable. I took a photo of these on my phone. I said that these tiny stains would come out in the wash. The Manager then lied and said that the sheets had already been washed, when obviously they had not. I again told him I was unhappy and wanted a refund, but he again refused. I advised him I would be making this report, but he still refused. Let me assure everyone that these were tiny, nearly unnoticeable stains which would absolutely come out in a cool wash, never mind a whites. What are detergents for after all. I have never ever been in a hotel before, where the hotel manager personally goes to a guests room, after they have left, but before they have checked out, to inspect their sheets for stains I would hate to see what he does if there's eye mascara or makeup on the bed clothes, and I won't go further, but you know that there can be a lot worse left on sheets. Anyway, the manager of the hotel is a liar and a cheat and goes round examining your bed clothes minutely after you've left. He charges you for imaginary damages and lies about the sheets being cleaned. Other members of staff were friendly and obliging. I wouldn't recommend staying in this hotel to anyone.…
The hotel is right in the city centre, making it very easy to get around. The Staff are exceptionally helpful in all areas. The rooms very clean and well supplied. Only downside was the Breakfast, which is not so suitable for western diets and though served 7-10am, is prepared at 5am, leading to possible tummy problems.
I was doing a quick solo stop in yangon and wanted a downtown centrally located hotel. Checkin and reception teams were quick and always helpful. The bed was comfortable. TV had english language stations. Room was clean. Large bottles of water were complimentary. It was exactly what I needed for the trip.
Staff was very accommodating when it was discovered that our room had a problem with the air-conditioning, moving us to this hotel at no extra cost. Reception is friendly (we had a good laugh with one of the staff). Our twin room was quite big, and although the furniture had some wear and tear, it was spotless. Water pressure was a bit weak, and there was a bit of an odour from the bathroom (probably the drain) so we kept the bathroom door shut - no problem. Breakfast was complimentary, and they provided water bottles as well. We don't have any real issues with the hotel, and it is very conveniently located in downtown Yangon.
